Sep 15, 2026XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform.CVE-2026-53966 · Other software · xwiki · reported by GitHubHigh 7.1
XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform. From 13.4-rc-1 until 16.10.17, 17.4.10, 17.10.4, and 18.1.0-rc-1, the Live Data edit REST API allows a user who can edit a page to change that page's rights without executing the normal document-saving authorization checks. The user can grant script right and then execute potentially dangerous Velocity scripts or send unfiltered HTML and JavaScript to clients. The same missing checks can circumvent extension security controls implemented as listeners for UserUpdatingDocumentEvent and related user document events. This issue is fixed in versions 16.10.17, 17.4.10, 17.10.4, and 18.1.0-rc-1.

Sep 14, 2026XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform.CVE-2026-34151 · Other software · xwiki · reported by GitHubHigh 8.2
XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform. Prior to 17.10.5 and 18.2.0, the /skin/ action in com.xpn.xwiki.web.SkinAction can resolve double-encoded parent-directory segments outside the intended skin or web-application resource prefix when Jetty 12 or later decodes the request path. The affected lookup is replaced with Environment.getResourceAsStream(String, String), which constrains a resource to its expected prefix. An unauthenticated remote attacker can use the vulnerable behavior to read arbitrary resources permitted to the Jetty process, including WEB-INF/xwiki.cfg and, depending on deployment depth and operating-system permissions, host files. Tomcat and Jetty versions before 12 do not appear affected. This issue is fixed in versions 17.10.5 and 18.2.0.

Aug 10, 2026XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform.CVE-2026-48048 · Other software · xwiki · reported by GitHubHigh 7.5
XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform. XWiki discovered that the patch for GHSA-5cf8-vrr8-8hjm was insufficient. Starting with version 6.2.1 and prior to versions 18.0.0RC1, 17.10.13, 17.4.9 and 16.10.17, with slightly modified parameters to the `LiveTableResults`, it is still possible to discover password hashes one bit at a time, so with 768 requests, the full password salt and hash can be retrieved of a user. The check for password (and email properties) has been adjusted in XWiki 18.0.0RC1, 17.10.13, 17.4.9 and 16.10.17. As a workaround, the patch can be applied manually to the wiki page `XWiki.LiveTableResultsMacros`.

Aug 7, 2026XWiki Platform WebJars API is a package for XWiki, a generic wiki platform.CVE-2026-48047 · Other software · xwiki · reported by GitHubMedium 5.9
XWiki Platform WebJars API is a package for XWiki, a generic wiki platform. Starting with version 9.6-rc-1 and prior to versions 16.10.17, 17.4.9, and 17.10.3, a potential path traversal vulnerability allow an attacker who manages to get a malicious WebJar extension installed on the wiki to write arbitrary files. While the consequences could be severe like overriding configuration files and setting the superadmin password, the attack first requires that the attacker already has admin access to at least a subwiki to be able to install a malicious extension. Further, the attacker needs to publish a malicious extension in an extension repository that is configured in the instance. This vulnerability has been patched in XWiki 16.10.17, 17.4.9, 17.10.3, and 18.0.0RC1. XWiki is not aware of any workarounds except for being careful whom developers grant script and admin rights to.

Apr 15, 2026XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform offering runtime services for applications built on top of it.CVE-2026-40104 · Other software · xwiki · reported by GitHubMedium 6.9
XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform offering runtime services for applications built on top of it. Versions 1.8-rc-1, 17.0.0-rc-1 and 17.5.0-rc-1 and prior include a resource exhaustion vulnerability in REST API endpoints such as /xwiki/rest/wikis/xwiki/spaces/AnnotationCode/pages/AnnotationConfig/objects/AnnotationCode.AnnotationConfig/0/properties, which list all available pages as part of the metadata for database list properties without applying query limits. On large wikis, this can exhaust available server resources. This issue has been patched in versions 16.10.16, 17.4.8 and 17.10.1.

Apr 8, 2026XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform offering runtime services for applications built on top of it.CVE-2026-33229 · Other software · xwiki · reported by GitHubHigh 8.6
XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform offering runtime services for applications built on top of it. Prior to 17.4.8 and 17.10.1, an improperly protected scripting API allows any user with script right to bypass the sandboxing of the Velocity scripting API and execute, e.g., arbitrary Python scripts, allowing full access to the XWiki instance and thereby compromising the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the whole instance. Note that script right already constitutes a high level of access that we don't recommend giving to untrusted users. This vulnerability is fixed in 17.4.8 and 17.10.1.

Jan 23, 2026XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform offering runtime services for applications built on top of it.CVE-2026-24128 · Other software · xwiki · reported by GitHubMedium 6.5
XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform offering runtime services for applications built on top of it. Versions 7.0-milestone-2 through 16.10.11, 17.0.0-rc-1 through 17.4.4, and 17.5.0-rc-1 through 17.7.0 contain a reflected Cross-site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability, which allows an attacker to craft a malicious URL and execute arbitrary actions with the same privileges as the victim. If the victim has administrative or programming rights, those rights can be exploited to gain full access to the XWiki installation. This issue has been patched in versions 17.8.0-rc-1, 17.4.5 and 16.10.12. To workaround, the patch can be applied manually, only a single line in templates/logging_macros.vm needs to be changed, no restart is required.

Dec 10, 2025XWiki is an open-source wiki software platform.CVE-2025-66473 · Other software · xwiki · reported by GitHubHigh 8.7
XWiki is an open-source wiki software platform. Versions 16.10.10 and below, 17.0.0-rc-1 through 17.4.3 and 17.5.0-rc-1 through 17.6.0 contain a REST API which doesn't enforce any limits for the number of items that can be requested in a single request at the moment. Depending on the number of pages in the wiki and the memory configuration, this can lead to slowness and unavailability of the wiki. As an example, the /rest/wikis/xwiki/spaces resource returns all spaces on the wiki by default, which are basically all pages. This issue is fixed in versions 17.4.4 and 16.10.11.

Oct 6, 2025XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform offering runtime services for applications built on top of it.CVE-2025-52472 · Other software · xwiki · reported by GitHubCritical 9.3
XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform offering runtime services for applications built on top of it. Starting in version 4.3-milestone-1 and prior to versions 16.10.9, 17.4.2, and 17.5.0, the REST search URL is vulnerable to HQL injection via the `orderField` parameter. The specified value is added twice in the query, though, once in the field list for the select and once in the order clause, so it's not that easy to exploit. The part of the query between the two fields can be enclosed in single quotes to effectively remove them, but the query still needs to remain valid with the query two times in it. This has been patched in versions 17.5.0, 17.4.2, and 16.10.9. No known workarounds are available.

XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform offering runtime services for applications built on top of it. XWiki Platform Legacy Old Core and XWiki Platform Old Core versions 9.8-rc-1 through 16.4.6, 16.5.0-rc-1 through 16.10.4, and 17.0.0-rc-1 through 17.1.0, any user with editing rights can create an XClass with a database list property that references a password property. When adding an object of that XClass, the content of that password property is displayed. In practice, with a standard rights setup, this means that any user with an account on the wiki can access password hashes of all users, and possibly other password properties (with hashed or plain storage) that are on pages that the user can view. This issue is fixed in versions 16.4.7, 16.10.5 and 17.2.0-rc-1.

In versions 4.2-milestone-3 through 16.4.7, 16.5.0-rc-1 through 16.10.5 and 17.0.0-rc-1 through 17.2.2, two templates contain reflected XSS vulnerabilities, allowing an attacker to execute malicious JavaScript code in the context of the victim's session by getting the victim to visit an attacker-controlled URL. This permits the attacker to perform arbitrary actions using the permissions of the victim. This issue is fixed in versions 16.4.8, 16.10.6 and 17.3.0-rc-1. To workaround the issue, manually patch the WAR with the same changes as the original patch.

Jul 26, 2025XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform offering runtime services for applications built on top of it.CVE-2025-54385 · Other software · xwiki · reported by GitHubHigh 8.6
XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform offering runtime services for applications built on top of it. In versions between 17.0.0-rc1 to 17.2.2 and versions 16.10.5 and below, it's possible to execute any SQL query in Oracle by using the function like DBMS_XMLGEN or DBMS_XMLQUERY. The XWiki#searchDocuments APIs pass queries directly to Hibernate without sanitization. Even when these APIs enforce a specific SELECT clause, attackers can still inject malicious code through HQL's native function support in other parts of the query (such as the WHERE clause). This is fixed in versions 16.10.6 and 17.3.0-rc-1.

Jun 13, 2025XWiki is an open-source wiki software platform.CVE-2025-49587 · Other software · xwiki · reported by GitHubMedium 6.4
XWiki is an open-source wiki software platform. When a user without script right creates a document with an XWiki.Notifications.Code.NotificationDisplayerClass object, and later an admin edits and saves that document, the possibly malicious content of that object is output as raw HTML, allowing XSS attacks. While the notification displayer executes Velocity, the existing generic analyzer already warns admins before editing Velocity code. Note that warnings before editing documents with dangerous properties have only been introduced in XWiki 15.9, before that version, this was a known issue and the advice was simply to be careful. This vulnerability has been patched in XWiki 15.10.16, 16.4.7, and 16.10.2 by adding a required rights analyzer that warns the admin before editing about the possibly malicious code.

Jun 13, 2025XWiki is a generic wiki platform.CVE-2025-49585 · Other software · xwiki · reported by GitHubHigh 8.6
XWiki is a generic wiki platform. In versions before 15.10.16, 16.0.0-rc-1 through 16.4.6, and 16.5.0-rc-1 through 16.10.1, when an attacker without script or programming right creates an XClass definition in XWiki (requires edit right), and that same document is later edited by a user with script, admin, or programming right, malicious code could be executed with the rights of the editing user without prior warning. In particular, this concerns custom display code, the script of computed properties and queries in database list properties. Note that warnings before editing documents with dangerous properties have only been introduced in XWiki 15.9, before that version, this was a known issue and the advice was simply to be careful. This has been patched in XWiki 16.10.2, 16.4.7 and 15.10.16 by adding an analysis for the respective XClass properties.

Jun 13, 2025XWiki is a generic wiki platform.CVE-2025-49584 · Other software · xwiki · reported by GitHubHigh 8.7
XWiki is a generic wiki platform. In XWiki Platform versions 10.9 through 16.4.6, 16.5.0-rc-1 through 16.10.2, and 17.0.0-rc-1, the title of every single page whose reference is known can be accessed through the REST API as long as an XClass with a page property is accessible, this is the default for an XWiki installation. This allows an attacker to get titles of pages whose reference is known, one title per request. This doesn't affect fully private wikis as the REST endpoint checks access rights on the XClass definition. The impact on confidentiality depends on the strategy for page names. By default, page names match the title, so the impact should be low but if page names are intentionally obfuscated because the titles are sensitive, the impact could be high. This has been fixed in XWiki 16.4.7, 16.10.3 and 17.0.0 by adding access control checks before getting the title of any page.

Jun 13, 2025XWiki is a generic wiki platform.CVE-2025-49583 · Other software · xwiki · reported by GitHubMedium 5.1
XWiki is a generic wiki platform. When a user without script right creates a document with an `XWiki.Notifications.Code.NotificationEmailRendererClass` object, and later an admin edits and saves that document, the email templates in this object will be used for notifications. No malicious code can be executed, though, as while these templates allow Velocity code, the existing generic analyzer already warns admins before editing Velocity code. The main impact would thus be to send spam, e.g., with phishing links to other users or to hide notifications about other attacks.

Jun 13, 2025XWiki is a generic wiki platform.CVE-2025-49582 · Other software · xwiki · reported by GitHubHigh 8.6
XWiki is a generic wiki platform. When editing content that contains "dangerous" macros like malicious script macros that were authored by a user with fewer rights, XWiki warns about the execution of these macros since XWiki 15.9RC1. These required rights analyzers that trigger these warnings are incomplete, allowing an attacker to hide malicious content. For most macros, the existing analyzers don't consider non-lowercase parameters. Further, most macro parameters that can contain XWiki syntax like titles of information boxes weren't analyzed at all. Similarly, the "source" parameters of the content and context macro weren't anylzed even though they could contain arbitrary XWiki syntax. In the worst case, this could allow a malicious to add malicious script macros including Groovy or Python macros to a page that are then executed after another user with programming righs edits the page, thus allowing remote code execution. The required rights analyzers have been made more robust and extended to cover those cases in XWiki 16.4.7, 16.10.3 and 17.0.0.

Jun 13, 2025XWiki is a generic wiki platform.CVE-2025-49581 · Other software · xwiki · reported by GitHubHigh 8.7
XWiki is a generic wiki platform. Any user with edit right on a page (could be the user's profile) can execute code (Groovy, Python, Velocity) with programming right by defining a wiki macro. This allows full access to the whole XWiki installation. The main problem is that if a wiki macro parameter allows wiki syntax, its default value is executed with the rights of the author of the document where it is used. This can be exploited by overriding a macro like the children macro that is used in a page that has programming right like the page XWiki.ChildrenMacro and thus allows arbitrary script macros. This vulnerability has been patched in XWiki 16.4.7, 16.10.3 and 17.0.0 by executing wiki parameters with the rights of the wiki macro's author when the parameter's value is the default value.

XWiki is a generic wiki platform. It's possible to execute any SQL query in Oracle by using the function like DBMS_XMLGEN or DBMS_XMLQUERY. The XWiki query validator does not sanitize functions that would be used in a simple select and Hibernate allows using any native function in an HQL query. This vulnerability is fixed in 16.10.2, 16.4.7, and 15.10.16.

May 21, 2025XWiki is a generic wiki platform.CVE-2025-48063 · Other software · xwiki · reported by GitHubMedium 4.8
XWiki is a generic wiki platform. In XWiki 16.10.0, required rights were introduced as a way to limit which rights a document can have. Part of the security model of required rights is that a user who doesn't have a right also cannot define that right as required right. That way, users who are editing documents on which required rights are enforced can be sure that they're not giving a right to a script or object that it didn't have before. A bug in the implementation of the enforcement of this rule means that in fact, it was possible for any user with edit right on a document to set programming right as required right. If then a user with programming right edited that document, the content of that document would gain programming right, allowing remote code execution. This thereby defeats most of the security benefits of required rights. As XWiki still performs the required rights analysis when a user edits a page even when required rights are enforced, the user with programming right would still be warned about the dangerous content unless the attacker managed to bypass this check. Note also that none of the affected versions include a UI for enabling the enforcing of required rig

XWiki is a generic wiki platform. In versions starting from 15.3-rc-1 to before 15.10.14, from 16.0.0-rc-1 to before 16.4.6, and from 16.5.0-rc-1 to before 16.10.0-rc-1, a user who can access pages located in the XWiki space (by default, anyone) can access the page XWiki.Authentication.Administration and (unless an authenticator is set in xwiki.cfg) switch to another installed authenticator. Note that, by default, there is only one authenticator available (Standard XWiki Authenticator). So, if no authenticator extension was installed, it's not really possible to do anything for an attacker. Also, in most cases, if an SSO authenticator is installed and utilized (like OIDC or LDAP for example), the worst an attacker can do is break authentication by switching back to the standard authenticator (that's because it's impossible to login to a user which does not have a stored password, and that's usually what SSO authenticator produce). This issue has been patched in versions 15.10.14, 16.4.6, and 16.10.0-rc-1.

There is no filtering for the results depending on current user rights, meaning an unauthenticated user could exploit this even in a private wiki. This issue has been patched in versions 14.10.22, 15.10.12, 16.4.3, and 16.7.0.

Apr 30, 2025XWiki is a generic wiki platform.CVE-2025-32974 · Other software · xwiki · reported by GitHubCritical 9
XWiki is a generic wiki platform. In versions starting from 15.9-rc-1 to before 15.10.8 and from 16.0.0-rc-1 to before 16.2.0, the required rights analysis doesn't consider TextAreas with default content type. When editing a page, XWiki warns since version 15.9 when there is content on the page like a script macro that would gain more rights due to the editing. This analysis doesn't consider certain kinds of properties, allowing a user to put malicious scripts in there that will be executed after a user with script, admin, or programming rights edited the page. Such a malicious script could impact the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the whole XWiki installation. This issue has been patched in versions 15.10.8 and 16.2.0.

XWiki is a generic wiki platform. In versions starting from 15.9-rc-1 to before 15.10.12, from 16.0.0-rc-1 to before 16.4.3, and from 16.5.0-rc-1 to before 16.8.0-rc-1, when a user with programming rights edits a document in XWiki that was last edited by a user without programming rights and contains an XWiki.ComponentClass, there is no warning that this will grant programming rights to this object. An attacker who created such a malicious object could use this to gain programming rights on the wiki. For this, the attacker needs to have edit rights on at least one page to place this object and then get an admin user to edit that document. This issue has been patched in versions 15.10.12, 16.4.3, and 16.8.0-rc-1.

The only impact of this is a slowdown in XWiki execution as the caches are re-filled. As this vulnerability requires script right to exploit, and script right already allows unlimited execution of scripts, the additional impact due to this vulnerability is low. This issue has been patched in versions 15.10.12, 16.4.3, and 16.8.0-rc-1.

XWiki is a generic wiki platform. In versions starting from 4.5.1 to before 15.10.13, from 16.0.0-rc-1 to before 16.4.4, and from 16.5.0-rc-1 to before 16.8.0-rc-1, the Solr script service doesn't take dropped programming rights into account. The Solr script service that is accessible in XWiki's scripting API normally requires programming rights to be called. Due to using the wrong API for checking rights, it doesn't take the fact into account that programming rights might have been dropped by calling `$xcontext.dropPermissions()`. If some code relies on this for the safety of executing Velocity code with the wrong author context, this could allow a user with script rights to either cause a high load by indexing documents or to temporarily remove documents from the search index. This issue has been patched in versions 15.10.13, 16.4.4, and 16.8.0-rc-1.

Apr 23, 2025XWiki is a generic wiki platform.CVE-2025-32969 · Other software · xwiki · reported by GitHubCritical 9.3
XWiki is a generic wiki platform. In versions starting from 1.8 and prior to 15.10.16, 16.4.6, and 16.10.1, it is possible for a remote unauthenticated user to escape from the HQL execution context and perform a blind SQL injection to execute arbitrary SQL statements on the database backend, including when "Prevent unregistered users from viewing pages, regardless of the page rights" and "Prevent unregistered users from editing pages, regardless of the page rights" options are enabled. Depending on the used database backend, the attacker may be able to not only obtain confidential information such as password hashes from the database, but also execute UPDATE/INSERT/DELETE queries. This issue has been patched in versions 16.10.1, 16.4.6 and 15.10.16. There is no known workaround, other than upgrading XWiki.

XWiki is a generic wiki platform. In versions starting from 1.6-milestone-1 to before 15.10.16, 16.4.6, and 16.10.1, it is possible for a user with SCRIPT right to escape from the HQL execution context and perform a blind SQL injection to execute arbitrary SQL statements on the database backend. The protection added to this REST API is the same as the one used to validate complete select queries, making it more consistent. However, while the script API always had this protection for complete queries, it's important to note that it's a very strict protection and some valid, but complex, queries might suddenly require the author to have programming right.

Apr 16, 2025XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform.CVE-2025-32783 · Other software · xwiki · reported by GitHubMedium 4.7
XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform. A vulnerability in versions from 5.0 to 16.7.1 affects users with Message Stream enabled and a wiki configured as closed from selecting "Prevent unregistered users to view pages" in the Administrations Rights. The vulnerability is that any message sent in a subwiki to "everyone" is actually sent to the farm: any visitor of the main wiki will be able to see that message through the Dashboard, even if the subwiki is configured to be private. This issue will not be patched as Message Stream has been deprecated in XWiki 16.8.0RC1 and is not maintained anymore. A workaround for this issue involves keeping Message Stream disabled by default. It's advised to keep it disabled from Administration > Social > Message Stream.

XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform. Prior to 15.10.14, 16.4.6, and 16.10.0-rc-1, protected pages are listed when requesting the REST endpoints /rest/wikis/[wikiName]/pages even if the user doesn't have view rights on them. It's particularly true if the entire wiki is protected with "Prevent unregistered user to view pages": the endpoint would still list the pages of the wiki, though only for the main wiki. The problem has been patched in XWiki 15.10.14, 16.4.6, 16.10.0RC1. In those versions the endpoint can still be requested but the result is filtered out based on pages rights.

Jan 14, 2025XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform offering runtime services for applications built on top of it.CVE-2025-23025 · Other software · xwiki · reported by GitHubCritical 9
XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform offering runtime services for applications built on top of it. NOTE: The Realtime WYSIWYG Editor extension was **experimental**, and thus **not recommended**, in the versions affected by this vulnerability. It has become enabled by default, and thus recommended, starting with XWiki 16.9.0. A user with only **edit right** can join a realtime editing session where others, that where already there or that may join later, have **script** or **programming** access rights. This user can then insert **script rendering macros** that are executed for those users in the realtime session that have script or programming rights. The inserted scripts can be used to gain more access rights. This vulnerability has been patched in XWiki 15.10.2, 16.4.1 and 16.6.0-rc-1. Users are advised to upgrade. Users unable to upgrade may either disable the realtime WYSIWYG editing by disabling the ``xwiki-realtime`` CKEditor plugin from the WYSIWYG editor administration section or uninstall the Realtime WYSIWYG Editorextension (org.xwiki.platform:xwiki-platform-realtime-wysiwyg-ui).
