Nokogiri versions before 1.19.1 fail to check the return value from xmlC14NExecute in the canonicalize method, returning an empty string on failure instead of raising an exception. Attackers can exploit this to bypass signature validation in downstream SAML libraries by providing invalid canonicalized XML that is incorrectly accepted as valid.

  • Aug 25, 2026Nokogiri versions before 1.19.3 contain a memory leak in the XSLT Stylesheet transform method when processing Ruby strings containing null bytes.CVE-2026-79771 · Other software · sparklemotion · reported by VulnCheckMedium 6.9

Nokogiri versions before 1.19.3 contain a memory leak in the XSLT Stylesheet transform method when processing Ruby strings containing null bytes. Attackers can exploit this by passing attacker-controlled input with null bytes to transform parameters, causing heap allocations to leak and enabling denial of service against long-running processes.

  • Aug 25, 2026Nokogiri versions before 1.19.4 contain a possible invalid (out-of-bounds) memory read in the protected internal Node#initialize_copy_with_args helper behind NoCVE-2026-79769 · Other software · sparklemotion · reported by VulnCheckHigh 8.7

Nokogiri versions before 1.19.4 contain a possible invalid (out-of-bounds) memory read in the protected internal Node#initialize_copy_with_args helper behind Node#dup and #clone, which unwrapped its source argument as an xmlNode without a type check. If application code calls this protected method with a non-Node argument (e.g., a Namespace), it reads an xmlNs out of bounds, crashing the process. This is only triggerable by a programming error and cannot be triggered by untrusted input or normal use of the public API. Only CRuby is affected. Version 1.19.4 adds a type check and raises TypeError.

  • Aug 12, 2026Loofah is a general library for manipulating and transforming HTML/XML documents and fragments, built on top of Nokogiri.CVE-2026-73492 · Other software · flavorjones · reported by GitHubLow 2.3

Loofah is a general library for manipulating and transforming HTML/XML documents and fragments, built on top of Nokogiri. From 2.25.0 until 2.25.2, Loofah::HTML5::Scrub.allowed_uri? does not reject javascript: or vbscript: URIs whose scheme is split by semicolon-less numeric character references such as &#58, &#9, &#10, or &#13. CGI.unescapeHTML leaves these references encoded, so allowed_uri? reports the URL safe even though a browser decodes an encoded colon or strips encoded whitespace and executes the resulting URI scheme. This issue affects only callers that pass HTML-encoded strings directly to allowed_uri?; Loofah's default sanitize() path is not affected. This issue is fixed in version 2.25.2.

  • Aug 12, 2026Loofah is a general library for manipulating and transforming HTML/XML documents and fragments, built on top of Nokogiri.CVE-2026-73490 · Other software · flavorjones · reported by GitHubMedium 4.7

Loofah is a general library for manipulating and transforming HTML/XML documents and fragments, built on top of Nokogiri. Prior to 2.25.2, Loofah's HTML5 sanitizer applies its local-reference restriction only to the xlink:href attribute on SVG use and feImage elements, while browsers also accept the plain href attribute. A crafted sanitized SVG can therefore reference an arbitrary same-origin external document; use may render external SVG content containing scripts or other dangerous content, and feImage may load external images for tracking. Applications that sanitize user-supplied SVG with Loofah's default allowlist are affected. This issue is fixed in version 2.25.2.

  • Jun 25, 2026Nokogiri is an open source XML and HTML library for the Ruby programming language.CVE-2026-57438 · Other software · sparklemotion · reported by GitHubLow 2.2

Nokogiri is an open source XML and HTML library for the Ruby programming language. Prior to 1.19.4, XInclude substitution performed by Nokogiri::XML::Node#do_xinclude replaced each <xi:include> in place, freeing the include node along with its children (such as <xi:fallback> and its descendants) and any namespaces declared on them. If an application had already exposed one of those nodes or namespaces to Ruby, the corresponding Ruby object was left pointing at freed memory. Using the object could result in invalid reads or writes to memory. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.19.4.

  • Jun 25, 2026Nokogiri is an open source XML and HTML library for the Ruby programming language.CVE-2026-57437 · Other software · sparklemotion · reported by GitHubLow 1.7

Nokogiri is an open source XML and HTML library for the Ruby programming language. Prior to 1.19.4, Nokogiri::XML::XPathContext did not keep its source document alive for garbage collection. If an XPathContext outlived its document and the document was collected, evaluating an XPath expression could read invalid memory and potentially segfault. This is only reachable when application code constructs an XPathContext directly and lets the document become unreachable while continuing to use the context. The normal Document#xpath, #css, and related search methods are not affected, and it is not triggerable by malicious document input. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.19.4.

  • Jun 25, 2026Nokogiri is an open source XML and HTML library for the Ruby programming language.CVE-2026-57436 · Other software · sparklemotion · reported by GitHubLow 1.7

Nokogiri is an open source XML and HTML library for the Ruby programming language. Prior to 1.19.4, Nokogiri::XML::Document#root= validated only that the new root was a Nokogiri::XML::Node, allowing a DTD node to be set as the document root. The result is a heap use-after-free during garbage collection or finalization, leading to an invalid memory read or potentially a segfault. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.19.4.

  • Jun 25, 2026Nokogiri is an open source XML and HTML library for the Ruby programming language.CVE-2026-57435 · Other software · sparklemotion · reported by GitHubLow 1.7

Nokogiri is an open source XML and HTML library for the Ruby programming language. Prior to 1.19.4, Nokogiri’s CRuby native extension could leave a Ruby wrapper pointing to freed memory when replacing the value of an XML attribute. If Ruby code had already accessed an attribute child node, Nokogiri::XML::Attr#value= could free the underlying native child node while the wrapper remained reachable through the document node cache. A later use of the freed child node or a Ruby GC mark could dereference an invalid pointer, causing an invalid read and a possible segfault. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.19.4.

Nokogiri is an open source XML and HTML library for the Ruby programming language. Prior to 1.19.4, Nokogiri contains a bug when calling certain methods on allocated-but-uninitialized native wrapper classes that inherit from Nokogiri::XML::Node. This caused a NULL pointer dereference that could crash the process. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.19.4.

  • Jun 25, 2026Nokogiri is an open source XML and HTML library for the Ruby programming language.CVE-2026-57236 · Other software · sparklemotion · reported by GitHubLow 1.7

Nokogiri is an open source XML and HTML library for the Ruby programming language. Prior to 1.19.4, calling Document#encoding= with an invalid encoding (e.g., a non-string, or a string containing a null byte) raises an exception, but only after freeing the document's current encoding string without replacing it. The document is left referencing freed memory, so the next call to Document#encoding reads invalid memory, which can cause a segfault or leak freed bytes into a Ruby String. Affects the CRuby (libxml2) implementation only; JRuby is not affected. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.19.4.

  • Jun 25, 2026Nokogiri is an open source XML and HTML library for the Ruby programming language.CVE-2026-57235 · Other software · sparklemotion · reported by GitHubMedium 6.3

Nokogiri is an open source XML and HTML library for the Ruby programming language. Prior to 1.19.4, Nokogiri::XML::NodeSet#[] (and its alias #slice) checked the requested index against the node set's bounds using a 32-bit-truncated copy of the index. A large negative index could pass the check and then be used at full width, reading outside the node set's storage. On CRuby this is an out-of-bounds read that typically crashes the process; on JRuby it is not memory-unsafe but returns an incorrect node. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.19.4.

  • Jun 25, 2026Nokogiri is an open source XML and HTML library for the Ruby programming language.CVE-2026-57234 · Other software · sparklemotion · reported by GitHubLow 2.6

Nokogiri is an open source XML and HTML library for the Ruby programming language. Prior to 1.19.4, the NONET parse option, which Nokogiri turns on by default for Nokogiri::XML::Schema (see CVE-2020-26247), was not correctly enforced on the JRuby implementation. As a result, a schema parsed with default options could still cause external resources to be fetched over the network, potentially enabling SSRF or XXE attacks. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.19.4.

  • Dec 7, 2022Nokogiri is an open source XML and HTML library for the Ruby programming language.CVE-2022-23476 · Other software · sparklemotion · reported by GitHubHigh 7.5

Nokogiri is an open source XML and HTML library for the Ruby programming language. Nokogiri `1.13.8` and `1.13.9` fail to check the return value from `xmlTextReaderExpand` in the method `Nokogiri::XML::Reader#attribute_hash`. This can lead to a null pointer exception when invalid markup is being parsed. For applications using `XML::Reader` to parse untrusted inputs, this may potentially be a vector for a denial of service attack. Users are advised to upgrade to Nokogiri `>= 1.13.10`. Users may be able to search their code for calls to either `XML::Reader#attributes` or `XML::Reader#attribute_hash` to determine if they are affected.

Nokogiri is a Rubygem providing HTML, XML, SAX, and Reader parsers with XPath and CSS selector support. In Nokogiri before version 1.11.0.rc4 there is an XXE vulnerability. XML Schemas parsed by Nokogiri::XML::Schema are trusted by default, allowing external resources to be accessed over the network, potentially enabling XXE or SSRF attacks. This behavior is counter to the security policy followed by Nokogiri maintainers, which is to treat all input as untrusted by default whenever possible. This is fixed in Nokogiri version 1.11.0.rc4.
