  • Oct 28, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: pipe: preserve existing fasync readers on writer setup failure F_SETFL and FIOASYNC decideCVE-2026-99203 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: pipe: preserve existing fasync readers on writer setup failure F_SETFL and FIOASYNC decide whether to invoke ->fasync() before pipe_fasync() takes pipe->mutex. Two enables of one O_RDWR FIFO can therefore both enter the callback. fasync_helper() allocates before checking for an existing entry. If the first enable installs both entries, a second enable can update the reader entry and then fail the allocation for the writer entry. The error path removes the pre-existing reader entry, clearing FASYNC while the writer entry remains registered. __fput() then skips ->fasync(), so a later pipe notification can dereference the freed file or its f_owner. An unprivileged memory-pressure reproducer triggers a KASAN slab-use-after-free in send_sigio() through this path. Keep the reader helper's result and undo the registration only if this call added it. The pipe mutex serializes changes to both lists, so a failed new registration still removes its reader, while a failed duplicate preserves the existing registrations and FASYNC. Successful duplicate enables continue to update fa_fd as before.

  • Oct 18, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: s390/vfio-ap: fix KVM GISC and page leak when queue removed from host config Three relatedCVE-2026-98473 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: s390/vfio-ap: fix KVM GISC and page leak when queue removed from host config Three related problems exist in the handling of KVM interrupt and page resources when a queue is removed from the host's AP configuration while assigned to a mediated device (mdev). Problem 1: ~~~~~~~~~ AP_RESPONSE_Q_NOT_AVAIL not handled in vfio_ap_mdev_reset_queue() When the AP bus removes a queue device whose adapter or domain has been removed from the host's AP configuration, vfio_ap_mdev_remove_queue() is called. If the queue is still in the host's AP configuration at that point, it calls vfio_ap_mdev_reset_queue(), which issues a PQAP(ZAPQ). Since the adapter is already gone from the host configuration, ap_zapq() returns AP_RESPONSE_Q_NOT_AVAIL (0x01). This response code is not handled in vfio_ap_mdev_reset_queue()'s switch statement and falls through to the default case, which issues a WARN but does not call vfio_ap_free_aqic_resources(). As a result, if IRQ handling was enabled for the queue by the guest, the KVM GISC registration and the pinned guest page holding the notification indicator byte (NIB) are both leaked. This is

  • Sep 24, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: s390/vfio-ap: fix potential use of uninitialized apm_filtered bitmap The DECLARE_BITMAP(apCVE-2026-93238 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: s390/vfio-ap: fix potential use of uninitialized apm_filtered bitmap The DECLARE_BITMAP(apm_filtered, AP_DEVICES) macro allocates the bitmap on the stack without zero-initializing it. In vfio_ap_mdev_hot_plug_cfg(), the vfio_ap_mdev_filter_matrix() function is only called to initialize and populate apm_filtered if either filter_adapters or filter_domains is true. If the hot plug configuration change only adds control domains (meaning filter_cdoms is true, but filter_adapters and filter_domains are both false), vfio_ap_mdev_filter_matrix() is bypassed. Consequently, apm_filtered is passed to reset_queues_for_apids() with uninitialized stack garbage. This can cause reset_queues_for_apids() to interpret arbitrary stack garbage bits as valid APIDs to reset, potentially performing unintended guest hardware queue resets. Fix this by zero-initializing the apm_filtered bitmap at the beginning of vfio_ap_mdev_hot_plug_cfg() using bitmap_zero().

  • Sep 16, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: s390/vfio-ap: fix stale pqap_hook pointer on error in vfio_ap_mdev_set_kvm() In vfio_ap_mdCVE-2026-89960 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67High 8.8

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: s390/vfio-ap: fix stale pqap_hook pointer on error in vfio_ap_mdev_set_kvm() In vfio_ap_mdev_set_kvm(), kvm->arch.crypto.pqap_hook is set to &matrix_mdev->pqap_hook before the update locks are acquired and the mdev list is checked for a conflicting assignment. If another mdev is already attached to the same KVM instance, the function returns -EPERM without restoring the hook pointer, leaving kvm->arch.crypto.pqap_hook pointing at the failing matrix_mdev instead of the mdev that legitimately owns the KVM. Since matrix_mdev->kvm is never set on this error path, vfio_ap_mdev_unset_kvm() will not clean up the hook when matrix_mdev is later closed. If matrix_mdev is subsequently freed, any PQAP instruction executed by the guest will dereference the stale pointer through pqap_hook_rwsem, resulting in a use-after-free. Since kvm->arch.crypto.pqap_hook is only set in the vfio_ap_mdev_set_kvm() function and is cleared in the vfio_ap_mdev_unset_kvm() function, a check for 'kvm->arch.crypto.pqap_hook != NULL' is all that is needed to determine whether it belongs to another mdev. This will alleviate the need to iterate the

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: s390/vfio-ap: Fix hot-unplug skipped when last AP adapter or domain removed The vfio_ap_mdev_hot_unplug_cfg() function uses the return value of bitmap_andnot() to determine whether the guest APCB needs to be updated. However, bitmap_andnot() returns false when the resulting destination bitmap is empty. This means that if the only adapter, domain or control domain assigned to an mdev is removed from the host's AP configuration, the bit is correctly cleared from the shadow APCB, but bitmap_andnot() returns false because the result is an empty bitmap. Consequently, do_hotplug remains 0 and vfio_ap_mdev_update_guest_apcb() is never called, leaving the KVM guest with stale hardware access to the unplugged AP devices. Fix this by replacing the bitmap_andnot() return value check with bitmap_intersects() to determine whether the shadow APCB actually overlaps with the removal mask. If there is an intersection, call bitmap_andnot() solely for its side effect of clearing the bits, then unconditionally set do_hotplug to trigger the guest APCB update.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: s390/vfio-ap: Fix missing lock required to access list of ap_matrix_mdev objects In order to traverse or add/remove ap_matrix_mdev objects in the matrix_dev->mdev_list, the matrix_dev->guests_lock mutex must be held. There are two functions that access the list without holding the mutex: vfio_ap_mdev_probe function ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The vfio_ap_mdev_probe function uses the matrix_dev->mdevs_lock mutex to guard the add of a newly created ap_matrix_mdev object to the matrix_dev->mdev_list. This mutex does not protect list access; its purpose is to guard against concurrent access to fields contained in an ap_matrix_mdev object. This could lead to kernel memory corruption or use-after-free if another mdev is created or removed concurrently. The adding of an ap_matrix_mdev object to matrix_dev->mdev_list is now guarded by the matrix_dev->guests_lock which is the correct way to protect against concurrent mdev_list access. Also removed the following two lines of code because the matrix_mdev is allocated via vfio_alloc_device macro which uses kzalloc, so req_trigger and cfg_chg_trigger are already zero-initi

  • Sep 16, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: s390/vfio-ap: Fix NULL deref in status_show() during queue probe When vfio_ap_mdev_probe_qCVE-2026-89955 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: s390/vfio-ap: Fix NULL deref in status_show() during queue probe When vfio_ap_mdev_probe_queue() creates the sysfs attribute group, the queue's driver data has not yet been set. A concurrent read of the 'status' attribute can therefore call dev_get_drvdata() and get NULL, which is then passed directly to vfio_ap_mdev_for_queue() where q->apqn is unconditionally dereferenced, causing a NULL pointer dereference. Fix this by acquiring the update locks before calling sysfs_create_group(). The status_show() function acquires guests_lock before reading the driver data, so any concurrent read will block until after dev_set_drvdata() has been called and the update locks are released. As a bonus, the APQN no longer needs to be read from the queue struct after allocation — it can be read directly from apdev before allocation and stored in a local variable, which is then assigned to q->apqn once the allocation succeeds.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: vfio/pci: clear vdev->msi_perm after freeing it on init failure vfio_msi_cap_len() lazily allocates the per-device MSI permission table: vdev->msi_perm = kmalloc_obj(struct perm_bits, GFP_KERNEL_ACCOUNT); if (!vdev->msi_perm) return -ENOMEM; ret = init_pci_cap_msi_perm(vdev->msi_perm, len, flags); if (ret) { kfree(vdev->msi_perm); return ret; /* vdev->msi_perm left dangling */ } When init_pci_cap_msi_perm() -> alloc_perm_bits() fails with -ENOMEM, the error path frees vdev->msi_perm but leaves the freed pointer stored in it. vdev->msi_perm is not re-zeroed later because struct vfio_pci_core_device is per-device and persists across open/close cycles, and the vfio_config_init() error path returns without calling vfio_config_free(). So the dangling pointer outlives the failed open. That leads to two use-after-frees on the same device: 1. Reuse. The next vfio_config_init() sees the stale pointer at "if (vdev->msi_perm) return len;" and reuses the freed object. MSI config accesses in vfio_pci_config_rw_single() then dereference and call the freed perm->readfn / perm->writefn function pointers

alf.io is an open source ticket reservation system for conferences, trade shows, workshops, and meetups. An Improper Access Control issue in versions prior to 2.0-M5-2605 allows an organization owner to read system-level configuration secrets through organization/event scoped "single configuration" endpoints. The affected endpoints require organization or event ownership, but they accept an arbitrary configuration key and then return the first matching value from a lookup that includes system-level configuration. As a result, an organization owner can retrieve secrets intended to be administrator-only, including the system API key when it is configured. Version 2.0-M5-2605 fixes the issue.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: s390/vfio_ccw: Free all memory if cp_init() fails The routine cp_free() is called to unpin/free any memory once an I/O is completed successfully, or if cp_prefetch() fails. But if cp_init() fails, and cp->initialized is not enabled, the same routine cannot be used to free all the memory. An attempt to address this exists in ccwchain_handle_ccw(), where a single call to ccwchain_free() is made for the currently-processed CCW segment. But this will leak other segments (created as a result of a Transfer in Channel) that had been allocated as part of the same channel program. Address this by performing the cleanup outside of the recursive ccwchain_handle_ccw()/ccwchain_loop_tic() logic.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: s390/vfio_ccw: Limit the number of channel program segments The processing of channel programs, and the CCWs within them, is done recursively. As such, there is an arbitrary (but not architectural) limit to the number of CCWs that can exist in a single channel program. The vfio-ccw logic breaks these channel programs into segments whenever it encounters a Transfer-In-Channel (TIC) CCW, and the combined number of segments count towards the global limit. Impose an equivalent limit to the number of segments until such logic can be made non-recursive.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: s390/vfio_ccw: Fix out of bounds check on CCW array The routine ccwchain_calc_length() counts the number of channel command words (CCWs) that are chained together in a single channel program, and rejects anything larger than CCWCHAIN_LEN_MAX (256) CCWs. The loop itself is "do..while (count < 257)", and while the logic in is_cpa_within_range() correctly adjusts between the 0-index array of CCWs and the count of CCWs starting at 1, this means it would look at a possible 257th CCW before ending the loop and (correctly) returning an error. Fix this by restructuring the loop to break as soon as 256 CCWs (thus indexes 0-255) are examined, without looking at memory outside the range.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: s390/vfio_ccw: Selectively expand io_mutex The io_mutex was defined to serialize the io_regions, but then has also sort of been associated with the I/O themselves because of the close relationship they share. With the handful of races that are possible, the choices are either to: A) expand the scope of io_mutex to close these remaining windows, or B) reduce the scope of io_mutex to just io_region, and introduce a new lock mechanism for the remaining I/O resources This patch implements A, since B brings with it a lot more interactions that would need to be tracked and kept in a correct hierarchy. It also takes advantage of the workqueue element for cp_free() that now gets called out of fsm_notoper(), which could be invoked out of an interrupt context and thus cannot acquire a mutex itself.

PDFio before 1.6.5 contains a dangling pointer vulnerability in the dictionary string-formatting function that stores a pointer to a stack-local buffer in the document dictionary without copying the string value. In multi-threaded or pooled-request environments, attackers or concurrent users can trigger stack memory reuse across requests, causing cross-tenant document content corruption by silently overwriting one caller's dictionary string values with another caller's data.

Take migf->lock before doing the boundary checks.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: vfio/pci: Latch disable_idle_d3 per device When disable_idle_d3 was introduced in vfio-pci, it directly manipulated the device power state with pci_set_power_state(). There were no refcounts to maintain or balanced operations, we could unconditionally bring the device to D0 and conditionally move it to D3hot. Therefore the module parameter was made writable. Later, in commit c61302aa48f7 ("vfio/pci: Move module parameters to vfio_pci.c"), as part of the vfio-pci-core split, the writable aspect of the module parameter was nullified. The parameter value could still be changed through sysfs, but the vfio-pci driver latched the values into vfio-pci-core globals at module init. Loading the vfio-pci module, or unloading and reloading, with non-default or different values could change the globals relative to existing devices bound to vfio-pci variant drivers. Runtime PM was introduced in commit 7ab5e10eda02 ("vfio/pci: Move the unused device into low power state with runtime PM"), which marks the point where power states became refcounted. PM get and put operations need to be balanced, but the same module operati

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: vfio/pci: Release the VGA arbiter client on register_device() failure The re-order in the Fixes commit below displaced vfio_pci_vga_init() as the last failure point of what is now vfio_pci_core_register_device() without introducing an unwind for the VGA arbiter registration. In current kernels this is mostly benign because vfio_pci_set_decode() only uses pci_dev state, but the original failure path could leave a callback with a freed vdev cookie. The stale registration also becomes unsafe again once the callback follows drvdata to the vfio device. Add the required VGA unwind callout.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: vfio: prevent infinite loop in vfio_mig_get_next_state() on blocked arc vfio_mig_get_next_state() walks vfio_from_fsm_table[] one step at a time, looping to skip optional states the device does not support until *next_fsm is supported. A blocked transition is encoded as VFIO_DEVICE_STATE_ERROR, which the trailing return reports as -EINVAL. The skip loop does not account for the ERROR sentinel. state_flags_table[ERROR] is ~0U and vfio_from_fsm_table[ERROR][*] is ERROR, so once *next_fsm becomes ERROR the loop condition stays true and *next_fsm never changes. The blocked arcs STOP_COPY -> PRE_COPY and STOP_COPY -> PRE_COPY_P2P map to ERROR yet pass the support check on a precopy-capable device, causing the loop to spin forever while holding the driver state mutex. This can result in a soft lockup, and a panic with softlockup_panic set. Terminate the skip loop on the ERROR sentinel so a blocked transition falls through to the existing return and reports -EINVAL.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: vfio: Remove device debugfs before releasing devres VFIO device debugfs files created with debugfs_create_devm_seqfile() store a devres allocated debugfs_devm_entry as inode private data. vfio_unregister_group_dev() currently calls vfio_device_del() before vfio_device_debugfs_exit(), but device_del() releases devres. This can leave debugfs entries visible with stale inode private data while unregister waits for userspace references to drain. Remove the per-device debugfs tree before vfio_device_del(). The debugfs view is diagnostic only, so losing it at the start of unregister is preferable to preserving entries whose backing storage may already have been released. Complete the teardown by clearing the per-device debugfs root after removal. This matches the global debugfs root cleanup and prevents future users from mistaking a removed dentry for a live debugfs tree during the remainder of unregister.

alf.io is an open source ticket reservation system for conferences, trade shows, workshops, and meetups. Prior to version 2.0-M5-2606, the alf.io extension sandbox injects a fully-functional HTTP client (`simpleHttpClient`) into every extension script's scope. The `postFileAndSaveResponse()` method accepts an arbitrary filesystem path as its `file` parameter and reads the file contents using `new FileInputStream(file)` with no path validation, directory restriction, or allowlist. A malicious extension script can read any file accessible to the JVM process user and exfiltrate it to an attacker-controlled server via HTTP POST. Version 2.0-M5-2606 patches the issue.

Prior to version 2.0-M5-2606, a sandbox escape vulnerability in the alf.io extension script engine allows an authenticated administrator to execute arbitrary operating system commands on the server. The extension system is intended to execute restricted JavaScript in a sandboxed Rhino environment; however, a combination of an unguarded injected Java object (`returnClass`) and an incomplete AST blocklist allows the sandbox to be fully escaped using Java reflection without triggering any validation errors. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: fbdev: defio: Disconnect deferred I/O from the lifetime of struct fb_info Hold state of deferred I/O in struct fb_deferred_io_state. Allocate an instance as part of initializing deferred I/O and remove it only after the final mapping has been closed. If the fb_info and the contained deferred I/O meanwhile goes away, clear struct fb_deferred_io_state.info to invalidate the mapping. Any access will then result in a SIGBUS signal. Fixes a long-standing problem, where a device hot-unplug happens while user space still has an active mapping of the graphics memory. The hot- unplug frees the instance of struct fb_info. Accessing the memory will operate on undefined state.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: vfio/cdx: Serialize VFIO_DEVICE_SET_IRQS with a per-device mutex vfio_cdx_set_msi_trigger() reads vdev->config_msi and operates on the vdev->cdx_irqs array based on its value, but provides no serialization against concurrent VFIO_DEVICE_SET_IRQS ioctls. Two callers can race such that one observes config_msi as set while another clears it and frees cdx_irqs via vfio_cdx_msi_disable(), resulting in a use-after-free of the cdx_irqs array. Add a cdx_irqs_lock mutex to struct vfio_cdx_device and acquire it in vfio_cdx_set_msi_trigger(), which is the single chokepoint through which all updates to config_msi, cdx_irqs, and msi_count flow, covering both the ioctl path and the close-device cleanup path. This keeps the test of config_msi atomic with the subsequent enable, disable, or trigger operations. Drop the pre-call !cdx_irqs test from vfio_cdx_irqs_cleanup() as part of this change: the optimization it provided is redundant with the !config_msi early-return inside vfio_cdx_msi_disable(), and leaving the test in place would be an unsynchronized read of state the new lock is meant to protect.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: vfio/cdx: Fix NULL pointer dereference in interrupt trigger path Add validation to ensure MSI is configured before accessing cdx_irqs array in vfio_cdx_set_msi_trigger(). Without this check, userspace can trigger a NULL pointer dereference by calling VFIO_DEVICE_SET_IRQS with VFIO_IRQ_SET_DATA_BOOL or VFIO_IRQ_SET_DATA_NONE flags before ever setting up interrupts via VFIO_IRQ_SET_DATA_EVENTFD. The vfio_cdx_msi_enable() function allocates the cdx_irqs array and sets config_msi to 1 only when called through the EVENTFD path. The trigger loop (for DATA_BOOL/DATA_NONE) assumed this had already been done, but there was no enforcement of this call ordering. This matches the protection used in the PCI VFIO driver where vfio_pci_set_msi_trigger() checks irq_is() before the trigger loop.
