WhoDB 0.104.0 before 0.135.0 contains a path traversal vulnerability that allows remote attackers to read and write arbitrary host files by running DuckDB filesystem functions through the query editor. Attackers can log in to a DuckDB file without credentials and use read_text, read_blob, COPY ... TO or ATTACH to steal session.key and stored database credentials or overwrite files.

The DuckDB AWS extension for DuckDB contains a security policy bypass vulnerability that allows any database user with SQL execution permissions to extract plaintext AWS credentials by calling the load_aws_credentials function with the redact_secret parameter set to false, circumventing the database-wide allow_unredacted_secrets=false policy. Attackers can invoke this single function to retrieve the underlying AWS credential chain including access_key_id, secret_access_key, session_token, and region in plaintext, which are immediately valid against AWS APIs and particularly impactful in managed environments where pg_duckdb is preloaded and an AWS credential chain such as IMDSv2, IRSA, ECS task role, or EC2 instance role is reachable.

  • Nov 12, 2025DuckDB is a SQL database management system.CVE-2025-64429 · Other software · duckdb · reported by GitHubMedium 6.9

DuckDB is a SQL database management system. DuckDB implemented block-based encryption of DB on the filesystem starting with DuckDB 1.4.0. There are a few issues related to this implementation. The DuckDB can fall back to an insecure random number generator (pcg32) to generate cryptographic keys or IVs. When clearing keys from memory, the compiler may remove the memset() and leave sensitive data on the heap. By modifying the database header, an attacker could downgrade the encryption mode from GCM to CTR to bypass integrity checks. There may be a failure to check return value on call to OpenSSL `rand_bytes()`. An attacker could use public IVs to compromise the internal state of RNG and determine the randomly generated key used to encrypt temporary files, get access to cryptographic keys if they have access to process memory (e.g. through memory leak),circumvent GCM integrity checks, and/or influence the OpenSSL random number generator and DuckDB would not be able to detect a failure of the generator. Version 1.4.2 has disabled the insecure random number generator by no longer using the fallback to write to or create databases. Instead, DuckDB will now attempt to install and load the

  • Sep 9, 2025DuckDB is an analytical in-process SQL database management system.CVE-2025-59037 · Other software · duckdb · reported by GitHubHigh 8.6

DuckDB is an analytical in-process SQL database management system. On 08 September 2025, the DuckDB distribution for Node.js on npm was compromised with malware (along with several other packages). An attacker published new versions of four of DuckDB's packages that included malicious code to interfere with cryptocoin transactions* According to the npm statistics, nobody has downloaded these packages before they were deprecated. The packages and versions `@duckdb/node-api@1.3.3`, `@duckdb/node-bindings@1.3.3`, `duckdb@1.3.3`, and `@duckdb/duckdb-wasm@1.29.2` were affected. DuckDB immediately deprecated the specific versions, engaged npm support to delete the affected verions, and re-released the node packages with higher version numbers (1.3.4/1.30.0). Users may upgrade to versions 1.3.4, 1.30.0, or a higher version to protect themselves. As a workaround, they may also downgrade to 1.3.2 or 1.29.1.

An SQL injection vulnerability exists in the delete function of DuckDBVectorStore in run-llama/llama_index version v0.12.19. This vulnerability allows an attacker to manipulate the ref_doc_id parameter, enabling them to read and write arbitrary files on the server, potentially leading to remote code execution (RCE).

  • Mar 20, 2025A Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) vulnerability exists in the latest version of vanna-ai/vanna when using DuckDB as the database.CVE-2024-8099 · Other software · vanna-ai · reported by security@huntr.devHigh 8.3

A Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) vulnerability exists in the latest version of vanna-ai/vanna when using DuckDB as the database. An attacker can exploit this vulnerability by submitting crafted SQL queries that leverage DuckDB's default features, such as `read_csv`, `read_csv_auto`, `read_text`, and `read_blob`, to make unauthorized requests to internal or external resources. This can lead to unauthorized access to sensitive data, internal systems, and potentially further attacks.

  • Mar 20, 2025A SQL injection vulnerability exists in the `duckdb_retriever` component of the run-llama/llama_index repository, specifically in the latest version.CVE-2024-11958 · Other software · run-llama · reported by security@huntr.devCritical 9.8

A SQL injection vulnerability exists in the `duckdb_retriever` component of the run-llama/llama_index repository, specifically in the latest version. The vulnerability arises from the construction of SQL queries without using prepared statements, allowing an attacker to inject arbitrary SQL code. This can lead to remote code execution (RCE) by installing the shellfs extension and executing malicious commands.

  • Oct 18, 2024The SQL Expressions experimental feature of Grafana allows for the evaluation of `duckdb` queries containing user input.CVE-2024-9264 · Other software · Grafana · reported by security@grafana.comCritical 9.4

The SQL Expressions experimental feature of Grafana allows for the evaluation of `duckdb` queries containing user input. These queries are insufficiently sanitized before being passed to `duckdb`, leading to a command injection and local file inclusion vulnerability. Any user with the VIEWER or higher permission is capable of executing this attack. The `duckdb` binary must be present in Grafana's $PATH for this attack to function; by default, this binary is not installed in Grafana distributions.

  • Jul 24, 2024DuckDB is a SQL database management system.CVE-2024-41672 · Other software · duckdb · reported by GitHubHigh 7.5

DuckDB is a SQL database management system. In versions 1.0.0 and prior, content in filesystem is accessible for reading using `sniff_csv`, even with `enable_external_access=false`. This vulnerability provides an attacker with access to filesystem even when access is expected to be disabled and other similar functions do NOT provide access. There seem to be two vectors to this vulnerability. First, access to files that should otherwise not be allowed. Second, the content from a file can be read (e.g. `/etc/hosts`, `proc/self/environ`, etc) even though that doesn't seem to be the intent of the sniff_csv function. A fix for this issue is available in commit c9b7c98aa0e1cd7363fe8bb8543a95f38e980d8a and is expected to be part of version 1.1.0.

  • Jun 28, 2024Vanna v0.3.4 is vulnerable to SQL injection in its DuckDB integration exposed to its Flask Web APIs.CVE-2024-5827 · Other software · vanna-ai · reported by security@huntr.devCritical 9.8

Vanna v0.3.4 is vulnerable to SQL injection in its DuckDB integration exposed to its Flask Web APIs. Attackers can inject malicious SQL training data and generate corresponding queries to write arbitrary files on the victim's file system, such as backdoor.php with contents `<?php system($_GET[0]); ?>`. This can lead to command execution or the creation of backdoors.

Where this comes from: the exploited list is CISA’s Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog. Everything else is the whole National Vulnerability Database, where each record is published by the team that found the bug (Wordfence, Patchstack, WPScan, the vendors themselves and others); we show who. Exploit odds are FIRST’s EPSS, updated daily. Titles and categories are ours, so check the linked record before acting on a detail. For a write-up of the big ones, see our advisories. Every vendor, and every WordPress plugin and theme with a recorded flaw, also has its own page. All of it is free to reuse as JSON, CSV or RSS.
