  • Sep 4, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: futex/pi: Reject cross-mm private futex owners A private futex key borrows the waiter's mmCVE-2026-80778 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: futex/pi: Reject cross-mm private futex owners A private futex key borrows the waiter's mm without taking an mm_users reference. Nevertheless, attach_to_pi_owner() currently accepts an owner from a different address space and copies the private key into the owner's PI state. When that owner exits, exit_pi_state_list() uses the saved key to find the hash bucket and acquires a reference to the waiter's private hash. If the last user of the waiter's mm exits concurrently, futex_hash_free() frees the hash while the owner still uses its bucket and reference. Prevent this by validating in attach_to_pi_owner() that, for private futexes, the owner mm and waiter mm are the same. Perform the check with the owner's pi_lock held and after validating owner::futex::state to serialize against a concurrent PI-state exit cleanup. [ tglx: Amended comment ]

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: futex/pi: Plug private futex exec() race The check for private futexes whether the waiter's mm, which is stored in the futex_key and copied into the pi_state, is the same as the owner's mm is not sufficient for exec(). exec() has a gap where the mm check fails to give the correct answer: exec() ... exec_release_mm() futex_exec_release() tsk::futex::exit_state = EXITING; cleanup_robust_list(); 1) tsk::futex::exit_state = OK; ... old_mm = tsk::mm; 2) tsk::mm = ->mm; Between #1 and #2 the check for the mm is wrong as that mm is about to be swapped out and eventually freed. Plug this gap by: 1) Setting tsk::futex::exit_state to FUTEX_STATE_DEAD in futex_exec_release() 2) Setting tsk::futex::exit_state to FUTEX_STATE_OK after the mm has been switched. From a futex point of view the task is dead after it finished the robust list cleanup up to the point where it sets the state to OK again.

  • Aug 28, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ALSA: pcm: wake linked drain waiters on unlink snd_pcm_drain() on a linked stream parks anCVE-2026-80716 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67High 7.8

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ALSA: pcm: wake linked drain waiters on unlink snd_pcm_drain() on a linked stream parks an on-stack wait entry on the drained peer's runtime->sleep, and after schedule_timeout() removes it only if that peer is still found in the caller's group. If group membership changes during the wait and the sleep ends by signal or timeout (so autoremove_wake_function() does not run), finish_wait() is skipped and snd_pcm_drain() returns with the entry still queued on that stream's sleep list; a later wake_up() then walks a freed stack frame. This is reachable by unlinking either the drained or the draining stream. Unlike the close path (snd_pcm_drop() -> snd_pcm_post_stop()), snd_pcm_unlink() never wakes the sleep queues. Wake every group member under the group lock before the membership change, so a linked drainer is released and drops its entry while the streams are still grouped. The window was opened when snd_pcm_link_rwsem stopped being held across the wait and the removal became conditional on group membership (see Fixes). The later switch to finish_wait() kept that conditional removal, so the signal/timeout case re

  • Jul 25, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: svcrdma: wake sq waiters when the transport closes Threads parked in svc_rdma_sq_wait() onCVE-2026-64281 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67High 7.5

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: svcrdma: wake sq waiters when the transport closes Threads parked in svc_rdma_sq_wait() on sc_sq_ticket_wait or sc_send_wait can hang indefinitely in TASK_UNINTERRUPTIBLE state across transport teardown, pinning svc_xprt references and blocking svc_rdma_free(). The close path sets XPT_CLOSE before invoking xpo_detach and both wait_event predicates include an XPT_CLOSE term, but the predicates are re-evaluated only on wakeup. sc_sq_ticket_wait has no completion-driven wake path; it is advanced solely by the chained ticket handoff inside svc_rdma_sq_wait() itself. Without an explicit wake at close, parked threads never observe XPT_CLOSE, hold their svc_xprt_get reference forever, and svc_rdma_free() blocks on xpt_ref dropping to zero. Two close entry points reach this transport. Local teardown runs svc_rdma_detach() from svc_handle_xprt() -> svc_delete_xprt() -> xpo_detach() on a worker thread. A remote disconnect arrives at svc_rdma_cma_handler(), which calls svc_xprt_deferred_close(): that sets XPT_CLOSE and enqueues the transport but does not access either RDMA waitqueue, so a worker already parked in svc_rdma

Furthermore, rt_mutex_start_proxy_lock() should not be calling into remove_waiter() upon a successfully grabbing the rtmutex. 1a1fb985f2e2 ("futex: Handle early deadlock return correctly"), moved the remove_waiter() out of __rt_mutex_start_proxy_lock() (where 'ret' was only ever 0 or < 0) into the wrapper. • Jun 24, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: md: wake raid456 reshape waiters before suspend During raid456 reshape, direct IO across tCVE-2026-53123 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67Medium 5.5

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: md: wake raid456 reshape waiters before suspend During raid456 reshape, direct IO across the reshape position can sleep in raid5_make_request() waiting for reshape progress while still holding an active_io reference. If userspace then freezes reshape and writes md/suspend_lo or md/suspend_hi, mddev_suspend() kills active_io and waits for all in-flight IO to drain. This can deadlock: the IO needs reshape progress to continue, but the reshape thread is already frozen, so the active_io reference is never dropped and suspend never completes. raid5_prepare_suspend() already wakes wait_for_reshape for dm-raid. Do the same for normal md suspend when reshape is already interrupted, so waiting raid456 IO can abort, drop its reference, and let suspend finish. The mdadm test tests/25raid456-reshape-deadlock reproduces the hang.

  • Jun 1, 2026AI Tensor Engine for ROCm (AITER) through 0.1.14 contains an unauthenticated remote code execution vulnerability in the MessageQueue.recv() function within shm_CVE-2026-49121 · Other software · ROCm · reported by VulnCheckCritical 9.2

AI Tensor Engine for ROCm (AITER) through 0.1.14 contains an unauthenticated remote code execution vulnerability in the MessageQueue.recv() function within shm_broadcast.py that allows unauthenticated remote attackers to execute arbitrary code by sending a malicious pickle payload to a ZMQ SUB socket with no authentication, HMAC, or format validation. Attackers who can reach the writer XPUB endpoint on the cluster network or supply a forged Handle with an attacker-controlled remote_subscribe_addr can deliver a crafted pickle payload that executes arbitrary code simultaneously as the inference worker process on every remote reader worker.

  • May 21, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: rtmutex: Use waiter::task instead of current in remove_waiter() remove_waiter() is used byCVE-2026-43499 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67High 7.8

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: rtmutex: Use waiter::task instead of current in remove_waiter() remove_waiter() is used by the slowlock paths, but it is also used for proxy-lock rollback in rt_mutex_start_proxy_lock() when invoked from futex_requeue(). In the latter case waiter::task is not current, but remove_waiter() operates on current for the dequeue operation. That results in several problems: 1) the rbtree dequeue happens without waiter::task::pi_lock being held 2) the waiter task's pi_blocked_on state is not cleared, which leaves a dangling pointer primed for UAF around. 3) rt_mutex_adjust_prio_chain() operates on the wrong top priority waiter task Use waiter::task instead of current in all related operations in remove_waiter() to cure those problems. • Jun 18, 2025In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: erofs: wake up all waiters after z_erofs_lzma_head ready When the user mounts the erofs seCVE-2022-50193 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67Medium 5.5

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: erofs: wake up all waiters after z_erofs_lzma_head ready When the user mounts the erofs second times, the decompression thread may hung. The problem happens due to a sequence of steps like the following: 1) Task A called z_erofs_load_lzma_config which obtain all of the node from the z_erofs_lzma_head. 2) At this time, task B called the z_erofs_lzma_decompress and wanted to get a node. But the z_erofs_lzma_head was empty, the Task B had to sleep. 3) Task A release nodes and push nodes into the z_erofs_lzma_head. But task B was still sleeping. • May 1, 2025In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ring-buffer: Check for NULL cpu_buffer in ring_buffer_wake_waiters() On some machines the CVE-2022-49889 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67Medium 5.5

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ring-buffer: Check for NULL cpu_buffer in ring_buffer_wake_waiters() On some machines the number of listed CPUs may be bigger than the actual CPUs that exist. The tracing subsystem allocates a per_cpu directory with access to the per CPU ring buffer via a cpuX file. But to save space, the ring buffer will only allocate buffers for online CPUs, even though the CPU array will be as big as the nr_cpu_ids. With the addition of waking waiters on the ring buffer when closing the file, the ring_buffer_wake_waiters() now needs to make sure that the buffer is allocated (with the irq_work allocated with it) before trying to wake waiters, as it will cause a NULL pointer dereference. While debugging this, I added a NULL check for the buffer itself (which is OK to do), and also NULL pointer checks against buffer->buffers (which is not fine, and will WARN) as well as making sure the CPU number passed in is within the nr_cpu_ids (which is also not fine if it isn't).
