Oct 28, 2026MIME::Parser versions before 5.521 for Perl allow memory exhaustion via indented error messages from a truncated, deeply nested message.CVE-2026-116267 · Other software · reported by 9b29abf9-4ab0-4765-b253-1875cd9b441e
MIME::Parser versions before 5.521 for Perl allow memory exhaustion via indented error messages from a truncated, deeply nested message. Each stored parser diagnostic is indented by three spaces per nesting level. When a message nested N levels deep ends without its closing boundaries, every level logs an error at its own depth, so the stored diagnostics grow with the square of N. The defaults place no limit on nesting depth.

Oct 28, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: cifs: don't update i_size in cifs_do_truncate without a cached handle If find_writable_filCVE-2026-99137 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: cifs: don't update i_size in cifs_do_truncate without a cached handle If find_writable_file() returns null, cifs_file_flush will return 0 without issuing set_file_size, and the outer 'if (!rc)' block will set i_size to 0 before telling the server to truncate. If the cifs_open() then fails, the inode will have size 0, while the server file is unchanged. Move the netfs_resize_file() and cifs_setsize() into the 'if (cfile)', so they only run after a successful set_file_size. In the no-handle else branch, evict stale pages with truncate_inode_pages before the O_TRUNC open to dispose of old cache pages, and let the open response set the i_size.

Oct 28, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: bridge: mcast: don't truncate the port group walk on teardown __br_multicast_disable_CVE-2026-99117 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: bridge: mcast: don't truncate the port group walk on teardown __br_multicast_disable_port_ctx() and br_multicast_del_port() walk port->mglist with hlist_for_each_entry_safe(). However, br_multicast_find_del_pg() can also delete other entries from the same list through br_multicast_fwd_src_remove() or __fwd_del_star_excl(). If such an entry is the iterator's saved next node, hlist_del_init() clears its ->next and terminates the walk early. The reproducer triggers this in both teardown walks, leaving port groups in the bridge mdb with a dangling ->key.port after del_nbp() frees the port: BUG: KASAN: slab-use-after-free in __mdb_fill_info+0x1191/0x1320 __mdb_fill_info+0x1191/0x1320 br_mdb_dump+0x594/0xe40 rtnl_mdb_dump+0x1cf/0x5d0 Use hlist_del_init_rcu() to unlink the group while preserving ->next. br_multicast_del_pg() and the teardown walks run under br->multicast_lock. The GC worker must acquire the same lock before detaching the group for destruction, so the node remains alive while the walk uses the preserved pointer. Preserving ->next means a walk can now reach a group that an earlier iter

Oct 28, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: smb: client: fix data corruption with concurrent writes and O_TRUNC cifs_do_truncate() fluCVE-2026-99111 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: smb: client: fix data corruption with concurrent writes and O_TRUNC cifs_do_truncate() flushes dirty pages with filemap_write_and_wait() and truncates the file on the server, but in the old code both operations ran without holding i_rwsem or invalidate_lock. A concurrent buffered write via netfs_perform_write() -- which only needs i_rwsem shared -- could dirty new pages after the flush but before the local truncation, and those pages would be silently discarded by cifs_setsize() -> truncate_pagecache(). Fix by acquiring inode_lock (exclusive i_rwsem) and filemap_invalidate_lock at the top of cifs_do_truncate(), so the entire flush-truncate-resize sequence is atomic with respect to: - buffered writes (blocked by exclusive i_rwsem, since netfs_start_io_write takes i_rwsem shared), - read page faults (blocked by exclusive invalidate_lock, since filemap_fault takes it shared), - writeback collection (blocked by netfs_wb_begin/netfs_wb_end around the server truncate and local resize, since netfs_writepages also acquires the wb lock).

Oct 23, 2026A flaw in Node.js DNS resolution allows hostnames containing a NUL byte to be silently truncated by the dns.resolve*() functions and dns.reverse().CVE-2026-105482 · Other software · nodejs · reported by support@hackerone.comHigh 7.4
A flaw in Node.js DNS resolution allows hostnames containing a NUL byte to be silently truncated by the dns.resolve*() functions and dns.reverse(). This is an incomplete fix of CVE-2026-48930, which only covered dns.lookup() and the net/tls host options. Because the name is passed to c-ares as a C string, resolving attacker.example\0.trusted.example queries attacker.example and returns its records without any error. Applications that validate a hostname, for example against a domain allowlist, and then resolve it with dns.resolve*() can act on records for a different name than the one they validated. This vulnerability affects Node.js 26.x, 24.x, and 22.x.

Oct 23, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: flow_dissector: avoid u16 truncation of skb->len when computing thoff __skb_flow_dissect()CVE-2026-98955 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: flow_dissector: avoid u16 truncation of skb->len when computing thoff __skb_flow_dissect() computes key_control->thoff using: key_control->thoff = min_t(u16, nhoff, skb ? skb->len : hlen); min_t(u16, ...) casts both arguments to u16 before comparing them. Whenever skb->len (or hlen) modulo 65536 is smaller than nhoff, the truncated length wins and thoff is set to a bogus small value, even when the dissection succeeded. For example, an IPv4/TCP frame with skb->len == 65540 and nhoff == 34 gets thoff == 4, so callers such as skb_probe_transport_header() point the transport header inside the Ethernet header. Such skbs are not exotic: - At the time of commit d0c081b49137 ("flow_dissector: properly cap thoff field"), AF_PACKET with PACKET_VNET_HDR could already build GSO skbs larger than 64KB (MTU checks are skipped for GSO, and alloc_skb_with_frags() accepted up to MAX_SKB_FRAGS (17) order-0 pages on top of the linear part). - BIG TCP now makes skbs larger than 64KB common. - The following patch makes tun_get_user() dissect IFF_TAP frames before eth_type_trans() pulls the Ethernet header, so a GSO fram

Oct 23, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: flow_dissector: avoid u16 truncation of hlen in bpf_flow_dissect() bpf_flow_dissect() saniCVE-2026-98950 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: flow_dissector: avoid u16 truncation of hlen in bpf_flow_dissect() bpf_flow_dissect() sanitizes the offsets returned by the BPF program with clamp_t(u16, ..., hlen). If hlen is bigger than 65535, the upper bound is truncated before the comparison. For instance, with hlen == 65536, both nhoff and thoff are forced to zero, even if the program returned sane values. This is the same class of bug as the one fixed in commit 99bda1ecbd56 ("flow_dissector: avoid u16 truncation of skb->len when computing thoff"). That fix does not cover the BPF path, because __skb_flow_dissect() returns early when a BPF flow dissector handles the packet. struct bpf_flow_keys stores nhoff and thoff as u16, so cap hlen to U16_MAX before clamping. Found by sashiko while reviewing the commit above.

Oct 21, 2026HAProxy 3.2 before 3.4.6 allows a remote unauthenticated attacker to cause a denial of service (worker-thread CPU exhaustion) via a truncated HTTP/2 PING frame.CVE-2026-110353 · Other software · HAProxy · reported by MITREHigh 7.5
HAProxy 3.2 before 3.4.6 allows a remote unauthenticated attacker to cause a denial of service (worker-thread CPU exhaustion) via a truncated HTTP/2 PING frame. h2c_handle_ping in src/mux_h2.c does not check for a short read, unlike the other H2 frame handlers. Because the incomplete frame cannot be processed, its data is never consumed, and the H2 multiplexer tasklet is repeatedly woken by that pending data without making progress. The CPU spins until timeout http-request closes the connection, and an attacker opening many such connections can sustain high CPU usage.

Oct 21, 2026The Apache Pulsar broker admin REST API provides a truncate operation for persistent topics (DELETE /admin/v2/persistent/{tenant}/{namespace}/{topic}/truncate).CVE-2026-105934 · Websites & servers · Apache Software Foundation · reported by security@apache.orgHigh 7.2
The Apache Pulsar broker admin REST API provides a truncate operation for persistent topics (DELETE /admin/v2/persistent/{tenant}/{namespace}/{topic}/truncate). Truncating a topic moves all subscription cursors of the topic to the end of the topic and deletes the topic's inactive ledgers. Truncating a non-partitioned topic, or a single partition addressed by its partition name, correctly requires the tenant admin role or the superuser role. When the operation is requested for the name of a partitioned topic, the broker does not apply this tenant admin check to the caller. Instead, it truncates each partition using the broker's own internal admin client, which authenticates with the broker's configured client credentials rather than the caller's identity. Each per-partition truncate request is still checked for the tenant admin role or the superuser role, but against the broker's internal identity instead of the caller. The partitions are therefore truncated only when the broker's configured client role is a superuser or an admin of the target tenant, which is the usual configuration when authorization is enabled. As a result, when that condition holds, an authenticated user who is

Oct 18, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nfc: llcp: drop truncated I/RR/RNR PDUs in nfc_llcp_recv_hdlc() nfc_llcp_recv_hdlc() readsCVE-2026-98482 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nfc: llcp: drop truncated I/RR/RNR PDUs in nfc_llcp_recv_hdlc() nfc_llcp_recv_hdlc() reads the sequence byte skb->data[2], via nfc_llcp_ns()/nfc_llcp_nr(), before any length check. The receive path only guarantees the two-byte LLCP header -- __nfc_llcp_recv() checks it with pskb_may_pull() and nfc_llcp_recv_agf() admits two-byte inner PDUs -- so a two-byte I, RR or RNR PDU reads one byte of uninitialised skb tailroom. The byte becomes N(R)/N(S); a peer can already set those with a well-formed PDU, so this is acting on uninitialised memory, not new peer control. Guard the read with pskb_may_pull(), as commit 95674f506c63 ("nfc: llcp: reject PDUs shorter than the LLCP header") did for the two-byte header, so the sequence byte is present and linear before it is read. RR and RNR PDUs are LLCP_HEADER_SIZE + LLCP_SEQUENCE_SIZE bytes and an I PDU is longer, so no valid frame is rejected; a truncated PDU is malformed, so return without a DM reply.

GNU Aspell contains an integer truncation vulnerability in the WritableDict::add() function in modules/speller/default/writable.cpp. When loading a personal wordlist, the word length is stored as a single byte, causing truncation for words whose length is a multiple of 256. This leads to heap corruption. An attacker can exploit this by convincing a user to run aspell with a crafted personal wordlist containing such a word, resulting in denial of service. This issue was fixed in commit 782ce94e4dc71eaec4ee1bd945eb3b9c47c5387d which will be released in version 0.60.8.3.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: stmmac: fix TSO header length truncation stmmac_tso_xmit() stores the protocol header length returned by stmmac_tso_header_size() in a u8. stmmac_tso_valid_packet() admits headers up to 1023 bytes, so a header longer than 255 bytes wraps modulo 256 (486 becomes 230, 256 becomes 0). A TCP over IPv6 socket carrying a few hundred bytes of sticky destination/hop-by-hop options makes skb_tcp_all_headers() exceed 255 while staying below the 1023-byte limit, so such an skb reaches stmmac_tso_xmit(). Widen proto_hdr_len to unsigned int, which is sufficient since the value is bounded by the hardware limit, and adjust the debug print specifier accordingly.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: mwifiex: prevent authentication frame length truncation mwifiex_cfg80211_authenticate() derives the authentication frame length from req->ie_len and req->auth_data_len, both of type size_t, but stores it in a u16. NL80211_ATTR_AUTH_DATA only has a minimum length policy. Since nla_len is a u16, a single attribute can carry up to 65531 bytes of payload, so the sum can exceed U16_MAX before it is assigned to pkt_len. The truncated pkt_len determines the skb frame area, while the copy length remains req->auth_data_len - 4, resulting in a heap buffer overflow. For example, with auth_data_len equal to 65510 and no IEs, the sum is 65546. It is truncated to 10 and then reduced by four to 6. The driver appends only six bytes to the skb with skb_put(), but then copies 65506 user-provided bytes into the authentication body. Reaching this path requires CAP_NET_ADMIN in the user namespace owning the network namespace, an up station netdev, and a suitable BSS/SAE authentication request. Compute the length in size_t, reject values that cannot be represented by the firmware's u16 frame length field, and only then assig

In Bouncy Castle for Java before 1.86, a truncated OpenPGP encrypted message was accepted with no error reported, and on the SEIPD version 1 path with no integrity check performed at all. RFC 9580 sec. 13.7 permits an implementation to release the cleartext of the fully authenticated chunks when streaming but requires it to indicate a clear error as soon as the truncation is detected, and to report suspect integrity when it discovers malleable ciphertext. The truncation was detected and then discarded: when a message is truncated but the length field of the enclosing packet is left unchanged, BCPGInputStream.PartialInputStream raises an EOFException for the missing ciphertext, and BCPGInputStream.nextPacketTag() reports an EOFException as a clean end of message, so the packet stream above it stopped as though no packets remained. On the AEAD path (SEIPD version 2 and the version 5 AEAD packet), when the literal data packet ended on an AEAD chunk boundary and the consumer read in increments smaller than one chunk, the look-ahead for the packet after the literal triggered the truncated chunk read, so BcAEADUtil and JceAEADUtil never reached the trailing message tag of sec. 5.13.2 tha

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: EDAC/device_sysfs: Use kstrtouint() for poll_msec to prevent truncation The poll_msec sysfs store file uses simple_strtoul() which accepts an unsigned long, but the target field (poll_msec) is unsigned int. On 64-bit systems, a value > UINT_MAX is silently truncated when stored. Fix the mismatch by using kstrtouint() instead. This rejects values larger than UINT_MAX at parse time, making truncation impossible. Also add a check for value < 1 to reject the 0-delay case, which would cause the poll work to spin without delay and consume 100% CPU.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: io_uring/net: don't overconsume buffers when using MSG_TRUNC When a recv/recvmsg is issued with MSG_TRUNC and the incoming packet is larger than the provided buffer, the net layer returns the full length of the packet rather than the number of bytes actually copied into the buffer. As a result, io_uring advances more of the provided buffer ring than was actually filled. Use the actual filled region size to consume the buffer, but still return the full size to preserve MSG_TRUNC semantics. Take care with multishot, because that seems to already truncate the consumption based on the available payload size. This was reported in https://github.com/axboe/liburing/issues/1619. Net::IDN::Punycode::PP versions before 2.590 for Perl decode a truncated label to a name containing a character it never encoded in decode_punycode. The pure-Perl decoder reads one digit at a time with four-argument substr and tests the result with defined to detect the end of the input. substr on an exhausted string returns the empty string rather than undef, so decoding continues past the end. The empty string converts to a digit value below the range, reducing the accumulator, and the decoder derives one extra code point and its position from it. The result is deterministic. The XS backend rejects the same label. Net::IDN::Punycode uses this backend wherever the XS does not build. The two backends disagree about what such a label means, so a sender can pick a label that one installation resolves to a name and another rejects.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: RDMA/srp: fix heap information leak on a truncated SRP_CRED_REQ srp_recv_done() passes wc->byte_len to srp_process_rsp(). It passes nothing to srp_process_cred_req() and srp_process_aer_req(), which read fixed-size fields from the receive buffer without checking that those fields were received. The buffer size is max_ti_iu_len, which comes from the login response and is not validated. A target that advertises 8 and then sends an 8-byte SRP_CRED_REQ makes the initiator read req->tag from beyond the end of the buffer. req->tag is copied into the SRP_CRED_RSP and sent back, so those bytes reach the target. SRP_AER_REQ behaves the same way and also reads req->lun. The leak is 8 bytes per response. max_ti_iu_len also decides which slab cache the buffer comes from. With 8 the buffer is a kmalloc-8 object and the read is entirely outside it: BUG: KASAN: slab-out-of-bounds in srp_recv_done+0x172b/0x1aa0 Read of size 8 at addr ffff888104714da8 by task kworker/u8:3/50 which belongs to the cache kmalloc-8 of size 8 The buggy address is located 0 bytes to the right of allocated 8-byte region [ffff888104714da0,

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ptp: netc: fix period truncation and potential divide-by-zero in PEROUT The max_period bound in net_timer_enable_perout() was computed as: max_period = (u64)NETC_TMR_DEFAULT_FIPER + integral_period; which exceeds U32_MAX when integral_period > 0 (e.g. 0x100000002 for the default 333333333 Hz clock). A period_ns that passes this check but exceeds U32_MAX is then silently truncated when stored into the u32 struct netc_pp::period field. A truncated value of zero can reach netc_timer_set_perout_alarm(), where the local u32 period variable would also be 0, causing a divide-by-zero in roundup_u64(delta, period) whenever the stime < min_time branch is taken (which always happens for a start time of {0, 0}). Additionally, netc_timer_enable_periodic_pulse() and netc_timer_enable_fiper() both compute: fiper = pp->period - integral_period; A zero pp->period results in an unsigned wraparound to 0xFFFFFFFD, mis-programming the FIPER hardware register. Fix all three issues by capping max_period at NETC_TMR_DEFAULT_FIPER (0xFFFFFFFF). This ensures that any period_ns passing the range check fits in a u32 without trunc

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: powerpc/kexec_file: Prevent kexec range truncation Sashiko AI review pointed out the following issue. The __merge_memory_ranges() function incorrectly handles overlapping memory ranges when merging them. Although sort_memory_ranges() sorts all ranges by their start address in ascending order beforehand, the merge logic remains defective in two ways: 1. It compares the current range's start against the previous element (i-1) instead of the running target index (idx) 2. It unconditionally overwrites 'ranges[idx].end' with 'ranges[i].end'. This logic flaw leads to critical memory truncation when a larger memory range completely subsumes subsequent smaller ranges. For example, consider a sorted input array with three ranges: Range A (idx=0): [0x1000 - 0x9000] Range B (i=1): [0x2000 - 0x5000] (completely inside Range A) Range C (i=2): [0x6000 - 0x8000] (completely inside Range A) 1. When i=1 (Range B): ranges[1].start (0x2000) <= ranges[0].end + 1 (0x9001) is TRUE. The code executes: ranges[0].end = ranges[1].end, which erroneously shrinks Range A's end from 0x9000 down to 0x5000. 2. When

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: scsi: qla2xxx: Clamp MSI-X derived queue counts to avoid truncation ha->msix_count is u16, but ha->max_req_queues, ha->max_rsp_queues and ha->max_qpairs are u8. Deriving the queue count as "ha->max_req_queues = ha->msix_count - 1" therefore truncates: a board (or a misconfigured/malicious hot-plugged device) advertising 257 MSI-X vectors yields msix_count - 1 == 256, which truncates to 0. An MSI-X count of 1 zeroes it as well, and in target mode the subsequent "ha->max_req_queues--" then underflows 0 to 255. When the count is 0, qla2x00_alloc_queues() calls kzalloc_objs(struct req_que *, 0), which returns ZERO_SIZE_PTR. That is not NULL, so the allocation check passes and the following "ha->req_q_map[0] = req" dereferences ZERO_SIZE_PTR, corrupting memory or crashing the kernel. Add qla_calc_queue_count() to clamp the derived value into [1, QLA_MAX_QUEUES - 1] so it always fits in u8 and is never zero, and use it at all three derivation sites (qla25xx_iospace_config(), qla83xx_iospace_config() and qla24xx_enable_msix()). Also guard the target-mode decrement so it cannot reintroduce a zero (which would in turn u

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nilfs2: fix slab-out-of-bounds in nilfs_direct_propagate after truncation Shuangpeng Bai reported that KASAN detected a slab-out-of-bounds error in nilfs_direct_propagate() during testing. Analysis revealed that after truncating a file, a node block immediately below the B-tree root was not deleted. Instead, it remained in the B-tree node cache in a dirty state. The log writer subsequently detected this block and incorrectly invoked nilfs_direct_propagate() on it, which is designed to handle only data blocks in direct mapping. B-tree nodes in the cache are managed by virtual block numbers, and their logical keys typically exceed the range expected by direct mapping. Consequently, processing such a node as a direct mapping entry triggers a slab-out-of-bounds access. The root cause is that when a B-tree mapping collapses into a direct mapping during truncation, an intermediate node block pointed to by the root node is left behind as garbage instead of being explicitly deleted. This resolves the issue by adding a nilfs_btree_discard() operation to delete the remaining intermediate node block during the convers

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: NFSD: check truncate permission under inode lock nfsd_setattr() checks whether a size update needs NFSD_MAY_TRUNC before it takes inode_lock(). The comparison uses the file size sampled by that unlocked read, but the actual ATTR_SIZE update is applied later under inode_lock() by notify_change(). This leaves a TOCTOU window for append-only files. If a client sends a SETATTR that does not shrink the file at the time of the unlocked sample, a concurrent append can extend the file before nfsd_setattr() takes inode_lock(). notify_change() then applies a real truncation without the NFSD_MAY_TRUNC check that rejects IS_APPEND(inode). The VFS truncate syscall paths perform their own append-only checks before calling notify_change(), so NFSD must make this decision against the locked size it is about to change. Split the write-count acquisition from the truncation permission check. Keep get_write_access() before the locked setattr work, then recheck whether the requested size is below i_size_read(inode) after inode_lock() has been acquired and before notify_change(ATTR_SIZE). This also avoids the plain unlocked inode->i

Instead, add cifs_invalidate_cache() after cifs_setsize(). cifs_invalidate_cache() calls fscache_invalidate(), which works without holding i_rwsem: it unconditionally increments inval_counter and sets FSCACHE_COOKIE_NO_DATA_TO_READ, ensuring that stale cached data is not served once the cookie is later activated by fscache_use_cookie(). Truncation to zero leaves no valid cached data, making invalidation the correct semantic here.
