  • Oct 14, 2026Description When NGINX Plus or NGINX Open Source is configured with ssl_session_cache shared:name:size without an explicit ssl_session_ticket_key file directCVE-2026-97629 · Network & remote access · F5 · reported by f5sirt@f5.comHigh 8.3

Description When NGINX Plus or NGINX Open Source is configured with ssl_session_cache shared:name:size without an explicit ssl_session_ticket_key file directives to automatically rotate SSL session ticket keys, a remote unauthenticated attacker is able to forge client SSL sessions in a non-deterministic manner that is beyond the attacker's control. An attacker could leverage this vulnerability to bypass verification of client certificates. Impact This vulnerability can lead to the exposure of resources or functionality to unintended actors, possibly providing attackers with access to sensitive information. There is no control plane exposure; this is a data plane issue only. Note: Software versions which have reached End of Technical Support (EoTS) are not evaluated.

  • Oct 14, 2026NGINX Plus and NGINX Open Source have a vulnerability in the ngx_http_core_module module.CVE-2026-97205 · Network & remote access · F5 · reported by f5sirt@f5.comCritical 9.2

NGINX Plus and NGINX Open Source have a vulnerability in the ngx_http_core_module module. When asynchronous file I/O (AIO) is enabled in certain configurations, processing a Server Side Includes (SSI) page containing “include virtual” commands may trigger a Use-After-Free (UAF) in the NGINX worker process. This may cause memory corruption or a worker process crash. Additionally, attackers can execute code on systems with Address Space Layout Randomization (ASLR) disabled or when the attacker can bypass ASLR. Impact: This vulnerability may allow remote attackers to cause a denial-of-service (DoS) on the NGINX system, corrupt its memory, or possibly trigger code execution. There is no control plane exposure; this is a data plane issue only. Note: Software versions which have reached End of Technical Support (EoTS) are not evaluated.

  • Oct 14, 2026A vulnerability exists in NGINX Plus and NGINX Open Source when a map directive uses regex matching and the root directive or access log format references the mCVE-2026-93479 · Network & remote access · F5 · reported by f5sirt@f5.comCritical 9.2

A vulnerability exists in NGINX Plus and NGINX Open Source when a map directive uses regex matching and the root directive or access log format references the map's regex capture variables before referencing the map output variable. Alternatively, the same result could be achieved by using a non-cacheable variable in a string expression under certain conditions. An unauthenticated attacker along with conditions beyond their control can exploit this vulnerability by sending crafted HTTP requests. • Oct 14, 2026Description NGINX Gateway Fabric has a vulnerability when it renders the spec.basic.realm (and spec.jwt.realm) field of a namespaced AuthenticationFilter verbaCVE-2026-91184 · Network & remote access · F5 · reported by f5sirt@f5.comHigh 8.7

Description NGINX Gateway Fabric has a vulnerability when it renders the spec.basic.realm (and spec.jwt.realm) field of a namespaced AuthenticationFilter verbatim, unescaped and unvalidated, into the shared data-plane nginx.conf as auth_basic "<realm>";. A namespaced authenticated attacker that configures AuthenticationFilter CRD to an HTTPRoute/GRPCRoute on a shared Gateway can craft a realm value that closes the quoted directive and the enclosing location {} block and injects arbitrary NGINX directives into that Gateway's data-plane config.  Impact A remote authenticated attacker can send crafted requests to configure NGINX Gateway Fabric AuthenticationFilter CRD and may be able to read every co-located tenant's mounted secrets, SSRF via proxy_pass, reading the pod ServiceAccount token, or hijacking other tenants' routes. There is no data plane exposure; this is a control plane issue only. Description NGINX JavaScript (njs) has a vulnerability where the njs XML module exposes entity-backed XML attributes inconsistently with libxml2 canonicalization. In both the built-in njs and QuickJS backends during the canonicalization process, the $attr$Name getter may return undefined for an explicitly present attribute containing an internal entity reference. The $attrs getter may return a value derived only from the first attribute child. This may allow an unauthenticated attacker that invests significant effort in obtaining a genuinely signed document to skip validation while signature verification succeeds. An nginx-saml deployment is a confirmed affected consumer when run with the built-in njs backend. Impact In affected signed-XML consumers, an unauthenticated attacker can cause security-relevant attributes to appear absent or truncated while signature verification succeeds. In nginx-saml, this can bypass expiry, Destination, and request-correlation checks, enabling replay or acceptance of a response outside its intended context. It does not permit signature or identity forgery, or a direct availability impact. There is no control plane exposure; this is a data plane issu

  • Oct 12, 2026Nginx UI is a web user interface for the Nginx web server.CVE-2026-84312 · Other software · 0xJacky · reported by GitHubHigh 7.1

Nginx UI is a web user interface for the Nginx web server. Prior to 2.4.1, GetCasdoorUri uses the configured Casdoor application name as a constant OAuth state value and CasdoorCallback does not compare the submitted state with a value bound to the initiating browser session. An unauthenticated attacker can cause a victim's browser to complete an attacker-controlled Casdoor authorization flow, and the callback can mint a Nginx UI session for the identity returned by that authorization code. This issue is fixed in version 2.4.1.

  • Oct 12, 2026Nginx UI is a web user interface for the Nginx web server.CVE-2026-84360 · Other software · 0xJacky · reported by GitHubHigh 8.1

Nginx UI is a web user interface for the Nginx web server. Prior to 2.4.1, the HTTP configuration mutation routes require RequireSecureSession, but /mcp and /mcp_message require only ordinary authentication before exposing nginx_config_add and nginx_config_modify. An OTP-enabled user with a normal JWT but no valid X-Secure-Session-ID can therefore create or modify Nginx configuration and trigger reload behavior through MCP, bypassing the intended step-up control. Nginx UI is a web user interface for the Nginx web server. Prior to 2.4.1, GenerateShortToken creates standalone short-token records without a long Token value, but DeleteUserTokens invalidates cached entries only when the long Token field is nonempty. A revoked short token can therefore remain in the short_token cache and authenticate again if the associated account is re-enabled before the cache entry expires because GetTokenUserByShortToken reads the surviving entry, restoring access to HTTP or WebSocket routes that accept short-token authentication. This issue is fixed in version 2.4.1.

  • Oct 12, 2026Nginx UI is a web user interface for the Nginx web server.CVE-2026-84320 · Other software · 0xJacky · reported by GitHubMedium 6.3

Nginx UI is a web user interface for the Nginx web server. Prior to 2.4.3, Nginx UI validates an automatic backup's storage_path, but AutoBackup.GetName returns a user-controlled name without rejecting path separators or parent-directory components, and downstream filename formatting embeds that result in the final archive filename. An authenticated user who can create or modify an automatic backup can cause filepath.Join to resolve the generated archive path outside the validated storage directory, allowing backup archives to be written with the Nginx UI process privileges. For encrypted configuration backups, the adjacent encryption key file can also be written outside the validated directory. This issue is fixed in version 2.4.3.

Nginx UI is a web user interface for the Nginx web server. Prior to 2.4.1, the regular HTTP configuration API rejects restricted Nginx directives such as load_module, js_import, and js_content. However, the MCP configuration interface allows a secondary authenticated user to write and apply equivalent restricted configuration content. This allows the user to load ngx_http_js_module.so, import attacker-controlled JavaScript, reload Nginx, and execute NJS in the Nginx worker context. This issue is fixed in version 2.4.1.

  • Oct 12, 2026Nginx UI is a web user interface for the Nginx web server.CVE-2026-84318 · Other software · 0xJacky · reported by GitHubHigh 8.8

Nginx UI is a web user interface for the Nginx web server. From 2.0.0-rc.6 until 2.4.1, the MCP tool nginx_config_add writes nginx configuration files to disk and triggers an nginx reload without calling config.ValidateConfigFile. The identical flow in the REST API (POST /api/configs) does call that function and correctly rejects dangerous directives. An authenticated attacker can exploit this gap to write config files containing any blocked directive (perl, js_import, load_module, user root, etc.), bypassing nginx-ui's entire security layer. On a server with the nginx Perl, njs, or Lua module loaded, this is post-authentication Remote Code Execution. This issue is fixed in version 2.4.1.

  • Oct 12, 2026Nginx UI is a web user interface for the Nginx web server.CVE-2026-84317 · Other software · 0xJacky · reported by GitHubHigh 8.8

Nginx UI is a web user interface for the Nginx web server. Prior to 2.4.1, internal/config/validation.go (ValidateConfigFile) is a security control that blocks dangerous nginx directives — js_*, perl_*, load_module of the njs/perl modules, and user root. It is enforced on three of the four config-write paths: api/config/add.go, api/config/modify.go, and mcp/config/config_modify.go. The fourth path — the MCP tool nginx_config_add (mcp/config/config_add.go) — does NOT call it: it writes the caller-supplied content straight to disk and reloads nginx. An authenticated MCP caller (or an MCP agent induced via prompt injection) can therefore inject exactly the directives the control is meant to block, leading to nginx code execution on deployments where the njs/perl module is available (e.g. the official Docker image). This issue is fixed in version 2.4.1.

  • Oct 12, 2026Nginx UI is a web user interface for the Nginx web server.CVE-2026-84316 · Other software · 0xJacky · reported by GitHubHigh 8.8

Nginx UI is a web user interface for the Nginx web server. Prior to 2.4.1, config.ValidateConfigDirectives splits configuration by newline and checks only the first directive token on each line even though Nginx permits multiple semicolon-separated directives on one line. An authenticated caller can place a benign directive first and a restricted load_module, js_import, perl, or user root directive later on the same line, or can use an unrestricted include directive to load restricted content. These mechanisms bypass validation on REST, nginx_config_modify, site, and stream write paths; when an executable module is available, the injected configuration can execute code in the Nginx worker context. This issue is fixed in version 2.4.1.

Nginx UI is a web user interface for the Nginx web server. Prior to 2.4.1, Nginx UI does not apply RequireSecureSession to multiple authenticated mutation routes even though OTP-enabled users are expected to present a fresh X-Secure-Session-ID for sensitive actions. Nginx UI is a web user interface for the Nginx web server. Prior to 2.4.1, POST /api/otp_enroll and POST /api/finish_passkey_register are registered outside RequireSecureSession and accept a normal authenticated session without verifying the current password. An attacker with a stolen JWT can bind an attacker-controlled TOTP secret when the victim has not already enabled TOTP, or can register an attacker-controlled passkey because that path has no equivalent existing-enrollment guard. ngx_cache_purge before 3.0.4 can allow file deletion via a symlink attack in certain situations where nginx and a served application (e.g., WordPress) run under the same user account. The attacker must be able to create a symlink inside the cache path. Version 3.0.4 fixes this for the case of a symlink created at an arbitrary earlier time, but does not resolve an applicable TOCTOU race condition. From 2.0.0 until 2.5.0, the api/cluster router exposes node and namespace mutation operations and cluster-wide Nginx reload or restart operations with AuthRequired but without RequireSecureSession. An authenticated OTP-enabled user possessing a stolen or persisted JWT can therefore perform node CRUD, read or replace node credentials, change namespaces, and invoke nodes/reload_nginx or nodes/restart_nginx without a fresh second-factor step-up. Nginx UI is a web user interface for the Nginx web server. From 2.0.0 until 2.5.0, ordinary authenticated users can access /api/nodes and /api/nodes/:id, whose responses serialize the node token field. The same token is accepted as X-Node-Secret by AuthRequired and maps the request to initUser, allowing the user to impersonate a trusted node against a reachable cluster member. This cross-node authentication bypass can expose sensitive management operations, including configuration synchronization and service restart. This issue is fixed in version 2.5.0.

Nginx UI is a web user interface for the Nginx web server. From 2.0.0 until 2.5.0, internal/backup/restore.go extracts inner archives before applying the restore_nginx and restore_nginx_ui flags and permits symlinks targeting the live Nginx configuration path. An authenticated user who can create and restore backups can craft a valid backup that places a symlink in the staging tree and then writes a regular file through that link, even when both restore flags are false. This can persistently inject configuration or cause denial of service when the modified files are later consumed. This issue is fixed in version 2.5.0.

Nginx UI is a web user interface for the Nginx web server. From 2.0.0 until 2.5.0, AuthRequired accepts a browser-managed token cookie as an API credential after the front end stores the JWT in that cookie. Because management endpoints do not universally require a CSRF token or perform Origin or Referer validation, a remote attacker can induce a logged-in administrator's browser to submit authenticated cross-site state-changing requests, including POST /api/configs. The attack requires an administrator account without OTP/Passkey or a target endpoint that does not require secure-session proof. The attacker cannot read the cross-origin response but can modify Nginx configuration, trigger reloads, or invoke other management operations reachable with the victim's session. This issue is fixed in version 2.5.0.

Nginx UI is a web user interface for the Nginx web server. From 2.0.0 until 2.5.0, POST /api/login checks EnabledOTP but does not require a WebAuthn assertion when EnabledPasskey is true and no TOTP secret is configured. Nginx UI is a web user interface for the Nginx web server. From 2.0.0 until 2.5.0, Nginx UI accepts the Node.Secret master credential through the node_secret query parameter in HTTP and WebSocket authentication paths instead of requiring the X-Node-Secret header. The credential can consequently appear in access logs, proxy logs, browser history, Referer headers, configuration URLs, and deployment environment data. A party that obtains the secret can bypass normal password, JWT, session, and second-factor checks and obtain persistent administrative API access, including access to configuration and secret material. This issue is fixed in version 2.5.0.

Nginx UI is a web user interface for the Nginx web server. From 2.3.8 until 2.5.0, an authenticated administrator with an active secure session can submit attacker-controlled portable backup key material and a matching manifest to POST /api/restore. The restore flow trusts the supplied key, decrypts attacker-controlled contents, and replaces the live app.ini, including protected nginx command settings such as TestConfigCmd. Triggering POST /api/nginx/test then executes the restored command in the Nginx UI runtime context, affecting confidentiality, integrity, and availability. This issue is fixed in version 2.5.0.

Nginx UI is a web user interface for the Nginx web server. From 2.5.0 until 2.6.0, the node-signature authentication path performs temporary file staging of an attacker-controlled request body and synchronizes it before validating the body digest and cryptographic signature. Nginx UI is a web user interface for the Nginx web server. From 2.2.0 until 2.6.0, the bundled reverse proxy does not preserve the external client identity used by Gin because the backend has no trusted proxy configuration. Management requests can be attributed to loopback and pass the IP allowlist loopback exception, although valid credentials are still required. Failed logins from different external clients are also attributed to the same loopback address, allowing an unauthenticated attacker to trigger a shared temporary login ban for password or OTP authentication without invalidating existing sessions. This issue is fixed in version 2.6.0.

Malcolm's front nginx reverse proxy defines a "Dashboards → Arkime shortcut" location using a case-insensitive regex matcher but a case-sensitive rewrite. A request whose path segment is not exact-lowercase (for example /IDDASH2ARK/...) enters the location (the matcher fires) but evades the rewrite (no redirect is issued), so nginx falls through to the location's proxy_pass to the Arkime backend. That location is the one proxied location in the shipped config that does not include the per-location authentication file, so the request reaches Arkime unauthenticated. The same location also forwards a client-supplied X-Forwarded-User header un-overwritten, and Arkime is configured to trust X-Forwarded-User as the authenticated username — so an unauthenticated network caller can reach the Arkime backend while supplying a forged, auto-provisioned identity.

Malcolm's nginx Lua role-based access control (RBAC) layer decides whether an authenticated user may reach a role-restricted path (e.g. /htadmin, /auth, /admin_login, /arkime/api/esadmin, NetBox, upload endpoints) by pattern-matching the raw, percent-encoded request URI. Nginx itself, however, selects which location block actually serves the request using the percent-decoded, normalized URI. Because the RBAC check never percent-decodes its input, an authenticated low-privilege user can request an admin-only path using percent-encoding (e.g. /%68tadmin.php) and have nginx route it to the restricted location while the Lua RBAC gate evaluating the un-decoded raw string finds no matching restriction and grants access.

nginx ignition is a user interface for the nginx web server. In versions 2.29.0 through 2.40.0, the gin i18n middleware in nginx-ignition's API server runs in front of every HTTP request and calls `golang.org/x/text/language.ParseAcceptLanguage` on the raw `Accept-Language` header without imposing any size or shape filter. The underlying parser has quadratic-time behaviour on long lists of malformed language tags. The CVE-2022-32149 guard that golang.org/x/text added in v0.3.8 caps the number of `-` characters in the input at 1000, but it does not cap `_` characters even though the parser's internal scanner aliases `_` to `-` before parsing. A single unauthenticated GET request with an `Accept-Language` header built out of `_` separators burns about 2.4 seconds of server CPU on the host running nginx-ignition; ten concurrent attackers saturate a ten-core box for the duration of the attack while consuming ~10 MiB/s of upstream bandwidth. Version 2.40.1 fixes this issue.

nginx ignition is a user interface for the nginx web server. Prior to version 2.41.1, `POST /api/users/onboarding/finish` is registered as anonymous (unauthenticated) and creates a user with full ReadWrite admin permissions. Because the handler uses a check-then-act (TOCTOU) pattern between the "onboarding already completed?" check and the user-creation write, with no atomic guard, a remote unauthenticated attacker who can reach an instance in its pre-onboarding state can create an administrator account for themselves — and concurrent requests can create multiple admin accounts in a single race. Version 2.41.1 patches the issue.

  • Sep 15, 2026Vouch Proxy is an SSO and OAuth/OIDC login solution for Nginx using the auth_request module.CVE-2026-55149 · Other software · vouch · reported by GitHubHigh 7.5

Vouch Proxy is an SSO and OAuth/OIDC login solution for Nginx using the auth_request module. Prior to 0.48.0, Cookie in pkg/cookie/cookie.go parses the total part count from an attacker-controlled multipart cookie name and passes the value to make([]string, numParts) without checking that the value is positive or reasonably bounded. Requests to /validate and /_external-auth-:id reach JWTCacheHandler in pkg/jwtmanager/jwtcache.go, FindJWT in pkg/jwtmanager/jwtmanager.go, and the vulnerable cookie reassembly before JWT validation, so no account or valid session is required. A cookie name such as VouchCookie_1of10000000000 causes an attempted slice allocation of roughly 160 GB and a fatal Go runtime out-of-memory condition, allowing one request to crash the authentication proxy and repeated requests to sustain unavailability. NGINX Plus and NGINX Open Source have a vulnerability in the ngx_http_v3_module module. When using HTTP/3 with OpenSSL versions <= OpenSSL 3.5.0 under certain configurations, a limited heap buffer overflow could happen while processing a TLS handshake. This can happen in a non-deterministic manner that is beyond the attacker's control. This may cause a heap buffer overflow in the NGINX worker process leading to a restart and/or limited data corruption. Impact: This vulnerability may allow remote attackers to cause a denial-of-service (DoS) on the NGINX system or limited data corruption.
