Oct 28, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: fill in FileSysIdentifier in FS_POSIX_INFORMATION smb2_get_info_filesystem() reportCVE-2026-99115 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: fill in FileSysIdentifier in FS_POSIX_INFORMATION smb2_get_info_filesystem() reports 56 bytes for FS_POSIX_INFORMATION, that is the whole of FILE_SYSTEM_POSIX_INFO, but never assigns FileSysIdentifier. Those eight bytes go to the client as they are found in the response buffer. The buffer is zeroed on allocation, so a standalone request leaks nothing. A compound request can leak: the offset of the next response is advanced by the length pinned for the previous one, so a reply that was written into the buffer and then dropped in favour of the short error response of smb2_set_err_rsp() stays there, and the next reply is laid over it with only the header cleared. Report the file system id statfs() returned, which is what the field is for. FileSysIdentifier is __le64 and f_fsid is a pair of ints, so assemble the value first, val[0] as the low half, and convert it on the way out.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: initialize FileSystemControlFlags in FS_CONTROL_INFORMATION smb2_get_info_filesystem() reports 48 bytes for FS_CONTROL_INFORMATION, that is the whole of struct smb2_fs_control_info, but never assigns FileSystemControlFlags. Those four bytes go to the client as they are found in the response buffer. The buffer is zeroed on allocation, so a standalone request leaks nothing. A compound request can leak: the offset of the next response is advanced by the length pinned for the previous one, so a reply that was written into the buffer and then dropped in favour of the short error response of smb2_set_err_rsp() stays there, and the next reply is laid over it with only the header cleared. ksmbd does not implement quota tracking, so report no control flags.

Oct 28, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: zero the FS_OBJECT_ID_INFORMATION buffer before filling it in smb2_get_info_filesysCVE-2026-99113 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: zero the FS_OBJECT_ID_INFORMATION buffer before filling it in smb2_get_info_filesystem() reports 64 bytes for FS_OBJECT_ID_INFORMATION, that is the whole of struct object_id_info, but writes only 46 of them: - objid[] is 16 bytes, and when the volume UUID is not available only sizeof(stfs.f_fsid) (8) bytes are copied into it; - extended_info.version_string[] is STRING_LENGTH (28) bytes, and only strlen("1.1.0") (5) bytes are copied into it. The response buffer is zeroed on allocation (kvzalloc() in smb2_allocate_rsp_buf()), so for a standalone request the remaining 31 bytes are zero. In a compound request they need not be. The offset of the next response is advanced by the length pinned for the previous one, so if a preceding command wrote its reply into the buffer and then failed, smb2_set_err_rsp() pins only the short error response and the next reply lands inside the area that has already been written. Only the header is cleared there: memset((char *)rsp_hdr, 0, sizeof(struct smb2_hdr) + 2); The client then receives up to 31 bytes of a response it was not meant to see, including one that

Oct 23, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: fix heap out-of-bounds write in krb5_authenticate() In krb5_authenticate(), out_lenCVE-2026-99083 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67High 8.8
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: fix heap out-of-bounds write in krb5_authenticate() In krb5_authenticate(), out_len is calculated to determine available headroom in response_buf for the incoming Kerberos AP-REP token. However, when SMB2_SESSION_SETUP is processed as a non-first element of a compounded SMB2 request, the calculation omits work->next_smb2_rsp_hdr_off. This causes out_len to overstate remaining buffer headroom by the cumulative size of prior responses in the compound chain. Consequently, the length check in ksmbd_krb5_authenticate() (*out_len <= resp->spnego_blob_len) passes erroneously, allowing memcpy() to write the AP-REP blob past the end of response_buf into adjacent kernel heap memory. Fix this by subtracting work->next_smb2_rsp_hdr_off when computing out_len, ensuring it accurately reflects physical remaining buffer space.

Oct 23, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: fix lease break and ack state handling Do not skip valid lease states containing WRCVE-2026-98901 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: fix lease break and ack state handling Do not skip valid lease states containing WRITE_CACHING when breaking level-II/read leases for writes and truncates. Handle lease break acknowledgments according to the SMB2 rule that the acknowledged state must be a subset of the server's break target. Oct 23, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: don't hold ci->m_lock while waiting for a lease break ack When a cifs.ko client cacCVE-2026-98897 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: don't hold ci->m_lock while waiting for a lease break ack When a cifs.ko client caches a read-handle (RH) lease via deferred close and a conflicting open arrives, ksmbd breaks the lease and waits for the acknowledgment in wait_for_break_ack() for up to OPLOCK_WAIT_TIME (35s). __smb_break_all_levII_oplock() runs that wait while holding ci->m_lock for read. cifs.ko reacts to a handle-lease break by closing the deferred handle rather than sending a lease break acknowledgment. That close path (close_id_del_oplock() -> opinfo_del()) takes ci->m_lock for write and is exactly what would wake the waiter, but it blocks on the read lock held by the waiting thread. The break is then resolved only by the 35s timeout, so xfstests generic/001 takes ~78s with leases enabled versus ~4s with oplocks only. Collect the target opinfos (each pinned with a reference) while holding ci->m_lock, then break them after releasing it, matching how smb_grant_oplock() already breaks a conflicting lease using only a reference. The reference keeps the opinfo (and its conn and lease) alive across the unlocked window, and a close racing

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: remove stale channels from all sessions on teardown ksmbd_sessions_deregister() removes a connection's channels from other sessions' channel lists only while conn->binding is still set: if (conn->binding) { hash_for_each_safe(sessions_table, ...) ksmbd_chann_del(conn, sess); } conn->binding is a transient flag: it is cleared once a binding SESSION_SETUP completes, and also by a subsequent non-binding SESSION_SETUP on the same connection (a reauthentication on a bound channel, or a new SessionId==0 setup). A connection that has bound a channel into another session's ksmbd_chann_list and then clears conn->binding leaves that channel behind when it disconnects: the channel, whose chann->conn points at the now freed struct ksmbd_conn, stays on the owner session's list. When the owning connection later tears down, the second loop dereferences the stale channel: xa_for_each(&sess->ksmbd_chann_list, chann_id, chann) if (chann->conn != conn) ksmbd_conn_set_exiting(chann->conn); /* freed */ which is a use-after-free write into the freed ksmbd_conn (the same stale channel is also walked by show_p

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: follow SMB2 session expiration semantics ksmbd_session_register() destroys valid sessions after ten seconds of inactivity whenever a client starts another SessionSetup exchange. This confuses Session.IdleTime with Session.ExpirationTime. Windows can create additional authenticated sessions on an existing connection, so deleting the older session invalidates its tree connects and makes mapped drives fail with STATUS_NETWORK_NAME_DELETED. The session expiration rules require the server to change a valid session to expired only after its credential expiration time passes. A valid or expired session otherwise keeps its connection from being scavenged. Connections that have not negotiated a dialect, have no sessions, or have only InProgress sessions are disconnected after an implementation-specific timeout. Use the Windows-compatible 45 second value and run the expiration check periodically for both TCP and SMB Direct. Keep zero as an infinite credential expiration time, and count each Valid-to-Expired transition. Set expired sessions to InProgress when they reauthenticate. If authentication fails, remove the

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: safely drain sessions during logoff SMB3 multichannel allows requests for one session to run on multiple connections. Wait for all channels bound to a session before freeing shared session objects. A deferred byte-range lock remains counted as a running request and only wakes when its file closes. Wake blocked locks during the drain without unpublishing or modifying their file objects. Synchronous CANCEL requests must invoke their cancellation callback to wake pending operations, while CHANGE_NOTIFY completion remains specific to the asynchronous path. Serialize session teardown with channel registration and previous-session cleanup, and use atomic work-state transitions so LOGOFF, CANCEL, and connection teardown invoke cancellation callbacks only once.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: fix maximum allowed access checks The DACL permission check looks for an ACE matching the current user and falls back to the Everyone ACE. It does not consider an Authenticated Users ACE, even though an authenticated session is a member of that well-known group. As a result, opening a file whose access is granted through S-1-5-11 can incorrectly fail with STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED. Treat an Authenticated Users ACE as a fallback entry alongside Everyone. The maximal access calculation also combines access masks from every ACE, regardless of whether its SID applies to the current user. This can grant rights belonging to an unrelated principal. Process only ACEs applying to the user, Everyone, or Authenticated Users, and accumulate allowed and denied masks in ACL order. Preserve explicitly requested access bits so they are validated against the resulting maximal mask. When ACCESS_SYSTEM_SECURITY is denied, report STATUS_PRIVILEGE_NOT_HELD instead of the generic STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED. Access to the system ACL requires a security privilege that ksmbd does not grant. For regular files, include FILE_EXECUTE in maxi

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: Do not skip lock checks for single-byte ranges check_lock_range() uses inclusive ranges. Its callers pass the end offset as start + length - 1, so start == end represents a valid single-byte range rather than an empty range. The start == end shortcut therefore skips mandatory byte-range lock checks for one-byte reads, writes, copychunk operations and one-byte truncate ranges. A conflicting lock covering that byte is not checked and the operation is allowed to proceed. Remove the shortcut. The truncate size == inode->i_size case is already handled by only calling check_lock_range() when the new size differs from the current file size.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: fix slab-out-of-bounds read in ksmbd_alloc_user() ksmbd_alloc_user() copies resp->hash_sz bytes out of the mountd IPC login response with user->passkey_sz = resp->hash_sz; user->passkey = kmalloc(resp->hash_sz, KSMBD_DEFAULT_GFP); if (user->passkey) memcpy(user->passkey, resp->hash, resp->hash_sz); resp->hash_sz is a __u16 supplied by the response, but resp->hash[] is only KSMBD_REQ_MAX_HASH_SZ bytes. A malformed or malicious login response can set hash_sz well beyond that (up to 65535), so the memcpy() reads past the end of the response object. ipc_validate_msg() does not bound hash_sz, so reject any response whose hash_sz exceeds the on-stack hash[] buffer before allocating and copying. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: validate ipc response length before dereferencing its fields ipc_validate_msg() computes the expected message size by reading length fields out of the response buffer supplied by the userspace ksmbd daemon (payload_sz, session_key_len, ngroups, ...). Those fields are read before the buffer is verified to be large enough to contain the struct they belong to, so a short response makes the read land past the end of the allocation. handle_response() sizes entry->response purely from the netlink attribute length (nla_len()) and only guards the leading handle read, so the daemon can install a response as small as the kmalloc-8 object seen below. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: serialize oplock close with pending break ownership close may abort an in-flight oplock break while another breaker already holds an opinfo reference. Releasing pending_break wakes that waiter, but without serializing the close transition with bit acquisition it can become a new break owner through the test_and_set_bit() fast path. It can then overwrite OPLOCK_CLOSING with OPLOCK_ACK_WAIT and continue a break for a dying opinfo. Make OPLOCK_CLOSING terminal once the opinfo is removed from the inode list. Serialize that transition, pending_break acquisition, and OPLOCK_ACK_WAIT setup with an opinfo state lock. A breaker which loses the race releases its ownership and returns -ENOENT. Explicitly wake pending_break waiters during close so they can observe the terminal state. Also prevent ACK and timeout paths from replacing OPLOCK_CLOSING with OPLOCK_STATE_NONE.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: smb/server: abort initialization when proc setup fails ksmbd_server_init() calls ksmbd_proc_init() before creating the remaining proc entries and server subsystems. ksmbd_proc_init() tears down partial state on a procfs or percpu_counter allocation failure, but returns void, so ksmbd_server_init() continues as if the counters were usable. Once userspace starts the server, server_ctrl_handle_init() calls ksmbd_proc_reset(), which reaches percpu_counter_set() with a NULL per-CPU counters pointer on SMP systems. The later ksmbd_proc_create() calls also receive a NULL parent and may create entries in the /proc root; ksmbd_proc_cleanup() cannot remove those entries because ksmbd_proc_fs is NULL.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: defer publishing granted locks to prevent UAF/double-free race In smb2_lock(), mid-batch granted locks are published to connection-wide (conn->lock_list) and file-wide (fp->lock_list) lists immediately upon vfs_lock_file() success, while also remaining tracked on the stack-local rollback_list. If a subsequent element in the same SMB2_LOCK request array fails validation or execution, the thread jumps to out: and walks rollback_list to undo previously granted locks. However, because the granted lock was already published to conn->lock_list, a concurrent UNLOCK request on the same connection can find the lock object and kfree() it before the rollback loop executes. When the granting thread subsequently walks rollback_list, it dereferences and frees the already-freed ksmbd_lock structure, resulting in a Use-After-Free and Double-Free (on both ksmbd_lock and struct file_lock). Fix this by deferring the publication of granted locks to conn->lock_list and fp->lock_list until after the entire array of lock elements has been processed without error. Mid-batch grants remain tracked exclusively on the request-loca

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: safely discard unregistered deferred locks When vfs_lock_file() defers a lock, smb2_lock() puts its ksmbd_lock on rollback_list before allocating and registering the asynchronous work. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: detach blocked lock requests before freeing A file_lock retained by ksmbd for byte-range lock bookkeeping can still be part of the VFS blocked-request graph. In particular, the VFS can chain a new waiter below an already blocked request through flc_blocked_requests. The ksmbd_file reference count does not cover that graph. Both __ksmbd_close_fd() and the cross-request unlock path free these retained file_lock objects directly. If a dependent waiter is still attached, locks_release_private() hits BUG_ON(!list_empty(&flc->flc_blocked_requests)). The same lifetime mismatch can leave a freed ksmbd_lock reachable through its request-local llist. Detach the file_lock from the blocked-request graph before freeing it in the close, cross-request unlock, and rollback paths. locks_delete_block() also wakes requests chained below the object. Remove llist when a completed lock is published so a globally visible ksmbd_lock no longer points into the submitting worker's stack.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: bound smb_check_perm_dacl() ACE walks by DACL size smb_check_perm_dacl() validates that the DACL fits inside the NT security descriptor, but then bounds its two ACE walks by the remaining NTSD length (acl_size) rather than the DACL's declared size (pdacl_size). When pdacl->size is smaller than the trailing NTSD buffer, bytes after the declared DACL boundary - still inside the stored security descriptor - are parsed as ACEs during access checks. A crafted DACL can place an access-granting ACE beyond pdacl->size, and the current code accepts it during SMB2_CREATE access validation, while parse_dacl() and smb_inherit_dacl() stop at pdacl_size. Bound both ACE walks by pdacl_size to match the DACL boundary semantics used elsewhere in the server. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: only rebind the reopened file's own oplock on durable reconnect ksmbd_reopen_durable_fd() walks the inode's m_op_list and rebinds every detached oplock to the reconnecting session: list_for_each_entry_rcu(op, &ci->m_op_list, op_entry, lockdep_is_held(&ci->m_lock)) { if (op->conn) continue; op->conn = ksmbd_conn_get(fp->conn); op->sess = work->sess; } The only key is op->conn == NULL, which every detached durable handle on that inode matches, not just the one owned by fp. When two sessions hold durable handles on the same file and both disconnect, reconnecting one of them adopts the other session's oplock: op->sess is overwritten with the reconnecting session without taking a reference on it, while op->conn pins the connection. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: fix use-after-free in oplock break notification smb2_oplock_break_noti() reads opinfo->conn without any lock and dereferences it after two allocations which may sleep. When the durable handle owning the oplock is disconnected, session_fd_check() clears opinfo->conn and drops its conn reference under ci->m_lock, and the last ksmbd_conn_put() frees the connection. A break triggered by another connection that races with the teardown can then resurrect the freed connection: ksmbd_conn_get() is a plain atomic_inc, and the queued break work later dereferences the stale conn via ksmbd_conn_write(), a use-after-free reachable by any authenticated client holding a durable batch oplock. Thread the caller's inode into the notification path instead of taking a new reference on it. Every caller of oplock_break() already holds a live ksmbd_file (or an explicit ksmbd_inode_lookup_lock() reference, in the parent lease break paths) on the inode that owns the break target's oplock list, so ci cannot be freed during the call, and its lock can be taken without dereferencing opinfo->o_fp, which a concurrent close may free.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: fix use-after-free in __close_file_table_ids() A ksmbd_file can remain alive after logical close while another session holds a temporary reference obtained through ksmbd_lookup_fd_inode(). ksmbd_close_fd() currently marks the file closed and drops the idr-owned reference, but leaves the pointer published in the closing session's idr until the final reference is dropped. If the foreign holder performs the final ksmbd_fd_put(), __put_fd_final() supplies the foreign session's file table to __ksmbd_close_fd(). The object is then freed without being removed from its owner's idr, and the owner session later dereferences the stale pointer during file-table teardown. Remove the volatile id from the owner's idr while ksmbd_close_fd() still holds that table's lock, and clear volatile_id before dropping the idr-owned reference. A later foreign final put then only performs physical destruction and cannot remove the object from the wrong table.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: fix use-after-free of conn->preauth_info in concurrent SMB2 NEGOTIATE conn->preauth_info is shared connection state (struct preauth_integrity_info, kmalloc-96) that is allocated and freed by the SMB2 NEGOTIATE handler and read by the response send path. smb2_handle_negotiate() allocates conn->preauth_info, and on a deassemble_neg_contexts() failure kfrees it and sets it to NULL. Both the allocation and the free/NULL happen under ksmbd_conn_lock(conn) (the connection srv_mutex), which is held across the whole handler body. The response send path smb3_preauth_hash_rsp(), called from the send: block of __handle_ksmbd_work(), reads conn->preauth_info and dereferences conn->preauth_info->Preauth_HashValue (via ksmbd_gen_preauth_integrity_hash()) without taking conn_lock. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: reject undersized DACLs before parsing ACEs parse_dacl() limits the attacker-controlled ACE count by comparing it with the number of minimal ACEs that fit in the DACL size. The DACL size field is 16 bits, but the expression subtracts sizeof(struct smb_acl). Because sizeof() is unsigned, a DACL size smaller than the ACL header underflows to a large size_t. A malicious client can reach this with: SMB2_SET_INFO (InfoType=SMB2_O_INFO_SECURITY) -> smb2_set_info_sec() -> set_info_sec() -> parse_sec_desc() -> parse_dacl() -> init_acl_state(..., 0xffff) -> init_acl_state(..., 0xffff) -> kmalloc_objs(..., 0xffff) Thus a malformed security descriptor can make num_aces pass the guard and drive large temporary ACL state and pointer-array allocations. Reject DACLs smaller than struct smb_acl before doing the subtraction, so the ACE count check cannot be bypassed by the underflow.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: fix use-after-free of fp->owner.name in durable handle owner check Two concurrent SMB2 durable reconnects (DH2C/DHnC) on the same persistent_id race the fp->owner.name compare-read in ksmbd_vfs_compare_durable_owner() against the kfree() in ksmbd_reopen_durable_fd()'s reopen-success path. fp->owner.name is a standalone kstrdup() buffer whose lifetime is independent of the fp refcount, and the two sites share no lock: the compare reads the buffer while the reopen frees it, so the strcmp() can dereference freed memory. Commit 7ce4fc40018d ("ksmbd: fix durable reconnect double-bind race in ksmbd_reopen_durable_fd") made the fp->conn claim atomic under global_ft.lock (closing the owner.name double-free and the ksmbd_file write-UAF), but the compare-read versus reopen-free pair was left unserialized. Aug 15, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: use opener credentials for FSCTL mutations SET_SPARSE, SET_ZERO_DATA and SET_COMPRECVE-2026-68457 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67Critical 9.1
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: use opener credentials for FSCTL mutations SET_SPARSE, SET_ZERO_DATA and SET_COMPRESSION operate on an open SMB handle but call VFS xattr, fallocate or fileattr helpers with the current ksmbd worker credentials. Those helpers can revalidate inode permissions, ownership and LSM policy independently of the SMB handle access mask. Run each operation with the credentials captured in the target file when the handle was opened. Keep credential handling local to these single-file FSCTLs rather than applying session credentials to the complete IOCTL handler, which also contains handle-less and multi-handle operations.

Aug 11, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: validate minimum PDU size for transform requests The receive path applies the minimCVE-2026-68431 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67Critical 9.1
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: validate minimum PDU size for transform requests The receive path applies the minimum SMB2 PDU size check only when ProtocolId is SMB2_PROTO_NUMBER. A packet carrying SMB2_TRANSFORM_PROTO_NUM bypasses the check even when the negotiated dialect does not provide transform handling. On an SMB 2.1 connection, a short transform packet therefore reaches init_smb2_rsp_hdr(), which interprets the request as a full SMB2 header and reads beyond the request allocation. The copied fields can then be returned to the unauthenticated client. Compression transforms are converted to ordinary SMB2 messages before protocol validation. After that conversion, validate ordinary SMB2 requests against SMB2_MIN_SUPPORTED_PDU_SIZE and require encryption transform requests to contain both a transform header and an SMB2 header. This rejects truncated requests before work allocation.

Aug 10, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: pin conn during async oplock break notification smb2_oplock_break_noti() and smb2_lCVE-2026-68381 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67Critical 9.8
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: pin conn during async oplock break notification smb2_oplock_break_noti() and smb2_lease_break_noti() store a ksmbd_conn pointer in an async ksmbd_work and then queue that work on ksmbd-io. The work only increments conn->r_count, which prevents teardown from passing the pending-request wait after the increment, but it does not pin the struct ksmbd_conn object. If connection teardown races with an oplock break notification, the last conn reference can be dropped before the queued worker finishes. The worker then uses the freed conn in ksmbd_conn_write() and ksmbd_conn_r_count_dec(). Take a real conn reference when publishing the conn pointer to the async work item, and drop it after the notification work has decremented r_count. Apply the same lifetime rule to lease break notification, which uses the same work->conn pattern.

Aug 10, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: defer destroy_previous_session() until after NTLM authentication In ntlm_authenticaCVE-2026-68130 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: defer destroy_previous_session() until after NTLM authentication In ntlm_authenticate(), destroy_previous_session() is called using a user pointer resolved from the client-supplied NTLM blob username field before the NTLMv2 response is validated. An authenticated attacker can set the NTLM blob username to match a victim account and set PreviousSessionId to the victim's session ID; destroy_previous_session() destroys the victim's session while ksmbd_decode_ntlmssp_auth_blob() subsequently rejects the request with -EPERM. Move destroy_previous_session() and the prev_id assignment to after ksmbd_decode_ntlmssp_auth_blob() returns success and use sess->user rather than the pre-authentication lookup result. This matches the ordering already used by krb5_authenticate(), where destroy_previous_session() is called only after ksmbd_krb5_authenticate() returns success.

Aug 10, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: validate num_subauth when copying ACE in set_ntacl_dacl set_ntacl_dacl() copies eacCVE-2026-68100 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67High 8.1
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: validate num_subauth when copying ACE in set_ntacl_dacl set_ntacl_dacl() copies each ACE from the attacker-controlled stored security descriptor verbatim into the response DACL without checking sid.num_subauth. The ACE bytes (including an unchecked num_subauth) originate from an authenticated SMB2_SET_INFO(SecInfo=DACL) that is stored raw via ksmbd_vfs_set_sd_xattr(); parse_dacl() rejects a bad ACE with `break` rather than an error, so parse_sec_desc() still returns success and the malformed SD reaches the xattr intact. On a subsequent SMB2_QUERY_INFO(SecInfo=DACL) for an inode carrying a POSIX access ACL, build_sec_desc() -> set_ntacl_dacl() -> set_posix_acl_entries_dacl() walks the copied ACEs and reads ntace->sid.sub_auth[ntace->sid.num_subauth - 1] with num_subauth taken straight from the stored SD. Since sub_auth[] is fixed at SID_MAX_SUB_AUTHORITIES (15), a crafted num_subauth (e.g. 255) drives an out-of-bounds heap read of ~1 KB with an offset fully controlled by an authenticated client. The sibling functions already gate this field: parse_dacl() -- num_subauth == 0 || > SID_MAX_SUB_AUT

Aug 10, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: restore DACL size on check_add_overflow() to avoid malformed ACL check_add_overflowCVE-2026-68099 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: restore DACL size on check_add_overflow() to avoid malformed ACL check_add_overflow() unconditionally writes the truncated sum into *d even on overflow, per its contract in include/linux/overflow.h. The four check_add_overflow() guards in set_posix_acl_entries_dacl() and set_ntacl_dacl() break out of the ACE-building loops on overflow, but the truncated *size is then consumed downstream at the end of set_ntacl_dacl(): pndacl->size = cpu_to_le16(le16_to_cpu(pndacl->size) + size); This produces an on-wire NT ACL whose pndacl->size under-reports the bytes actually written by the preceding fill_ace_for_sid()/memcpy() calls, yielding a malformed ACL that can trigger out-of-bounds reads when re-parsed by clients or ksmbd itself. Restore *size to its pre-addition value on each overflow branch (via `*size -= ace_sz` / `size -= nt_ace_size`) so that after the break, *size once again holds the cumulative size of the successfully-written ACEs. The committed ACL is then truncated-but-self-consistent rather than malformed. The ksmbd DACL builders are the only check_add_overflow() sites found where an overflow p
