  • Oct 28, 2026The GPIO syscall handlers in drivers/gpio/gpio_handlers.c did not validate the pin argument supplied by a user-mode caller.CVE-2026-82961 · Other software · zephyrproject · reported by vulnerabilities@zephyrproject.orgHigh 7.8

The GPIO syscall handlers in drivers/gpio/gpio_handlers.c did not validate the pin argument supplied by a user-mode caller. z_vrfy_gpio_pin_configure(), z_vrfy_gpio_pin_get_config() and z_vrfy_gpio_pin_interrupt_configure() verified only the device object (K_SYSCALL_DRIVER_GPIO() / K_SYSCALL_OBJ()) and then passed the caller-supplied gpio_pin_t straight through to z_impl_gpio_pin_*() and on to the driver. The only pin check in include/zephyr/drivers/gpio.h was __ASSERT(gpio_port_pin_is_supported(cfg->port_pin_mask, pin), ...), which compiles to nothing unless CONFIG_ASSERT is enabled, so in a production build no check existed at all. GPIO drivers use pin as a shift count and as an array index on the documented assumption that it is a pin the controller supports. On STM32, for example, gpio_stm32_pin_interrupt_configure() turns pin into an EXTI line and stm32_gpio_intc_set_irq_callback() writes data->cb[line_num].cb and data->cb[line_num].data into a NUM_EXTI_LINES-entry array (default 16) in drivers/interrupt_controller/intc_gpio_stm32.c, guarded only by a compiled-out __ASSERT_NO_MSG(); the same function then reads exti_irq_table[line_num] and calls irq_enable() on the result. A BSON encoding component of the MongoDB Java Driver does not verify that an externally supplied raw document's self-declared length agrees with the extent of the byte range it is given before that range is copied into an outgoing database command. An application that wraps untrusted raw bytes in such a document and uses it as part of a command can therefore emit a structurally inconsistent message, causing the database to interpret attacker-supplied trailing content as additional fields of the surrounding command. No authentication to the driver or database is required beyond the ability to influence those bytes through the victim application, and no user interaction is needed. The result is unintended modification of the command actually executed, which can alter the data read or written under the application's credentials.

  • Oct 28, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: Drivers: hv: Don't reset VMBus connection state on error/exit paths In two places, currentCVE-2026-99216 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: Drivers: hv: Don't reset VMBus connection state on error/exit paths In two places, current code forces vmbus_connection.conn_state to DISCONNECTED prior to calling vmbus_disconnect(). But vmbus_disconnect() calls vmbus_initiate_unload(), which unloads the VMBus connection only if the conn_state is CONNECTED. Consequently, the connection remains and the Hyper-V host might continue to send messages or post VMBus interrupts. The problem was introduced in commit 74347a99e73ae ("x86/Hyper-V: Unload vmbus channel in hv panic callback"), in that vmbus_initiate_unload() started checking the current connection state before doing the unload. This commit removed some occurrences where conn_state was forced to DISCONNECTED, but these two remained, apparently due to an oversight at the time. Fix this by not forcing conn_state to DISCONNECTED during VMBus exit, or if a failure occurs when establishing the connection in the first place. Whatever value conn_state has at the time is then read by vmbus_initiate_unload() to determine if there is a connection to be unloaded.

The Espressif AES driver drivers/crypto/crypto_esp32_aes.c advertises a multi-session cipher API — it hands out up to CONFIG_ESP32_CRYPTO_AES_SESSIONS_MAX (default 4) independent sessions, each carrying its own key and direction. The AES peripheral, however, has a single chip-global set of key and mode registers, and aes_begin_session() programmed them exactly once, at session start, outside the aes_lock mutex that serialises the transforms. The per-operation handlers aes_ecb_op(), aes_cbc_op() and aes_ctr_op() then ran aes_hal_transform_block() against whatever key and direction the registers happened to hold. As a result, once a second session is opened with a different key, every subsequent operation on the first session silently uses the second session's key and direction, and no error is reported. Because the key programming happened outside the lock, the correct usage pattern of "each thread does begin, then op, then free on its own session" also races: a second thread's cipher_begin_session() landing between the first thread's begin and its operation makes that operation run under the second thread's key. The RTIO streaming completion callback adxl345_process_fifo_samples_cb() in drivers/sensor/adi/adxl345/adxl345_stream.c clamps the amount of FIFO data it will report (read_len = MIN(fifo_bytes, buf_avail)) to the space actually returned by rtio_sqe_rx_buf(), but then queues one 6-byte bus read per hardware FIFO entry at consecutive offsets from read_buf, bounded by the device-reported entry count rather than by the clamp. When the allocated buffer is smaller than a full batch, the driver writes up to 186 bytes past the end of the allocation; a companion defect left data->fifo_total_bytes un-reset at batch start, so an aborted or errored chain could leave a stale write offset that pushes the next batch's writes out of bounds as well. A short buffer is an expected, first-class outcome of the RTIO allocator: rtio_block_pool_alloc() walks the requested size down one block at a time until a contiguous run is available, and the driver only demands sizeof(struct adxl345_fifo_data) + 6 bytes as its minimum. Any streaming configuration whose mempool block granularity is smaller than a full FIFO batch (204 bytes) — for example the sensor shell's RTIO_DEFINE_WITH_MEMPOOL(sensor_read_rtio, 8,

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: brcmfmac: fix P2P device removal race in brcmf_detach() When the driver is removed while the user space process that created the P2P device (e.g. wpa_supplicant) is still exiting, the P2P device interface is removed twice and the kernel crashes. The two paths are: - wpa_supplicant, on exit, sends NL80211_CMD_DEL_INTERFACE for the P2P device. nl80211_del_interface() holds RTNL and the wiphy mutex and calls brcmf_p2p_del_vif(), which disables discovery and waits up to 1.5 s for BRCMF_E_IF_DEL. Then it calls brcmf_remove_interface(), which unregisters the wdev and frees the vif and the ifp. - brcmf_detach() sets the bus down, so BRCMF_E_IF_DEL never arrives, and calls brcmf_remove_interface(ifp, false) for the same ifp. brcmf_p2p_ifp_removed() reads ifp->vif and then blocks on rtnl_lock(). When brcmf_p2p_del_vif() releases RTNL, it calls cfg80211_unregister_wdev() on the wdev that was already unregistered and freed. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: mt76: mt7603: initialize global station WCID mt7603 uses a driver-private global station WCID for frames that have neither a station nor a vif, including frames injected through a monitor interface. Unlike the core global WCID initialized by mt76_register_device(), this WCID is published without ever being passed to mt76_wcid_init(). Since commit 0335c034e726 ("wifi: mt76: fix race condition related to checking tx queue fill status"), mt76_tx() queues every such frame on the WCID's tx_pending or tx_offchannel queue and links its tx_list. The first injected frame therefore reaches __skb_queue_tail() with an uninitialized sk_buff_head and dereferences a NULL prev pointer. Initialize the WCID before publishing it. The fix was tested on an MT7603 PCIe device. Three wildcard probe requests were injected through a monitor interface. The hardware queue head and tail advanced from 0 to 3 and a second radio captured the third request over the air. No oops or reset occurred. After restoring AP mode, a 150 MB transfer also completed without a reset.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mmc: mtk-sd: Cancel request timeout work on remove The driver queues req_timeout while a request is active. msdc_request_done() uses cancel_delayed_work(), which does not wait for a timeout callback that has already started. The timeout callback calls mmc_request_done(), which wakes the request waiter, and then continues to use host->dev_comp and check the SDIO IRQ. During unbind, msdc_drv_remove() can return and the managed mmc_host can be freed before the callback finishes. KASAN reported use-after-free accesses in msdc_request_done() and msdc_recheck_sdio_irq() in each of three unbind tests. The same tests completed without a kernel diagnostic after this change. Call cancel_delayed_work_sync() after mmc_remove_host() has stopped new requests and before the driver releases the host resources.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: mt76: account non-AQL frames per peer rather than per link The driver increments wcid->non_aql_packets when a frame goes to the hardware queue. The completion path decrements the counter again. For an MLO peer, the hardware reports the completion on the link that it used for the transmission. This link can differ from the link that the driver queued the frame on. In that case, the increment and the decrement go to different link wcids, and the count drifts upwards until it blocks the station. Keep the count on the wcid of the primary link, like the other peer-wide state.

A numeric-type conversion flaw in the BSON handling library of the MongoDB C# Driver allows an out-of-range binary subtype value supplied through untrusted textual input to bypass the library's binary-element integrity checks. When such a value is later encoded, it is narrowed to a smaller wire representation, producing binary elements that misdeclare their type or length. An unauthenticated party able to supply text parsed by an affected application can cause it to emit and persist malformed binary data, which subsequent readers either reject with an error or silently interpret as shorter than the data that was validated.

A client-side encryption schema construction component in the MongoDB C# Driver places caller-supplied field identifiers into a position that is interpreted as a pattern expression, without normalizing or validating them. As a result, an application that designates certain fields for client-side field-level encryption may have the protection silently fail to apply, so data intended to be encrypted is stored and returned in cleartext; conversely, the rule may apply more broadly than intended. No user action is required to cause the condition, and any party with ordinary read access to the stored data — without possession of the encryption keys — can observe the unprotected values.

A flaw in the client-side encryption support of the MongoDB .NET/C# driver can cause data designated for client-side field-level encryption to be written without encryption. Under certain platform text-encoding configurations, an internal name conversion loses information, so the encryption layer fails to associate the operation with its configured encryption rules and the operation proceeds without an error being raised. An application user with the ability to write data through an affected application can therefore have sensitive fields persisted in plaintext, defeating the confidentiality guarantee that client-side encryption is intended to provide. The MongoDB C# Driver does not neutralize dot and dollar characters in dictionary keys, field names and array-filter identifiers used in LINQ queries before placing them into the field paths it sends to the server. An application user whose input reaches these positions can redirect a query or update to fields the application did not name, which can expose other users' documents and widen updates beyond the intended data. Certain values can also write malformed fields that leave stored documents unreadable by the application until they are repaired.

  • Oct 22, 2026A data-validation flaw exists in the BSON handling and binary serialization path of the MongoDB C# Driver.CVE-2026-114646 · Other software · MongoDB · reported by cna@mongodb.comMedium 6.9

A data-validation flaw exists in the BSON handling and binary serialization path of the MongoDB C# Driver. When an application constructs a raw or lazy BSON document object from externally supplied binary data, the driver does not verify that the size quantity declared inside that data matches the amount of data actually provided, and it copies the data onto the wire unchanged. An unauthenticated party who can supply binary content to such an application can thereby cause additional elements to be inserted into, or existing elements to be removed from, the database command the application issues, without needing any database credentials of their own. This can result in unauthorized modification of stored data and disclosure of data outside the intended scope of the application's request, bounded by the database privileges the application itself holds.

A 32-bit integer wraparound in the MongoDB C Driver's Windows-only Kerberos/SSPI authentication code can cause an undersized heap buffer to be allocated when an excessively long credential value is supplied in the client's connection configuration. A party able to control that client-side configuration, in conjunction with the affected authentication mechanism, can cause the driver to write outside the bounds of the allocated buffer. This may result in corruption of client process memory and denial of service of the client application. The issue affects only client builds compiled with the Windows-native authentication backend.

The MongoDB C# Driver's BSON library contains an uncontrolled resource consumption weakness in its deserialization handling of one BSON value type. An application that deserializes untrusted content with the library retains data derived from that content for the lifetime of the process, with no limit on how much accumulates. The Nuvoton NPCX eSPI driver parses Target-Attached-Flash (TAF) requests in espi_taf_parse() (drivers/espi/espi_npcx.c), taking the 12-bit length field directly out of the request header in the FLASHRXBUF FIFO. For write and RPMC OP1 requests it copied DIV_ROUND_UP(len, 4) words into struct espi_taf_pckt.src, a fixed 16-word (64-byte) member of a static structure, without ever comparing the length against that buffer or against the negotiated eSPI receive payload size (rx-plsize, 64 bytes on all in-tree NPCX/NPCK SoCs). Both the loop counter and the word count were uint8_t, so the copy ran up to 255 iterations. An eSPI controller that emits a flash request whose header claims a payload larger than the negotiated maximum therefore drives up to 239 32-bit stores past the end of the structure — roughly 956 bytes of out-of-bounds write into .bss — from the eSPI flash receive interrupt handler, while the source reads walk past the end of the 18-word FLASHRXBUF register array into neighbouring eSPI registers. The same unvalidated length was then passed on to flash_write() in espi_taf_npcx_flash_write() with the 64-byte src buffer as source, reading up to 4 KB of adjacent controller SRAM

The Infineon PSOC 6 BLESS HCI driver in drivers/bluetooth/hci/hci_infineon_psoc6_bless.c stored the outgoing HCI packet descriptor in a file-scope variable, static cy_stc_ble_hci_tx_packet_info_t hci_tx_pkt. psoc6_bless_send() cleared and populated that descriptor's packetType, dataLength and data fields before acquiring psoc6_bless_operation_sem, so the driver's serialising semaphore protected only the call into Cy_BLE_SoftHciSendAppPkt() and not the shared state that call reads. The Bluetooth host does not guarantee a single HCI sender. Most transmissions are funnelled through the cooperative TX-processor work queue, but bt_hci_cmd_send() deliberately bypasses bt_dev.cmd_tx_queue for BT_HCI_OP_HOST_NUM_COMPLETED_PACKETS and calls bt_send() directly from the caller's thread; that caller is bt_hci_host_num_completed_packets(), the acl_in_pool destroy callback, which runs on whichever thread drops the last reference to a received ACL buffer. CONFIG_BT_HCI_ACL_FLOW_CONTROL defaults to y on this driver's boards, and an application that returns -EINPROGRESS from its L2CAP recv callback and later calls bt_l2cap_chan_recv_complete() performs that unref from its own preemptible thread. The Broadcom AFBR-S50 time-of-flight sensor driver double-completes an RTIO submission when sensor data evaluation fails. In data_ready_work_handler() (drivers/sensor/broadcom/afbr_s50/afbr_s50.c), a non-STATUS_OK return from Argus_EvaluateData() calls handle_error_on_result(), which finalises the request with rtio_iodev_sqe_err(), but execution then fell through to the tail of the function and finalised the very same struct rtio_iodev_sqe a second time with rtio_iodev_sqe_ok(). Unlike the other error branches in the same function, this one did not return. Both completion helpers reach rtio_executor_done() in subsys/rtio/rtio_executor.c, which returns the submission to the pool via rtio_sqe_pool_free() and, for streaming (multishot) submissions, also releases the RX buffer with rtio_release_buffer(). The second completion therefore reads a freed rtio_iodev_sqe, pushes the same mpsc node onto the submission queue while it is already on the pool free list — splicing the two lists together — and re-submits the freed request so the next measurement is written through an already-released buffer. For one-shot submissions it emits a spurious success completion carrying stale userdata and

The device multiplexer pseudo-driver in drivers/misc/devmux/devmux.c exposes two system calls, devmux_select_get() and devmux_select_set(). When CONFIG_USERSPACE is enabled, their user-mode verifiers z_vrfy_devmux_select_get() and z_vrfy_devmux_select_set() forwarded directly to the kernel implementations without performing any kernel-object validation — no k_object_access_check() and no driver object check. Compounding this, DEVICE_DT_INST_DEFINE() registered devmux instances with a NULL driver API pointer, which causes scripts/build/gen_kobject_list.py to skip them entirely, so a devmux device had no struct k_object and no permission on it could be granted or withheld in the first place. Any thread running in user mode can reach the defect: device pointers such as DEVICE_DT_GET(DT_NODELABEL(devmux0)) are compile-time constants available to application code, and the syscall accepted them from a thread that had never been granted access to the device. The kernel implementations do validate the pointer against the static devmux instance table and bounds-check the selection index, so this is not a memory-safety issue; the failure is purely one of authorization. The user-mode verifier for the peci_transfer() system call, z_vrfy_peci_transfer() in drivers/peci/peci_handlers.c, checked only the device object permission and copied the caller-supplied struct peci_msg with k_usermode_from_copy(). That copy validates the outer structure only; the buf pointers and len values inside the embedded struct peci_buf members tx_buffer and rx_buffer remained fully caller-controlled and were passed unchecked to the driver. Every in-tree PECI driver dereferences those pointers in supervisor mode: peci_npcx_transfer() in drivers/peci/peci_npcx.c and peci_it8xxx2_transfer() in drivers/peci/peci_ite_it8xxx2.c copy hardware bytes into rx_buffer.buf[i] and read command bytes out of tx_buffer.buf[i], and peci_xec_read()/peci_xec_write() in drivers/peci/peci_mchp_xec.c do the same with no bound on rx_buffer.len at all. A user-mode thread that has been granted the PECI device object — the normal way an application exposes a device under CONFIG_USERSPACE — could therefore point rx_buffer.buf at kernel data structures and have the driver write hardware-supplied bytes there, or point tx_buffer.buf at kernel memory and have its contents pushed onto the PECI/eSPI out-

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: virt: vmgenid: set driver_data before registering notification handlers Both probe paths register their notification handler before assigning driver_data, which the handler dereferences. In the devicetree path, the notification IRQ can fire as soon as devm_request_irq() registers the handler: the interrupt may already be pending at probe time, for example when a VMM injects the generation-changed notification while restoring a guest from a snapshot that was taken before the driver had probed (Firecracker does exactly this on snapshot restore). The IRQ is also requested with IRQF_SHARED, so another device sharing the line can trigger the handler just as early. The handler then calls vmgenid_notify(), which dereferences the still-NULL driver_data and panics: Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual address 0000000000000010 CPU: 0 UID: 0 PID: 1 Comm: swapper/0 Not tainted 6.18.38+ #1 PREEMPT(none) Hardware name: linux,dummy-virt (DT) pc : vmgenid_notify.isra.0+0x24/0x8c lr : vmgenid_of_irq_handler+0x14/0x34 Call trace: vmgenid_notify.isra.0+0x24/0x8c (P) vmgenid_of_irq_handler+

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: USB: gadget: dummy-hcd: Fix wait for outstanding request completions The dummy-hcd driver emulates synchronize_irq() by waiting until its private callback_usage counter drops to 0 (with the private lock not held). This counter is incremented whenever a gadget driver callback occurs (which requires the private lock to be dropped), but not when a request completion handler is called. This is an oversight. Request completion is triggered by timer interrupts (emulating device IRQs in a real UDC), and the interrupt handlers are supposed to have completed when the synchronize_irq() emulation routine returns -- they aren't supposed to be in the middle of a completion callback. If this happens it can lead to a gadget driver's unbind routine running before all outstanding request completions have finished, maybe even allowing the gadget driver's module to be unloaded while a completion handler is still running. Fix the oversight by incrementing the callback_usage value across request completion callbacks.
