Oct 23, 2026Twisted is an event-based framework for internet applications, supporting Python 3.6+.CVE-2026-115774 · Other software · twisted · reported by GitHubMedium 4.9
Twisted is an event-based framework for internet applications, supporting Python 3.6+. Prior to 26.10.0rc1, twisted.mail.imap4.IMAP4Server reaches twisted.mail.imap4.parseNestedParens with a negative literal size in an authenticated SEARCH command after the client enters the selected mailbox state. The negative size moves the parser cursor below zero, and Python's negative indexing prevents the synchronous scanning loop from terminating. The loop freezes the single-threaded reactor, stopping other IMAP connections and any SMTP or POP3 services hosted in the same process until restart. This issue is fixed in version 26.10.0rc1.

Oct 23, 2026If an attacker can write to the filesystem of a container k8s cluster container, they can plant an exec credential plugin in /etc/kubernetes/admin.conf.CVE-2026-113951 · Computers, phones & browsers · Apple · reported by product-security@apple.comHigh 7.8
If an attacker can write to the filesystem of a container k8s cluster container, they can plant an exec credential plugin in /etc/kubernetes/admin.conf. kubectl will run that plugin as the macOS host user the next time someone pulls the cluster's kubeconfig onto the host with container k8s write-config or create and then runs kubectl against it — turning filesystem access inside an untrusted Linux container into arbitrary command execution on the host. This vulnerability is addressed in Container version 1.5.0.

Oct 23, 2026HTTP::Headers::ActionPack versions before 0.10 for Perl allow CPU exhaustion via Accept-Language ranges matched as regular expressions.CVE-2026-113877 · Other software · reported by 9b29abf9-4ab0-4765-b253-1875cd9b441eHigh 7.5
HTTP::Headers::ActionPack versions before 0.10 for Perl allow CPU exhaustion via Accept-Language ranges matched as regular expressions. _language_match interpolates each Accept-Language range into the pattern `/^$range\-/i` without escaping it, so regular expression syntax in the header reaches the regex engine. A 12-byte range such as `(a?|b?){26}z` backtracks for seconds, and each increment of the quantifier doubles the time. An invalid range such as `(` fails to compile. A remote attacker can exhaust CPU, or make choose_language die, in any application that passes an untrusted Accept-Language header to it.

Oct 23, 2026The Bluetooth HCI USB transport class of the new USB device stack, subsys/usb/device_next/class/bt_hci.c, copies every controller-to-host HCI packet into a USB CVE-2026-79982 · Other software · zephyrproject · reported by vulnerabilities@zephyrproject.orgHigh 8.8
The Bluetooth HCI USB transport class of the new USB device stack, subsys/usb/device_next/class/bt_hci.c, copies every controller-to-host HCI packet into a USB transfer buffer before enqueuing it on an endpoint. bt_hci_tx_sync_in() allocated that buffer from bt_hci_ep_pool, a fixed pool whose slots are only USBD_MAX_BULK_MPS bytes (64 on full-speed-only builds), and then performed net_buf_add_mem(buf, bt_buf->data, bt_buf->len) with no length check. HCI event and ACL buffers are sized by CONFIG_BT_BUF_EVT_RX_SIZE and CONFIG_BT_BUF_ACL_RX_SIZE and can be far larger, so the copy runs past the end of the 64-byte slot into the adjacent slots and into whatever follows the statically allocated pool. The device runs the local Bluetooth controller in raw HCI mode (CONFIG_BT_HCI_RAW), so the oversized packets originate over the air. With the HCI buffer sizes recommended for full-featured controllers, an unauthenticated attacker within Bluetooth range can supply the overflowing bytes: a connected peer that negotiates Data Length Extension can send ACL fragments up to CONFIG_BT_CTLR_DATA_LENGTH_MAX bytes, and an attacker that merely broadcasts extended advertising data reaches the same path

Oct 23, 2026The DNS stub resolver in subsys/net/lib/dns/resolve.c binds one UDP socket per configured server when the resolver context is initialised (dns_resolve_init_lockCVE-2026-79981 · Other software · zephyrproject · reported by vulnerabilities@zephyrproject.orgMedium 6.5
The DNS stub resolver in subsys/net/lib/dns/resolve.c binds one UDP socket per configured server when the resolver context is initialised (dns_resolve_init_locked() -> register_dispatcher() -> dns_dispatcher_register()), with the local port left at 0 so the stack picks an ephemeral port exactly once. dns_write() then sends every subsequent query from that same socket without re-binding, so the source port is constant for the lifetime of the resolver context while only the 16-bit transaction identifier (ctx->queries[i].id, drawn with sys_rand16_get()) varies per query. RFC 5452 section 9.2 requires both to vary; with a fixed port, an off-path attacker has to guess only the identifier. The stable port is cheap to learn. Any single observed query reveals it permanently, and it can also be found by probing the ephemeral UDP range: subsys/net/ip/connection.c answers unmatched unicast UDP with an ICMP port-unreachable, so the resolver's socket is the one port in that range that stays silent. Acceptance of a reply is decided solely by get_slot_by_id() matching the transaction identifier and a CRC-16 of the queried name — the reply's source address is never checked (dispatcher_cb() does A

Oct 23, 2026The DHCPv4 client in subsys/net/lib/dhcpv4/dhcpv4.c maintained its transaction identifier (iface->config.dhcpv4.xid) as a counter rather than as a per-transactiCVE-2026-79980 · Other software · zephyrproject · reported by vulnerabilities@zephyrproject.orgMedium 5.6
The DHCPv4 client in subsys/net/lib/dhcpv4/dhcpv4.c maintained its transaction identifier (iface->config.dhcpv4.xid) as a counter rather than as a per-transaction random value. It was seeded once with sys_rand32_get() in dhcpv4_start_internal(), incremented by one in dhcpv4_send_discover() and dhcpv4_send_decline(), and never changed by dhcpv4_send_request() — so every RENEWING and REBINDING exchange reused, unchanged, the identifier that had already appeared on the wire in the broadcast DHCPDISCOVER at boot, and where the identifier did move it moved predictably by one. RFC 2131 4.1 requires a single identifier per transaction, chosen so that clients are unlikely to collide. This identifier is the client's only unpredictable reply-validation token. net_dhcpv4_input() accepts a BOOTP reply on op, a matching xid, and a matching chaddr (the interface MAC, which is public); the UDP callback is registered with a wildcard remote address and port, and no server-identifier or source-address check is applied. An attacker who learns one identifier — for example any host on the same segment that sees the broadcast DHCPDISCOVER, or a DHCP server or relay on a network the device previously jo

Oct 23, 2026The arm64 MMU backend invalidates a single virtual address from the TLB with invalidate_tlb_page() in arch/arm64/core/mmu.c, which issued TLBI VAE1{IS} with an CVE-2026-79979 · Other software · zephyrproject · reported by vulnerabilities@zephyrproject.orgHigh 7.8
The arm64 MMU backend invalidates a single virtual address from the TLB with invalidate_tlb_page() in arch/arm64/core/mmu.c, which issued TLBI VAE1{IS} with an operand of virt >> 12. That operand encodes the ASID in bits [63:48], so the invalidation only ever matched ASID 0 (the kernel page tables) and global entries. Memory domains, however, are allocated ASIDs starting at 1 in arch_mem_domain_init(), and every domain-private leaf created by private_map() is mapped with MT_NG, i.e. non-global. A domain's cached translation therefore survived the invalidation. All callers of invalidate_tlb_page() are demand-paging paths. When the eviction algorithm reclaims a frame, page_frame_prepare_locked() in kernel/mmu.c calls arch_mem_page_out(), which marks the kernel leaf invalid, propagates the invalid descriptor into every domain via sync_domains(), and then flushes only ASID 0. do_page_fault() immediately reuses the very same page frame for the incoming mapping through arch_mem_page_in(). A user thread that had already touched the evicted page — a k_mem_partition added with arch_mem_domain_partition_add(), or its own stack mapped by map_thread_stack() — retains a valid EL0 read/write tr

The RTIO streaming completion callback adxl345_process_fifo_samples_cb() in drivers/sensor/adi/adxl345/adxl345_stream.c clamps the amount of FIFO data it will report (read_len = MIN(fifo_bytes, buf_avail)) to the space actually returned by rtio_sqe_rx_buf(), but then queues one 6-byte bus read per hardware FIFO entry at consecutive offsets from read_buf, bounded by the device-reported entry count rather than by the clamp. When the allocated buffer is smaller than a full batch, the driver writes up to 186 bytes past the end of the allocation; a companion defect left data->fifo_total_bytes un-reset at batch start, so an aborted or errored chain could leave a stale write offset that pushes the next batch's writes out of bounds as well. A short buffer is an expected, first-class outcome of the RTIO allocator: rtio_block_pool_alloc() walks the requested size down one block at a time until a contiguous run is available, and the driver only demands sizeof(struct adxl345_fifo_data) + 6 bytes as its minimum. Any streaming configuration whose mempool block granularity is smaller than a full FIFO batch (204 bytes) — for example the sensor shell's RTIO_DEFINE_WITH_MEMPOOL(sensor_read_rtio, 8,

Oct 23, 2026The WireGuard VPN service in subsys/net/lib/wireguard/wg.c updated the peer endpoint from a message it could not authenticate.CVE-2026-79977 · Other software · zephyrproject · reported by vulnerabilities@zephyrproject.orgHigh 8.2
The WireGuard VPN service in subsys/net/lib/wireguard/wg.c updated the peer endpoint from a message it could not authenticate. In handle_transport_data(), when the 32-bit receiver index of an incoming transport-data message matched no session, the code both scheduled a new handshake and copied the datagram's source address into peer->endpoint with memcpy(&peer->endpoint, peer_addr, sizeof(peer->endpoint)). Because the receiver index is unknown, there is no key with which such a message could be verified, so the address written into peer->endpoint is entirely attacker-supplied. Every other endpoint update in the implementation happens only after authentication — after the Noise handshake in handle_handshake_init(), or after AEAD decryption plus the anti-replay check in wg_process_data_message(). The WireGuard listener is registered with net_udp_register() using no remote address or port filter and defaults to UDP port 51820 (CONFIG_WIREGUARD_PORT), and wg_ctrl_recv() resolves the peer by interface rather than by any cryptographic identity. Any host able to send a UDP datagram to that port can therefore reach the defect off-path, with no need to observe legitimate traffic: a 16-byte

Zephyr's OpenThread integration defined CONFIG_OPENTHREAD_JOINER_PSKD with default "J01NME" in modules/openthread/Kconfig.thread (previously subsys/net/l2/openthread/Kconfig, then subsys/net/l2/openthread/Kconfig.thread). J01NME is the example Joining Device Credential used throughout the public OpenThread and Thread commissioning documentation, including Zephyr's own samples/net/sockets/echo_client/README.rst, so it is not a secret. A firmware image built with CONFIG_OPENTHREAD_JOINER_AUTOSTART=y that never overrode the PSKd therefore shipped with a publicly known joining credential compiled in, with no build-time or run-time warning. The PSKd is the only value that authenticates Thread commissioning: joiner and commissioner run a DTLS-PSK handshake keyed on it, after which the commissioner supplies the full operational dataset. In ot_configure_instance() (modules/openthread/openthread.c), a device with no stored dataset calls otJoinerStart() with the configured PSKd, and ot_joiner_start_handler() calls otThreadSetEnabled() on success. virtualenv is a tool for creating isolated virtual python environments. From 21.14.9 until 21.14.13, the bash bin/activate script can copy an attacker-controlled --prompt value into PS1 without escaping dollar signs or backticks when both promptvars and POSIX mode are disabled during activation. Re-enabling promptvars, running set -o posix, or starting an interactive child bash that inherits the exported PS1 can then expand command substitution in the stored VIRTUAL_ENV_PROMPT value and execute commands as the user who activates the environment. Tandoor Recipes before 2.7.0 contains an improper cache-key design in cookbook/helper/permission_helper.py that allows authenticated users to retain stale group-based permissions across different spaces by exploiting a cache key keyed only on user id while omitting the active space, with the cached entry's TTL refreshed on every request. Oct 23, 2026ConnMan through 2.0 has a stack-based buffer overflow via a DHCPv6 Reply message.CVE-2026-115863 · Other software · ConnMan · reported by MITREHigh 7.6
ConnMan through 2.0 has a stack-based buffer overflow via a DHCPv6 Reply message. This occurs in get_domains in gdhcp/client.c. It copies a fixed NS_MAXDNAME (1025) bytes from a DHCPv6 DOMAIN_LIST (option 24) value into a 1026-byte stack buffer dns_name regardless of the actual option length, then walks DNS labels with an unbounded "c += jump + 1" loop. A crafted DHCPv6 REPLY with a DOMAIN_LIST option of >= 1025 non-zero bytes makes the label walk leave the buffer and read/write '.' past its end in attacker-chosen strides. An on-link attacker can trigger this without authentication via a forged Router Advertisement (O=1) and a forged DHCPv6 REPLY matching xid/CLIENTID with a long DOMAIN_LIST. The impact is unauthenticated on-link crash of connmand (runs as root). This was introduced in bb06c47.

A flaw in Node.js `crypto` causes the internal entropy caches used by `crypto.randomUUID()`, `crypto.randomUUIDv7()`, and `crypto.randomInt()` to be saved into user-land startup snapshots (`--build-snapshot`) and single executable applications built with `useSnapshot`. If any of these functions, or an API that relies on them such as `URL.createObjectURL()`, is called while the snapshot is built, every process started from that snapshot returns the same values until the cache is refilled: up to 127 UUIDs and about 1,000 `randomInt()` values. Identifiers expected to be unique can collide across processes, and values issued by one process can be predicted by observing another. This vulnerability affects Node.js **26.x**, **24.x**, and **22.x**.

Oct 23, 2026A flaw in Node.js TLS hostname verification allows a certificate with only a DNS SAN to authenticate an IP endpoint when the client connects using a non-canonicCVE-2026-106072 · Other software · nodejs · reported by support@hackerone.comMedium 6.7
A flaw in Node.js TLS hostname verification allows a certificate with only a DNS SAN to authenticate an IP endpoint when the client connects using a non-canonical IPv4 spelling, such as `0177.0.0.1`, `0x7f.0.0.1`, `2130706433` or `127.1`. `tls.checkServerIdentity()` did not classify these hosts as IP addresses, but normalized them to their canonical form and matched the result against the certificate DNS names. A certificate containing `DNS:127.0.0.1` and no `IP Address:127.0.0.1` SAN was therefore accepted, while the same certificate is correctly rejected for `127.0.0.1`. Exploitation requires a certificate with a numeric DNS SAN issued by a CA trusted by the client, and a platform resolver that accepts these spellings, such as glibc. This vulnerability affects Node.js **26.x**, **24.x**, and **22.x**.

Oct 23, 2026A flaw in Node.js Permission Model filesystem enforcement can grant access to paths that do not match a wildcard `--allow-fs-read` or `--allow-fs-write` rule.CVE-2026-106071 · Other software · nodejs · reported by support@hackerone.comLow 3.6
A flaw in Node.js Permission Model filesystem enforcement can grant access to paths that do not match a wildcard `--allow-fs-read` or `--allow-fs-write` rule. When the requested path is shorter than the prefix of a wildcard grant, the radix tree lookup stops comparing early and treats the path as a match. For example, `--allow-fs-read=/etc/passwd.*` also allows reading `/etc/passwd`. This requires the wildcard grant to sit directly under the root of the permission tree, for example when it is the only grant for that scope. This is a different root cause from CVE-2026-58043. This vulnerability affects Node.js **26.x**.

Oct 23, 2026A flaw in the Node.js `zlib.ZipFile` API can cause it to return bytes that do not belong to the requested entry after the local and central header validation faCVE-2026-106070 · Other software · nodejs · reported by support@hackerone.comLow 3.7
A flaw in the Node.js `zlib.ZipFile` API can cause it to return bytes that do not belong to the requested entry after the local and central header validation fails. When `zipEntry.modified` is read on an archive whose local header does not match its central directory, either directly or while compacting the archive, the validation error is caught but the parsed local header is left cached without a content offset. A later content read then returns attacker-controlled bytes from the start of the file instead of rejecting the archive, and CRC-32 verification still passes because the attacker controls the central directory CRC. A Node.js-based scanner can therefore approve different content from what another ZIP implementation extracts from the same archive. This vulnerability affects Node.js **26.x**.

Oct 23, 2026A flaw in Node.js TLS hostname verification can cause a server certificate to be validated against a different IP address than the one the client connected to, CVE-2026-106069 · Other software · nodejs · reported by support@hackerone.comHigh 7.4
A flaw in Node.js TLS hostname verification can cause a server certificate to be validated against a different IP address than the one the client connected to, when the host is a non-canonical IPv4 literal with a leading zero, such as `0127.0.0.1`. `tls.checkServerIdentity()` normalizes the host following the WHATWG URL rules, which read a leading-zero octet as octal (`0127.0.0.1` becomes `87.0.0.1`), while the connection is made through the operating system resolver, which on some platforms such as macOS reads it as decimal (`127.0.0.1`). A server at the connected address can then be authenticated with a certificate issued for another IP address. This vulnerability affects Node.js **26.x**, **24.x**, and **22.x**.

Oct 23, 2026A flaw in Node.js TLS hostname verification allows a certificate without a matching IP address SAN to authenticate a connection to an IPv4 address when the hostCVE-2026-105483 · Other software · nodejs · reported by support@hackerone.comHigh 7.4
A flaw in Node.js TLS hostname verification allows a certificate without a matching IP address SAN to authenticate a connection to an IPv4 address when the host is written with non-ASCII characters, such as fullwidth digits (`127.0.0.1`). `tls.checkServerIdentity()` did not recognize such hosts as IP addresses, even though they normalize and resolve to a regular IPv4 address, and matched them against the certificate DNS names and Common Name instead. A certificate containing `DNS:127.0.0.1` or `DNS:*.0.0.1` could therefore be accepted for an IP endpoint it was not issued for. This is a regression introduced after the fix for CVE-2026-48618. A flaw in Node.js DNS resolution allows hostnames containing a NUL byte to be silently truncated by the dns.resolve*() functions and dns.reverse(). This is an incomplete fix of CVE-2026-48930, which only covered dns.lookup() and the net/tls host options. Because the name is passed to c-ares as a C string, resolving attacker.example\0.trusted.example queries attacker.example and returns its records without any error. Applications that validate a hostname, for example against a domain allowlist, and then resolve it with dns.resolve*() can act on records for a different name than the one they validated. A flaw in Node.js HTTP Agent connection reuse can cause a client to accept as valid a response that was sent before the client has sent the request. This is an incomplete fix of CVE-2026-48931. The guard that destroys idle keep-alive sockets when unexpected data arrives only runs when the event loop polls for I/O. If an unsolicited response has already reached the socket but has not been read yet when the socket is handed to a new request, for example because the event loop was busy with synchronous work, the guard is removed without seeing it and the data is parsed as the response to the new request. Oct 23, 2026Uni-CLI gives people and agents one command interface for websites, browsers, desktop applications, local tools, and MCP.CVE-2026-58497 · Other software · olo-dot-io · reported by GitHubHigh 8.6
Uni-CLI gives people and agents one command interface for websites, browsers, desktop applications, local tools, and MCP. Prior to version 0.225.2, Uni-CLI exposed the legacy JSON-RPC-over-HTTP MCP transport on loopback without validating browser Origin headers before routing requests. A malicious web page could send a CORS simple POST request, such as text/plain, to the local /mcp endpoint and deliver a JSON-RPC body to the dispatcher. If the user had started the local MCP HTTP transport, that page could drive tools/call requests against the user's local Uni-CLI server. The Streamable HTTP transport already enforced this browser-to-localhost boundary. The legacy stateless HTTP path did not, so the two HTTP transports had drifted. This issue is about the browser-to-localhost boundary; it does not change Uni-CLI's local-code-execution trust model. This issue has been patched in version 0.225.2.

Oct 23, 2026The Goobi viewer is a web application that allows digitised material to be displayed in a web browser.CVE-2026-55486 · Other software · intranda · reported by GitHubCritical 9.3
The Goobi viewer is a web application that allows digitised material to be displayed in a web browser. From version 25.08 to before version 26.05, the IIIF Auth 2.0 endpoints auth/login and auth/token in AuthorizationFlowResource accept an origin query parameter without validation and then (1) embed it into the Content-Security-Policy: frame-ancestors response header and (2) embed it into an HTML response body as a JavaScript single-quoted postMessage argument. Because the attacker controls both the login and token calls that initiate the flow, the unescaped value yields reflected XSS. This issue has been patched in version 26.05.

Oct 23, 2026The Goobi viewer is a web application that allows digitised material to be displayed in a web browser.CVE-2026-55465 · Other software · intranda · reported by GitHubMedium 5.3
The Goobi viewer is a web application that allows digitised material to be displayed in a web browser. From version 22.04 to before version 26.05, the unauthenticated REST endpoint GET /api/v1/index/{solrField}/spatial/search concatenates the user-supplied region query parameter directly into a Solr query string with no escaping, no local-param stripping, and no runtime schema enforcement (the OpenAPI @Schema(pattern=...) annotation is documentation-only at the JAX-RS layer). An attacker can inject Solr local-param syntax ({!parent ...}, {!join ...}) and boolean operators to make access-restricted georeferenced records match the query, bypassing the access-condition filter. This issue has been patched in version 26.05.

Oct 23, 2026The Goobi viewer is a web application that allows digitised material to be displayed in a web browser.CVE-2026-55463 · Other software · intranda · reported by GitHubMedium 6.5
The Goobi viewer is a web application that allows digitised material to be displayed in a web browser. From version 4.11.0 to before version 26.05, several Jakarta WebSocket endpoints in goobi-viewer-core (DownloadTaskEndpoint, CampaignEndpoint, AutocompleteEndpoint, UserEndpoint) accept connections without verifying that the associated HttpSession belongs to a logged-in user, and none validate the Origin header against an allowlist. An unauthenticated attacker can therefore connect to these endpoints; through CampaignEndpoint this allows polluting the in-process crowdsourcing page-lock map and broadcasting forged lock messages, disrupting reviewers' work. This issue has been patched in version 26.05.

Oct 23, 2026The Goobi viewer is a web application that allows digitised material to be displayed in a web browser.CVE-2026-55459 · Other software · intranda · reported by GitHubHigh 7.4
The Goobi viewer is a web application that allows digitised material to be displayed in a web browser. From version 25.01 to before version 26.05, AuthenticationEndpoint.verifyOpenIdToken builds its verifier as JWT.require(algorithm).withIssuer(issuer).build() and does not enforce the aud claim during cryptographic validation. The aud check is performed manually afterwards via a single string-equality call, which only handles single-string aud values. In a multi-RP IdP setup, a token whose single-string aud matches the viewer's client ID but was issued for a different relying party passes the check and authenticates the attacker as the token's sub. This issue has been patched in version 26.05.

Oct 23, 2026The Goobi viewer is a web application that allows digitised material to be displayed in a web browser.CVE-2026-55444 · Other software · intranda · reported by GitHubMedium 5.3
The Goobi viewer is a web application that allows digitised material to be displayed in a web browser. Prior to version 26.05, the legacy RSS servlet (RssResolver, GET /rss/) accepts the q and filterQuery parameters and concatenates them into Solr queries without validation. The servlet predates the REST API layer and lacks the input validation present in GET /api/v1/records/rss. q forms the main query body (wrapped only in literal parentheses); filterQuery is passed directly as a Solr fq. An unauthenticated attacker can inject Solr boolean operators to break out of the wrapping and render the trailing access-condition filter-query suffix optional, so that access-restricted records are included in the generated RSS feed. The q and filterQuery parameters are the same underlying vulnerability in the same servlet; q (the main query body) has the broader scope. This issue has been patched in version 26.05.

Oct 23, 2026The Goobi viewer is a web application that allows digitised material to be displayed in a web browser.CVE-2026-55442 · Other software · intranda · reported by GitHubMedium 5.3
The Goobi viewer is a web application that allows digitised material to be displayed in a web browser. From version 23.03 to before version 26.05, SolrTools.cleanUpQuery() strips Solr local-parameter syntax ({!...}) from user-supplied query strings before they reach Solr. Its regex can be bypassed by wrapping the local parameter in a second pair of curly braces ({{!...}}): the outer braces are stripped, the inner {!...} survives intact, and a valid Solr local parameter is forwarded. The flaw is in the shared sanitizer, so it affects any endpoint that routes user input through cleanUpQuery. The double-brace bypass applies from v23.10 (the greedy \{(.+)\} regex); a related bare-!join rewrap path is present. This issue has been patched in version 26.05.

Oct 23, 2026Isar is an integration system for automated root filesystem generation.CVE-2026-55222 · Other software · ilbers · reported by GitHubMedium 5.1
Isar is an integration system for automated root filesystem generation. In versions 0.11 and newer, /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d is created manually during bootstrap setup to be able to deploy local keys. By that, the directory is owned by the calling user (the one that executes Isar) instead of root. If the calling user's id is identical to one of an unprivileged user inside the image, this user is able to alter existing keys and deploy new ones, silently breaking the apt repo integrity protection. The issue is has no impact on those images that use an immutable rootfs, or if apt is never invoked. Changing only the keys does not trigger an exploit, it's just one step in a chain. An attacker would also have to manipulate a remote repo or intercept non-secure communication with it. This issue has been patched via commit 29e84ed.
