A heap-based buffer overflow in H5VM_array_fill() in src/H5VM.c in HDF5 before 2.2.0 lets a remote attacker cause an application crash and possibly execute arbitrary code with a crafted HDF5 file. When a dataset's unallocated chunks are read, H5D__fill_init() fills the fill-value buffer from datatype and dataspace metadata in the file. If that metadata is inconsistent with the buffer's allocated size, the write goes past the end of the buffer. The attacker can control the content written through the fill value stored in the file.

  • Oct 6, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: bridge: mst: move switchdev call outside rcu This is a follow-up of one of sashiko's CVE-2026-98301 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: bridge: mst: move switchdev call outside rcu This is a follow-up of one of sashiko's pre-existing bug reports. br_mst_set_state() calls switchdev_port_attr_set() for nonzero MSTIs while holding rcu_read_lock() which invokes the blocking switchdev notifier chain and may sleep. Nonzero MSTI changes come from netlink with rtnl held. Move the switchdev call before entering the rcu section and assert that rtnl is held. The call cannot be deferred because netlink needs its error and extack. Also DSA reads the old bridge MST state during the callback and checks it. A deferred callback will be late and will see the updated state.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tcp: do not let tcp_rmem be set below 4096 We can hit a division by zero crash in tcp_rcvbuf_grow() and tcp_rcv_space_adjust(): divide error: 0000 [#1] PREEMPT SMP RIP: 0010:tcp_rcvbuf_grow+0x187/0x450 net/ipv4/tcp_input.c:939 ... grow = div_u64(((u64)rcvwin << 1) * (newval - oldval), oldval); The division uses oldval = tp->rcvq_space.space as divisor. When tp->rcvq_space.space is zero, this leads to a divide-by-zero exception. tp->rcvq_space.space is initialized in tcp_init_buffer_space(): tp->rcvq_space.space = min3(tp->rcv_ssthresh, tp->rcv_wnd, (u32)TCP_INIT_CWND * tp->advmss); If tcp_rmem[1] is configured to very small values (such as 1), sk->sk_rcvbuf is initialized to 1. Then tcp_full_space(sk), which computes (sk->sk_rcvbuf * scaling_ratio) >> 8, truncates to 0. This sets tp->window_clamp = 0, tp->rcv_ssthresh = 0, and tp->rcvq_space.space = 0. Later, when data arrives and DRS is invoked, tcp_rcvbuf_grow() divides by oldval == 0. Back in 2015, commit b1cb59cf2efe ("net: sysctl_net_core: check SNDBUF and RCVBUF for min length") ensured that net.core.rmem_default and

  • Oct 6, 2026Use of Password Hash With Insufficient Computational Effort vulnerability in danielberkompas cloak_ecto and danielberkompas cloak allows an attacker who holds tCVE-2026-94206 · Other software · danielberkompas · reported by 6b3ad84c-e1a6-4bf7-a703-f496b71e49dbMedium 6.3

Use of Password Hash With Insufficient Computational Effort vulnerability in danielberkompas cloak_ecto and danielberkompas cloak allows an attacker who holds the hashed values and the configured secret to brute-force low-entropy plaintexts much faster than configured. The dump/1 callback that Cloak.Ecto.PBKDF2 (Cloak.Fields.PBKDF2 in cloak before the Ecto code moved to cloak_ecto) injects into a field module calls :pbkdf2.pbkdf2/4 with config[:size] in the iteration-count position. The :iterations setting is validated but never used. With the cloak_ecto defaults (iterations: 600_000, size: 32) each hash runs 32 PBKDF2 rounds instead of 600,000, so offline guessing of values such as email addresses costs about 18,750 times less than configured. This issue affects cloak_ecto: from 1.0.0-alpha.0 onward; cloak: from 0.7.0 before 1.0.0-alpha.0.

  • Oct 5, 2026Ash stores :atom-typed attributes as strings and compares them as strings.CVE-2026-94201 · Other software · ash-project · reported by 6b3ad84c-e1a6-4bf7-a703-f496b71e49dbHigh 8.2

Ash stores :atom-typed attributes as strings and compares them as strings. When such an attribute is referenced in a filter, the comparison value is coerced through Ash.Type.Atom. Because the type defined no coerce/2 callback, coercion fell back to the default (cast_input/2), which calls String.to_atom/1 when the attribute is configured with the unsafe_to_atom?: true constraint. Filtering such an attribute with attacker-controlled strings therefore interned a new, permanent atom for every distinct value. Atoms are never garbage collected and the BEAM caps the atom table, so an actor who can supply filter values for a public, filterable :atom attribute declared with unsafe_to_atom?: true can exhaust the atom table and crash the node (denial of service). AshPaperTrail is a notable example: its version resources expose a public, filterable version_action_name atom attribute with unsafe_to_atom?: true by default. The fix adds a coerce/2 to Ash.Type.Atom that never interns atoms — a comparison value is left as a string, since the type is stored and compared as a string. Setting the attribute from action input (cast_input/2, which still honors unsafe_to_atom?) is unchanged. This issue

Use of the backend-facing $scheme variable in the trailing-slash directory redirect in nginx.conf of Chainguard Academy (edu) from commit 0b75ff98057f69b044a3e7194e428066ac5ad0d4 before commit 93dc0e50739c225f5aee2e803800a47fc0feb906 allows an on-path network attacker to read or modify documentation content served to a victim via an HTTPS request for a slashless directory path, because TLS terminates at the load balancer in front of Nginx and the resulting 301 response redirects the client to a plaintext http:// URL. Browsers that ship the HSTS preload list are not affected, because the .dev top-level domain is preloaded; clients that do not enforce HSTS, such as command-line HTTP clients and scripts that follow redirects, are affected.

A remote inbound peer can push many unique transactions to occupy a disproportionate share of mempool admission slots, crowding out honest peers' transaction relay.

The getblock RPC method in zebra-rpc before 11.0.0, used by the Zcash Foundation's Zebra node, panics on verbosity 2 for a side-chain block because the block's -1 confirmations sentinel is converted to u32 with .expect(), aborting the process. Remote unauthenticated attackers, directly or through lightwalletd, can repeat this call to keep the node in a crash loop.

Zebra before 6.1.0 contains an incomplete cleanup vulnerability in the state write task that allows remote unauthenticated peers to stall node synchronization by poisoning parent_error_map. Attackers can deliver a coinbase-malleated block sharing a canonical block's hash before it propagates, causing the next canonical block to be rejected and stalling the node for roughly 2,000 blocks.

ZcashFoundation Zebra before 6.1.0 contains a resource exhaustion vulnerability that allows unauthenticated peers to degrade block processing by pushing transactions with invalid Orchard proofs without being misbehavior-scored. Attackers can repeatedly push invalid proofs into the shared halo2 batch verifier, forcing honest block proofs onto the slow individual-verification path and slowing block processing roughly sevenfold.

The block sync download path in Zebra (zebrad) before 6.3.0 reads a block's height from its unvalidated coinbase scriptSig and drops blocks that appear too far behind the tip before consensus validation, without penalizing the supplying peer. Because V5 transaction IDs exclude the scriptSig, a malicious peer can repeatedly serve a canonical block whose coinbase claims height 1 while keeping the requested hash, delaying the node's discovery of the newest block.

  • Oct 2, 2026Smash Balloon Social Post Feed – Simple Social Feeds for: Stored Cross-Site ScriptingCVE-2026-93756 · WordPress plugins & themes · reported by WordfenceHigh 7.2

The Smash Balloon Social Post Feed – Simple Social Feeds for WordPress plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via Facebook Comment Message via v-html in Admin Builder Preview in all versions up to, and including, 4.13.0 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts that will execute whenever an administrator accesses the feed builder preview page. This attack requires only a Facebook account to post a comment on the connected Facebook Page, with no WordPress credentials needed; additionally, the use of v-show rather than v-if means injected HTML — including onerror handlers — is evaluated in the DOM even when the comment section is not visually displayed. When combined with the lack of URL validation in the cff_install_addon AJAX handler (admin/addon-functions.php), an injected script running in an administrator's session can trigger arbitrary plugin installation from an attacker-controlled URL, which may result in server-side code execution.

A remote, unauthenticated TLS client can make a server crash or call through a freed pointer if its sni_callback assigns a different context to SSLSocket.context (the documented way to select a certificate per server name) and nothing else keeps the original ssl.SSLContext alive. Typical cases are servers that create an SSLContext per connection or replace it while connections are open; servers that wrap their listening socket with it are not affected. Mitigation: keep a reference to every SSLContext that sets sni_callback for the lifetime of the server. TLS clients are not affected.
