In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: fix maximum allowed access checks The DACL permission check looks for an ACE matching the current user and falls back to the Everyone ACE. It does not consider an Authenticated Users ACE, even though an authenticated session is a member of that well-known group. As a result, opening a file whose access is granted through S-1-5-11 can incorrectly fail with STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED. Treat an Authenticated Users ACE as a fallback entry alongside Everyone. The maximal access calculation also combines access masks from every ACE, regardless of whether its SID applies to the current user. This can grant rights belonging to an unrelated principal. Process only ACEs applying to the user, Everyone, or Authenticated Users, and accumulate allowed and denied masks in ACL order. Preserve explicitly requested access bits so they are validated against the resulting maximal mask. When ACCESS_SYSTEM_SECURITY is denied, report STATUS_PRIVILEGE_NOT_HELD instead of the generic STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED. Access to the system ACL requires a security privilege that ksmbd does not grant. For regular files, include FILE_EXECUTE in maxi

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ocfs2: fix circular locking dependency in ocfs2_init_acl() A lockdep warning indicates a circular locking dependency between `&oi->ip_xattr_sem` and `&journal->j_trans_barrier`: WARNING: possible circular locking dependency detected is trying to acquire lock: (&oi->ip_xattr_sem){++++}-{4:4}, at: ocfs2_init_acl+0x2fd/0x7e0 fs/ocfs2/acl.c:367 but task is already holding lock: (&journal->j_trans_barrier){.+.+}-{4:4}, at: ocfs2_start_trans+0x3ab/0x700 fs/ocfs2/journal.c:369 The deadlock involves two code paths: Path 1 (setxattr) where `ocfs2_xattr_set()` acquires `ip_xattr_sem` (write) and then starts a transaction, which acquires `j_trans_barrier` (read); and Path 2 (mkdir/mknod) where `ocfs2_mknod()` starts a transaction (`j_trans_barrier` read) and then calls `ocfs2_init_acl()`, which attempts to acquire `ip_xattr_sem` (read) on the parent directory to retrieve the default ACL. Because rw_semaphores are subject to writer priority, a pending writer on `j_trans_barrier` (e.g., the journal commit thread) can cause Path 1 to block, while Path 2 is blocked waiting for Path 1 to release `ip_xattr_sem`. • Sep 22, 2026A typo in the MISP ACLComponent access control configuration caused the ACL rule for the previewEventAttributes action to reference the permission string 'themiCVE-2026-95805 · Other software · MISP · reported by 5a6e4751-2f3f-4070-9419-94fb35b644e8Medium 5.3

A typo in the MISP ACLComponent access control configuration caused the ACL rule for the previewEventAttributes action to reference the permission string 'theming_enabled*' (with a trailing asterisk) instead of the correct 'theming_enabled'. In the MISP ACL system, the array values define which role or permission grants access to a given controller action. The adjacent entry previewEventObjects correctly uses ['theming_enabled'], confirming the intended restriction. The malformed key 'theming_enabled*' does not match any valid permission identifier, causing the access control check for previewEventAttributes to malfunction. Depending on the ACL evaluation logic, this could result in either unauthorized users gaining access to the previewEventAttributes endpoint (authorization bypass) or legitimate users being denied access (availability impact).  The previewEventAttributes endpoint exposes event attribute data within MISP so an authorization bypass could expose sensitive indicator and attribute data to users who should not have access.

ArcadeDB before 26.9.1 fails to enforce security-group types ACL entries for TimeSeries types because the ACL resolver builds permissions from bucket IDs, but TimeSeries types do not own normal record buckets. An authenticated low-privilege user can read or insert TimeSeries samples despite explicit deny rules by exploiting the missing type-name-based access check that causes permission lookups to fail open.

  • Sep 17, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: btrfs: check if root is readonly when setting posix acl For a filesystem which has btrfs rCVE-2026-90263 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: btrfs: check if root is readonly when setting posix acl For a filesystem which has btrfs read-only property set to true, all write operations including acl and xattr should be denied. However, acl can still be set even if btrfs ro property is true. This happens because no function on the set_acl code path checks the root is readonly or not. It was checked in btrfs_setxattr_trans() but got removed in commit 353c2ea735e4 ("btrfs: remove redundant readonly root check in btrfs_setxattr_trans") That commit didn't check if all the callers properly check the root's read-only flag. A previous fix is commit b51111271b03 ("btrfs: check if root is readonly while setting security xattr"). Always check if the root is read-only before performing the set acl operation.

  • Sep 17, 2026In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: bound smb_check_perm_dacl() ACE walks by DACL size smb_check_perm_dacl() validates CVE-2026-90153 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67High 8.1

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: bound smb_check_perm_dacl() ACE walks by DACL size smb_check_perm_dacl() validates that the DACL fits inside the NT security descriptor, but then bounds its two ACE walks by the remaining NTSD length (acl_size) rather than the DACL's declared size (pdacl_size). When pdacl->size is smaller than the trailing NTSD buffer, bytes after the declared DACL boundary - still inside the stored security descriptor - are parsed as ACEs during access checks. A crafted DACL can place an access-granting ACE beyond pdacl->size, and the current code accepts it during SMB2_CREATE access validation, while parse_dacl() and smb_inherit_dacl() stop at pdacl_size. Bound both ACE walks by pdacl_size to match the DACL boundary semantics used elsewhere in the server. Validation: - semantic KUnit harness shows the post-boundary ACE is selected before the fix and rejected (EACCES) after it - linux master (7.2-rc6), x86_64

  • Sep 16, 2026The `deleteContainer` opcode (0x14/20) is processed without verifying the caller's ACL permissions, allowing any authenticated client to delete specific znodes CVE-2026-79993 · Websites & servers · Apache Software Foundation · reported by security@apache.orgHigh 7.5

The `deleteContainer` opcode (0x14/20) is processed without verifying the caller's ACL permissions, allowing any authenticated client to delete specific znodes in the data tree regardless of the ACL restrictions on the znode or its parent. This opcode is considered internal-only and the official client doesn't have API for it, but a client that can open a plain TCP session on the ZooKeeper client port (2181 by default) - with NO authentication and NO ACL permissions - can delete any empty persistent znode (including regular persistent nodes, container nodes, and TTL nodes) by issuing the raw protocol OpCode deleteContainer (20). The deleteContainer request path completely skips both the session check and the DELETE ACL check that are enforced by the regular delete (OpCode 2) path. This is an authorization bypass / ACL enforcement bug. This issue affects Apache ZooKeeper: from 3.9.0 through 3.9.5, from 3.8.0 through 3.8.6. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 3.9.6 or 3.8.7, which fixes the issue.

  • Sep 16, 2026Information disclosure via SetWatches reconnect replay in Apache ZooKeeper due to missing ACL check.CVE-2026-59739 · Websites & servers · Apache Software Foundation · reported by security@apache.orgHigh 7.5

Information disclosure via SetWatches reconnect replay in Apache ZooKeeper due to missing ACL check. An attacker can discover ACL-restricted paths by registering exists-watches on non-existent paths, then reconnecting after the paths are created with restricted ACLs. Issue is caused by incomplete fix for CVE-2024-23944 (ZOOKEEPER-4799). The fix added ACL checking to WatchManager.triggerWatch(). However, DataTree.setWatches() — the SetWatches/SetWatches2 reconnect replay handler — still calls watcher.process(event) with null ACL, bypassing the check entirely. It's important to note that only the path is exposed by this vulnerability, not the data of znode, but since znode path can contain sensitive information like user name or login ID, this issue is potentially critical. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 3.9.6, 3.8.7 which fixes the issue.

Where this comes from: the exploited list is CISA’s Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog. Everything else is the whole National Vulnerability Database, where each record is published by the team that found the bug (Wordfence, Patchstack, WPScan, the vendors themselves and others); we show who. Exploit odds are FIRST’s EPSS, updated daily. Titles and categories are ours, so check the linked record before acting on a detail. For a write-up of the big ones, see our advisories. Every vendor, and every WordPress plugin and theme with a recorded flaw, also has its own page. All of it is free to reuse as JSON, CSV or RSS.
