  • Jan 11, 2025In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: arm64: ptrace: fix partial SETREGSET for NT_ARM_TAGGED_ADDR_CTRL Currently tagged_addr_ctrCVE-2024-57874 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67Medium 6.1

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: arm64: ptrace: fix partial SETREGSET for NT_ARM_TAGGED_ADDR_CTRL Currently tagged_addr_ctrl_set() doesn't initialize the temporary 'ctrl' variable, and a SETREGSET call with a length of zero will leave this uninitialized. Consequently tagged_addr_ctrl_set() will consume an arbitrary value, potentially leaking up to 64 bits of memory from the kernel stack. The read is limited to a specific slot on the stack, and the issue does not provide a write mechanism. As set_tagged_addr_ctrl() only accepts values where bits [63:4] zero and rejects other values, a partial SETREGSET attempt will randomly succeed or fail depending on the value of the uninitialized value, and the exposure is significantly limited. Fix this by initializing the temporary value before copying the regset from userspace, as for other regsets (e.g. NT_PRSTATUS, NT_PRFPREG, NT_ARM_SYSTEM_CALL). In the case of a zero-length write, the existing value of the tagged address ctrl will be retained. The NT_ARM_TAGGED_ADDR_CTRL regset is only visible in the user_aarch64_view used by a native AArch64 task to manipulate another native AArch64 task. As get_tag

  • Dec 28, 2024In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bpf: Mark raw_tp arguments with PTR_MAYBE_NULL Arguments to a raw tracepoint are tagged asCVE-2024-56702 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67Medium 5.5

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bpf: Mark raw_tp arguments with PTR_MAYBE_NULL Arguments to a raw tracepoint are tagged as trusted, which carries the semantics that the pointer will be non-NULL. However, in certain cases, a raw tracepoint argument may end up being NULL. More context about this issue is available in [0]. Thus, there is a discrepancy between the reality, that raw_tp arguments can actually be NULL, and the verifier's knowledge, that they are never NULL, causing explicit NULL checks to be deleted, and accesses to such pointers potentially crashing the kernel. To fix this, mark raw_tp arguments as PTR_MAYBE_NULL, and then special case the dereference and pointer arithmetic to permit it, and allow passing them into helpers/kfuncs; these exceptions are made for raw_tp programs only. Ensure that we don't do this when ref_obj_id > 0, as in that case this is an acquired object and doesn't need such adjustment. The reason we do mask_raw_tp_trusted_reg logic is because other will recheck in places whether the register is a trusted_reg, and then consider our register as untrusted when detecting the presence of the PTR_MAYBE_NULL flag.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: iommu/vt-d: Remove cache tags before disabling ATS The current implementation removes cache tags after disabling ATS, leading to potential memory leaks and kernel crashes. Specifically, CACHE_TAG_DEVTLB type cache tags may still remain in the list even after the domain is freed, causing a use-after-free condition. This issue really shows up when multiple VFs from different PFs passed through to a single user-space process via vfio-pci. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: sched/task_stack: fix object_is_on_stack() for KASAN tagged pointers When CONFIG_KASAN_SW_TAGS and CONFIG_KASAN_STACK are enabled, the object_is_on_stack() function may produce incorrect results due to the presence of tags in the obj pointer, while the stack pointer does not have tags. • Nov 29, 2024The Backstage Scaffolder plugin Houses types and utilities for building scaffolder-related modules.CVE-2024-53983 · Other software · backstage · reported by GitHubMedium 5.4

The Backstage Scaffolder plugin Houses types and utilities for building scaffolder-related modules. A vulnerability is identified in Backstage Scaffolder template functionality where Server-Side Template Injection (SSTI) can be exploited to perform Git config injection. The vulnerability allows an attacker to capture privileged git tokens used by the Backstage Scaffolder plugin. With these tokens, unauthorized access to sensitive resources in git can be achieved. The impact is considered medium severity as the Backstage Threat Model recommends restricting access to adding and editing templates in the Backstage Catalog plugin. The issue has been resolved in versions `v0.4.12`, `v0.5.1` and `v0.6.1` of the `@backstage/plugin-scaffolder-node` package. Users are encouraged to upgrade to this version to mitigate the vulnerability. Users are advised to upgrade. Users unable to upgrade may ensure that templates do not change git config.

Everything else is the whole National Vulnerability Database, where each record is published by the team that found the bug (Wordfence, Patchstack, WPScan, the vendors themselves and others); we show who. Exploit odds are FIRST’s EPSS, updated daily. Titles and categories are ours, so check the linked record before acting on a detail. For a write-up of the big ones, see our advisories.
