  • Oct 5, 2026gpgtar in GnuPG before 2.5.19 can allow file overwrite via crafted data in an archive.CVE-2026-105712 · Other software · GnuPG · reported by MITRELow 3.6

gpgtar in GnuPG before 2.5.19 can allow file overwrite via crafted data in an archive. When extracting an untrusted archive with --directory (aka -C) into an existing directory containing a pre-existing symlink, gpgtar can follow that symlink and create or overwrite a file outside the selected extraction directory. The write is limited by the extraction user's filesystem permissions. An archive extracted into a fresh empty directory does not have this risk.

  • Oct 5, 2026adm-zip is a JavaScript library for creating and extracting ZIP archives in Node.js.CVE-2026-102282 · Other software · cthackers · reported by GitHubHigh 7.1

adm-zip is a JavaScript library for creating and extracting ZIP archives in Node.js. Prior to 0.6.1, adm-zip applies the Unix permission bits stored in a zip entry directly to the extracted file via `fs.chmodSync()` when `keepOriginalPermission=true` is passed to `extractAllTo()`/`extractEntryTo()` — and it never filters the setuid/setgid/sticky bits out of those bits. A zip crafted by an attacker can therefore produce an extracted binary with mode `04755`. When extraction runs as root (the default posture in Docker builds, CI runners, and privileged install steps — the exact environments where this flag is used), the resulting root-owned setuid file is executed later by a lesser-privileged user, turning the attacker's code into a root execution. Version 0.6.1 fixes the issue.

Out-of-bounds Write (CWE-787) in the PEA archive extraction routine (pea.pas, unpea_procedure) of the first-party pea component in PeaZip 11.2.0 and earlier allows an attacker who convinces a victim to open or extract a crafted .pea archive to execute arbitrary code as the user running PeaZip. While decompressing a PCOMPRESS1 stream, the 32-bit compressed-block-size field of the first block (compsize) is read directly from the archive and used without validation as the length of a blockread into the fixed-size global buffers wbuf1/wbuf2 (1,114,112 bytes) and as the bound of the subsequent copy loop. The existing check "compsize > WBUFSIZE" is applied only to the size of each following block, so the first block escapes it; the same unvalidated value is also used to index wbuf1[compsize], an out-of-bounds read at an attacker-chosen offset. The copy loop additionally copies the requested length instead of the number of bytes actually read, and terminates on equality rather than on an upper bound. Because the project is built without range checking and no archive password, integrity tag or non-default configuration is required, the overflow overwrites adjacent global data; code executi

  • Sep 29, 2026JupyterLab is an extensible environment for interactive and reproducible computing, based on the Jupyter Notebook Architecture.CVE-2026-102904 · Other software · jupyterlab · reported by GitHubMedium 5.4

JupyterLab is an extensible environment for interactive and reproducible computing, based on the Jupyter Notebook Architecture. From JupyterLab 4.0.0 until 4.5.11 and 4.6.4, the PyPI Extension Manager uninstall request reaches ExtensionHandler.post, which validates extension names for installation but passes uninstall names to PyPIExtensionManager.uninstall and python -m pip uninstall without rejecting option-like values. The security impact requires that the PyPI Extension Manager is enabled, the account can call the extension API, and kernels and terminals are disabled or delegated to remote hosts; otherwise the user can already read files and make outbound requests directly. An authenticated user with extension API access can supply a pip requirements option to make the server read a local file or fetch an internal URL, and reflected parse errors can return the first unparsable line or response content. A pip log option can also create or corrupt a chosen path with pip-generated log text, but the requester cannot select an arbitrary disclosed line or arbitrary file content, and the injection does not add code execution or availability impact beyond ordinary package removal. From JupyterLab 4.5.0 until 4.5.11 and 4.6.4, from Notebook 7.5.0 until 7.6.3, and from JupyterLite Core 0.7.0 until 0.8.4, the system clipboard cell-paste path accepts attacker-controlled cell JSON without clearing metadata.trusted. When useSystemClipboardForCells is active and pasteCodeCellsWithoutOutput is disabled, a pasted code cell can mark HTML output as trusted, bypass output sanitization, and execute script in the authenticated JupyterLab origin without executing the cell. Markdown and raw cells are not affected because their output is sanitized. This issue is fixed in JupyterLab 4.5.11 and 4.6.4, Notebook 7.6.3, and JupyterLite Core 0.8.4.

  • Sep 29, 2026JupyterLab is an extensible environment for interactive and reproducible computing, based on the Jupyter Notebook Architecture.CVE-2026-102830 · Other software · jupyterlab · reported by GitHubMedium 6.8

JupyterLab is an extensible environment for interactive and reproducible computing, based on the Jupyter Notebook Architecture. From JupyterLab 3.0.0 until 4.5.11 and 4.6.4, and in JupyterLite Core 0.8.3 and earlier, the Plural-Forms header in a selected third-party language pack can append JavaScript after a valid plural rule because prefix-only regular-expression validation accepts a matching prefix without requiring the entire header to match. JupyterLab passes the accepted expression to new Function, so loading the catalogue and translating a plural string executes the appended code in the authenticated JupyterLab origin. Where Jupyter Server kernels, terminals, and APIs are exposed, the code can use authenticated server APIs to read or modify files and run code. Impact is much more limited in JupyterLite because it typically lacks most exposed Jupyter Server surfaces. The default English locale is unaffected because it does not load a translation catalogue. This issue is fixed in JupyterLab 4.5.11 and 4.6.4 and JupyterLite Core 0.8.4.

  • Sep 28, 2026The decompress package for Node.js extracts archives.CVE-2026-101894 · Other software · XhmikosR · reported by GitHubCritical 9.1

The decompress package for Node.js extracts archives. Prior to 10.2.2 and 11.1.4, the default decompress(input, output) API relies on lexical containment checks that do not account for the kernel following a planted symlink chain. An attacker can supply a crafted archive containing chained symlink entries so that a later entry resolves outside the output directory. This allows files outside output to be read or written, and overwriting startup scripts or configuration can lead to remote code execution. The maintained @xhmikosr/decompress package is fixed in 10.2.2 and 11.1.4, but the separately affected unmaintained decompress package remains unpatched through 4.2.1. This vulnerability results from a bypass of the incomplete hardening for CVE-2026-53486. @xhmikosr/decompress is fixed in versions 10.2.2 and 11.1.4.

OpenClaw (npm package 'openclaw') versions >= 2026.5.28 and < 2026.8.1 mishandle archive listings in the tar.bz2 skill installer: bounded command-output suffixes were treated as complete listings of the archive. A crafted .tar.bz2/.tbz2 skill archive can push prohibited entries out of both retained listings so that entry-count and size checks pass, and the archive is then extracted in full. Temporal Server did not bound the work performed while searching for a Schedule's next action time. An authenticated caller with namespace write permission could create or update a Schedule that combines a fine-grained cadence with an exclusion calendar that rejects every candidate time, causing the server to evaluate excluded candidates without a per-search work budget. This can consume excessive CPU in Frontend and Schedule worker components. A persisted specification can also cause its backing Schedule Workflow to repeatedly fail and retry, allowing CPU consumption to continue without additional requests until the Schedule is deleted or its backing Workflow is terminated. Repeated or parallel exploitation can deny service. The issue affects availability only; it does not expose or modify Workflow data.

adm-zip is a JavaScript library for creating and extracting ZIP archives in Node.js. Prior to 0.6.1, getData() in zipEntry.js trusts an entry's central-directory uncompressed size and allocates output memory before validating that value against the actual compressed data and decompression result. A small crafted ZIP can declare a multi-gigabyte uncompressed size, causing Buffer.alloc and decompression handling to commit excessive resident memory before CRC validation reports an error. Grafana OSS and Grafana Enterprise did not safely resolve symbolic links when extracting plugin archives. A crafted plugin archive can chain relative symbolic link entries to escape the plugin installation directory, writing arbitrary files and an executable backend binary outside that directory. The dropped executable runs with the privileges of the Grafana server process, resulting in remote code execution. Plugin archives are extracted before their signature is verified, so a valid plugin signature does not prevent the write. An operator can therefore be affected by installing a plugin that appears legitimate, as well as by installing a plugin from an arbitrary archive using grafana-cli, the GF_INSTALL_PLUGINS environment variable, or preinstall configuration. Grafana Enterprise is affected because it includes the same plugin extraction code as Grafana OSS.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bpf: Reject programs with inlined helpers if JIT is not available When an architecture (such as LoongArch, ARM64, and RISC-V) implements bpf_jit_inlines_helper_call(), the verifier skips rewriting the helper call offset (insn->imm) in bpf_do_misc_fixups(). This is because the helper is expected to be inlined by the JIT compiler later. Therefore, insn->imm remains as the raw helper enum ID. However, if JIT is disabled at runtime (net.core.bpf_jit_enable=0) or if JIT compilation fails dynamically (e.g., due to OOM), the program falls back to the BPF interpreter. When the interpreter executes (__bpf_call_base + insn->imm) with the unpatched raw ID, it jumps into an invalid address space, triggering an instruction alignment fault or a kernel panic. Although these helpers have valid C implementations in the kernel, the omission of offset rewriting makes runtime interpreter fallback fatal. Fix this by setting 'prog->jit_required = 1' when helper call rewriting is skipped for JIT inlining. This ensures that such programs are safely rejected if JIT is not available, preventing the runtime kernel panic.

Junrar is an open source Java RAR archive library. Prior to version 7.6.1, LocalFolderExtractor in src/main/java/com/github/junrar/LocalFolderExtractor.java can create directories outside the intended extraction root when processing a crafted archive entry. LocalFolderExtractor.createFile() validates only the final canonical file path, while LocalFolderExtractor.makeFile() creates intermediate path segments with unchecked mkdir() calls. An entry can therefore make the final path resolve inside the destination while causing intermediate directory creation outside it, enabling filesystem pollution or file-versus-directory squatting that can make later security-sensitive writes fail. The demonstrated impact is directory creation, not unconditional arbitrary file-content write. This issue is fixed in version 7.6.1.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: KVM: arm64: Correctly cap TLBI Range to the architural limit TLB Invalidation by Range has a fairly powerful way of encoding pretty large ranges in a small number of bits. This range can be based on an arbitrary VA, which means it is pretty easy for a guest to generate an overflow should the hypervisor be naive enough to add the range to the base... Make sure the range is capped to the limit dictated by the address bit that determines the VA range. For an IPA invalidation, this is further corrected down the line to ignore the upper range.

  • Sep 11, 2026An interface that accepts file uploads from authenticated users extracts the contents of uploaded archives without validating that extracted file paths remain wCVE-2026-90445 · Other software · CISA · reported by ics-cert@hq.dhs.govHigh 7.1

An interface that accepts file uploads from authenticated users extracts the contents of uploaded archives without validating that extracted file paths remain within the intended destination directory. This allows an authenticated attacker to craft an archive whose entries traverse outside the destination directory, causing the extraction process to write files to arbitrary locations with the privileges of that process. This could allow an attacker to inject fabricated records into the system's stored data or tamper with application configuration.
