  • May 5, 2026EmailKit: Arbitrary File ReadCVE-2026-5957 · WordPress plugins & themes · reported by WordfenceMedium 6.5

The EmailKit plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Arbitrary File Read in all versions up to and including 1.6.5. This is due to a flawed path traversal validation in the create_template() method of the CheckForm class, where realpath() is called on the allowed base directory (wp-content/uploads/emailkit/templates/) which may not exist, causing it to return false. In PHP 8.x, strpos($real_path, false) implicitly converts false to an empty string, and strpos() with an empty needle always returns 0, causing the check strpos(...) !== 0 to evaluate to false and bypassing the path validation entirely. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Author-level access and above, to read arbitrary files from the server, including sensitive files such as wp-config.php, by supplying an absolute path to the emailkit-editor-template REST API parameter.

Conditional Fields for Contact Form 7 WordPress plugin through version 2.7.2 contains an uncontrolled resource consumption vulnerability in the Wpcf7cfMailParser class where the hide_hidden_mail_fields_regex_callback() method reads an iteration count directly from user-supplied POST parameters without validation or upper bound enforcement. The CMP – Coming Soon & Maintenance Plugin by NiteoThemes plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to arbitrary file upload and remote code execution in all versions up to, and including, 4.1.16 via the `cmp_theme_update_install` AJAX action. This is due to the function only checking for the `publish_pages` capability (available to Editors and above) instead of `manage_options` (Administrators only), combined with a lack of proper validation on the user-supplied file URL and no verification of the downloaded file's content before extraction. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Administrator-level access and above, to force the server to download and extract a malicious ZIP file from a remote attacker-controlled URL into a web-accessible directory (`wp-content/plugins/cmp-premium-themes/`), resulting in remote code execution. Due to the lack of a nonce for Editors, they are unable to exploit this vulnerability.

  • Apr 16, 2026OPEN-BRAIN: Stored Cross-Site ScriptingCVE-2026-3995 · WordPress plugins & themes · reported by WordfenceMedium 4.4

The OPEN-BRAIN plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the 'API Key' settings field in all versions up to, and including, 0.5.0. This is due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. The plugin uses sanitize_text_field() which strips HTML tags but does not encode double quotes or other HTML-special characters needed for safe attribute context output. The API key value is saved via update_option() and later output into an HTML input element's value attribute without esc_attr() escaping. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Administrator-level access, to inject arbitrary web scripts via attribute breakout payloads (e.g., double quotes followed by event handlers) that execute whenever a user accesses the plugin settings page.

The AcyMailing plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to privilege escalation in all versions From 9.11.0 up to, and including, 10.8.1 due to a missing capability check on the `wp_ajax_acymailing_router` AJAX handler. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Subscriber-level access and above, to access admin-only controllers (including configuration management), enable the autologin feature, create a malicious newsletter subscriber with an injected `cms_id` pointing to any WordPress user, and then use the autologin URL to authenticate as that user, including administrators.

The Paid Membership Plugin, Ecommerce, User Registration Form, Login Form, User Profile & Restrict Content – ProfilePress plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Missing Authorization in all versions up to, and including, 4.16.12.
