  • May 1, 2024In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: clk: zynq: Prevent null pointer dereference caused by kmalloc failure The kmalloc() in zynCVE-2024-27037 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67Medium 5.5

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: clk: zynq: Prevent null pointer dereference caused by kmalloc failure The kmalloc() in zynq_clk_setup() will return null if the physical memory has run out. As a result, if we use snprintf() to write data to the null address, the null pointer dereference bug will happen. This patch uses a stack variable to replace the kmalloc().

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nilfs2: fix failure to detect DAT corruption in btree and direct mappings Patch series "nilfs2: fix kernel bug at submit_bh_wbc()". This resolves a kernel BUG reported by syzbot. Since there are two flaws involved, I've made each one a separate patch. The first patch alone resolves the syzbot-reported bug, but I think both fixes should be sent to stable, so I've tagged them as such. This patch (of 2): Syzbot has reported a kernel bug in submit_bh_wbc() when writing file data to a nilfs2 file system whose metadata is corrupted. There are two flaws involved in this issue. The first flaw is that when nilfs_get_block() locates a data block using btree or direct mapping, if the disk address translation routine nilfs_dat_translate() fails with internal code -ENOENT due to DAT metadata corruption, it can be passed back to nilfs_get_block(). This causes nilfs_get_block() to misidentify an existing block as non-existent, causing both data block lookup and insertion to fail inconsistently. The second flaw is that nilfs_get_block() returns a successful status in this inconsistent state. This causes the caller __b

  • May 1, 2024In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nouveau/dmem: handle kcalloc() allocation failure The kcalloc() in nouveau_dmem_evict_chunCVE-2024-26943 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67Medium 5.5

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nouveau/dmem: handle kcalloc() allocation failure The kcalloc() in nouveau_dmem_evict_chunk() will return null if the physical memory has run out. As a result, if we dereference src_pfns, dst_pfns or dma_addrs, the null pointer dereference bugs will happen. Moreover, the GPU is going away. If the kcalloc() fails, we could not evict all pages mapping a chunk. So this patch adds a __GFP_NOFAIL flag in kcalloc(). Finally, as there is no need to have physically contiguous memory, this patch switches kcalloc() to kvcalloc() in order to avoid failing allocations.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: btrfs: fix double free of anonymous device after snapshot creation failure When creating a snapshot we may do a double free of an anonymous device in case there's an error committing the transaction. The second free may result in freeing an anonymous device number that was allocated by some other subsystem in the kernel or another btrfs filesystem. The steps that lead to this: 1) At ioctl.c:create_snapshot() we allocate an anonymous device number and assign it to pending_snapshot->anon_dev; 2) Then we call btrfs_commit_transaction() and end up at transaction.c:create_pending_snapshot(); 3) There we call btrfs_get_new_fs_root() and pass it the anonymous device number stored in pending_snapshot->anon_dev; 4) btrfs_get_new_fs_root() frees that anonymous device number because btrfs_lookup_fs_root() returned a root - someone else did a lookup of the new root already, which could some task doing backref walking; 5) After that some error happens in the transaction commit path, and at ioctl.c:create_snapshot() we jump to the 'fail' label, and after that we free again the same anonymous device n

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: dccp/tcp: Unhash sk from ehash for tb2 alloc failure after check_estalblished(). syzkaller reported a warning [0] in inet_csk_destroy_sock() with no repro. WARN_ON(inet_sk(sk)->inet_num && !inet_csk(sk)->icsk_bind_hash); However, the syzkaller's log hinted that connect() failed just before the warning due to FAULT_INJECTION. [1] When connect() is called for an unbound socket, we search for an available ephemeral port. If a bhash bucket exists for the port, we call __inet_check_established() or __inet6_check_established() to check if the bucket is reusable. If reusable, we add the socket into ehash and set inet_sk(sk)->inet_num. Later, we look up the corresponding bhash2 bucket and try to allocate it if it does not exist. Although it rarely occurs in real use, if the allocation fails, we must revert the changes by check_established(). Otherwise, an unconnected socket could illegally occupy an ehash entry. Note that we do not put tw back into ehash because sk might have already responded to a packet for tw and it would be better to free tw earlier under such memory presure. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: btrfs: remove BUG() after failure to insert delayed dir index item Instead of calling BUG() when we fail to insert a delayed dir index item into the delayed node's tree, we can just release all the resources we have allocated/acquired before and return the error to the caller. This is fine because all existing call chains undo anything they have done before calling btrfs_insert_delayed_dir_index() or BUG_ON (when creating pending snapshots in the transaction commit path). So remove the BUG() call and do proper error handling. This relates to a syzbot report linked below, but does not fix it because it only prevents hitting a BUG(), it does not fix the issue where somehow we attempt to use twice the same index number for different index items.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: RDMA/siw: Fix connection failure handling In case immediate MPA request processing fails, the newly created endpoint unlinks the listening endpoint and is ready to be dropped. This special case was not handled correctly by the code handling the later TCP socket close, causing a NULL dereference crash in siw_cm_work_handler() when dereferencing a NULL listener. We now also cancel the useless MPA timeout, if immediate MPA request processing fails. This patch furthermore simplifies MPA processing in general: Scheduling a useless TCP socket read in sk_data_ready() upcall is now surpressed, if the socket is already moved out of TCP_ESTABLISHED state.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ACPI: GTDT: Don't corrupt interrupt mappings on watchdow probe failure When failing the driver probe because of invalid firmware properties, the GTDT driver unmaps the interrupt that it mapped earlier. However, it never checks whether the mapping of the interrupt actially succeeded. Even more, should the firmware report an illegal interrupt number that overlaps with the GIC SGI range, this can result in an IPI being unmapped, and subsequent fireworks (as reported by Dann Frazier). Rework the driver to have a slightly saner behaviour and actually check whether the interrupt has been mapped before unmapping things.

Where this comes from: the exploited list is CISA’s Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog. Everything else is the whole National Vulnerability Database, where each record is published by the team that found the bug (Wordfence, Patchstack, WPScan, the vendors themselves and others); we show who. Exploit odds are FIRST’s EPSS, updated daily. Titles and categories are ours, so check the linked record before acting on a detail. For a write-up of the big ones, see our advisories. Every vendor, and every WordPress plugin and theme with a recorded flaw, also has its own page. All of it is free to reuse as JSON, CSV or RSS.
