Shipping Zones by Drawing for WooCommerce: Stored Cross-Site Scripting

The Shipping Zones by Drawing for WooCommerce plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the 'szbd-picked' checkout parameter in versions up to, and including, 3.3.0 The szbd_checkout_field_update_order_meta() handler stores stripslashes(sanitize_text_field($_POST['szbd-picked'])) in order meta without validating the JSON structure or restricting dangerous characters, and the szbd_show_checkout_field_admin_order_meta() handler later concatenates the decoded lat and lng values directly into a double-quoted href attribute without esc_url() or esc_attr(). This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers, by submitting an ordinary guest-checkout order with a crafted szbd-picked JSON payload, to inject arbitrary attributes (such as onmouseover) onto the Google Maps link in the WooCommerce admin order view that will execute whenever an administrator accesses an injected order.

Description from the National Vulnerability Database, published by Wordfence

What to do: Affects up to 3.3.0. Update Shipping Zones by Drawing for WooCommerce to the newest version and check its changelog mentions this fix; if there isn’t one yet, deactivate it until there is.

What it means for a small business

Shipping Zones by Drawing for WooCommerce is a WordPress plugin. If your website uses it, the flaw is on your site whether or not anyone has noticed yet: attackers scan the whole internet for the plugins with published flaws, usually within days of a record like this one going public.

Most small-business sites run 15 to 40 plugins, and few owners know the list. You can check from WordPress itself (Plugins, then Installed Plugins), or let our free plugin check look it up by name.

How likely is an attack? The Exploit Prediction Scoring System, run by FIRST (the global association of security response teams), puts the odds of this one being exploited in the next 30 days at 0.24%, higher than 15% of CVEs. That’s low, but low isn’t zero, and the odds jump the day someone publishes an exploit. Scored October 31, 2026, updated daily.

Check your own setup

  • Is Shipping Zones by Drawing for WooCommerce safe? Every recorded flaw in it, the version that fixes each, and whether it’s still maintained.
  • Website check: reads what your site runs from the outside (WordPress version, plugins it can see, old server software) and matches it against this database.
  • Server check: what your web server says about itself, and whether that version has known flaws.
